USER MANUAL Origo 5100 DOMETIC
Please read this instruction manual carefully before first use, and store it in
a safe place. If you pass on the product to another person, hand over this
instruction manual along with it.

2.2 Safety precautions when handling denatured alcohol
• Keep inflammable substances apart from heating and cooking devices
and other light and heat sources.
• Store alcohol in suitable containers only and in sufficient distance from

2.3 Operating the device safely
• Do not cover the heater.
• Wear proper clothing when operating the heater.
Do not wear hanging garments which can catch fire.
• Quickly remove your hand as soon as the burner ignites.
• Let the heater cool down to ambient temperature before you touch it
• Keep the area surrounding the heater and interior parts free of grease,
fat, alcoholic substances, plastic or inflammable cloths (for instance
curtains, towels, kitchen utensils).
• Be careful when heating grease or oil. Grease and oil catch fire when
exposed to great heat.
• Use only dry pot cloths to prevent the formation of steam. Do not use
towels or the like instead of pot cloths as these can catch fire.
• Never leave the heater unattended when cooking. Pots boiling over
can cause smoke and fires.

The Origo heater 5100 is a non-pressurized alcohol heater designed for use in vehi-
cles or boats. It can be used as heater or as cooking device.
6 Technical description
The heater is made of aluminium and stainless steel and uses the absorption princi-
ple. The canister has a capacity of 1.2 l. Denatured or soot free alcohol is used as fuel.
Alcohol is absorbed into a non-flammable material in the canister.
➤ Ensure the heater is cooled down to room temperature.
➤ Take off the top cover (1).
➤ Release the burner (4) from outer container (9) by pressing lock spring (10).
➤ Lift the grid (3).

➤ Check the fuel level by tilting the canister (8) vertically (fig. 3, page 4).
Keep it in this position for 20 s, to make sure it's not overfilled. In addition, in the
case of accidental overfilling you can get rid of the surplus fuel.
✓ The maximum fuel level is reached when the fuel is visible in the recess inside the
canister opening (fig. 3, page 4).
➤ Wipe possible spilt alcohol off the outside of the canister (8).
➤ Fasten the burner (4) to the canister (8).
Ensure that the four springs (7) hold the canister.
➤ Place the unit of canister (8), burner (4) and grid (3) into the heater.
Ensure that the lock springs (10) hold this unit.
7.2 Lighting the heater (fig. 1, page 3)
➤ Take off the top cover (1).
➤ To open burner (4), pull out the regulator (5) and turn it to the left (ON).
➤ Place a lighter in the ignition hole of the burner (4) and light it.
➤ Adjust the flame so it does not extend beyond the edge of the pot.
–To increase the heat, turn regulator (5) towards left (ON).
–To reduce the heat, turn regulator (5) towards right (OFF).
NOTE The heater will operate even if the canister isn’t filled with the maximum

If you use the device as heater
➤ Place the top cover (1) on the outer container (9).
➤ Ensure the strap (2) is placed on the outside of the heater.
If you use the device as cocking appliance
➤ Do not use the top cover (1).
➤ Put your pot or pan directly on the grid (3).
7.3 Extinguish the flame (fig. 1, page 3)
➤ Turn the regulator (5) fully to right (OFF).
✓ The burner (4) is closed.
➤ Wait about five seconds.
➤ Turn regulator (5) fully to left (ON) to make sure the flame is extinguished.
✓ The burner (4) is open.
➤ Turn the regulator (5) fully to right (OFF).

8 Cleaning and maintaining the heater
➤ Clean the heater periodically. In particular remove carefully sticky grease and oil.
