Frequently Asked Questions - TropiCool TCX 14 DOMETIC

How to use ECO mode?
ECO mode is available on TCX14, TCX21 and TCX35 models. To activate it, press the HOT/COLD button until the desired number of LEDs is lit. A single LED corresponds to ECO mode, with an internal temperature of about 16 °C for cooling. This mode reduces power consumption.
How to adjust the battery protector?
The battery protector is adjusted with a switch (fig. 1 4, page 3). Three positions are available: LOW (cut-off voltage 10.1 V at 12 V), HIGH (cut-off voltage 11.7 V at 12 V) and OFF (disabled). Use HIGH for starter battery and LOW for supply battery.
What is the difference between LOW and HIGH modes of the battery protector?
In LOW mode, the cooler stops at a lower voltage (10.1 V at 12 V) allowing longer battery use. In HIGH mode, it stops earlier (11.7 V) to protect the starter battery from deep discharge. HIGH mode is recommended for starter batteries.
How to clean the TropiCool TCX 14 cooler?
Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance. Use a damp cloth to clean the interior and exterior. Do not use abrasive products or hard objects. Never immerse the cooler in water and do not clean it under running water.
Can I use the cooler with a car battery?
Yes, the cooler can be connected to a 12 V or 24 V battery via the cigarette lighter. Use the supplied DC cable. Ensure the ignition is on for power supply. The cooler is equipped with a battery protector to prevent excessive discharge.
How to change the fuse of the power cable?
The fuse is located in the DC connector (fig. 7 1, page 5). Replace it with an equivalent fuse (usually 15 A). Use a non-metallic brush to clean the socket if necessary. If the vehicle fuse has blown, replace it according to the service manual.
How to switch from cooling mode to heating mode?
For TCX14, TCX21 and TCX35 models, press the HOT/COLD button to toggle between modes. The red indicator light indicates heating, blue indicates cooling. The previously set temperature is stored.
What is the minimum cooling temperature?
The minimum cooling temperature is about 1 °C (with 7 LEDs lit) for the TCX14. The cooler can cool up to 27 °C below ambient temperature, but cannot go below 0 °C.
Can the cooler be used to heat food?
Yes, the cooler can heat up to 65 °C. Use heating mode by pressing HOT/COLD. Ensure the food can withstand this temperature. Heating is suitable for keeping warm, not for cooking.
What to do if the cooler does not work?
First check that the power socket is live (ignition on for DC socket). Clean the socket if dirty. Check the fuse of the connection cable and the vehicle fuse. If the external fan does not turn, the motor may be defective: contact an authorized service center.
