Preparing the assembly

Saw the pipe end to be connected at a right angle.

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Preparing the assembly - 1

NOTE

  • Observe the permissible angle tolerance of 0.5^ . Deviations in shape at the end of the pipe, e.g. diagonally sawn pipes, reduce the service life and leak tightness of the fitting.
  • Remove burrs with a deburring tool or sandpaper.
  • Remove impurities and coats of paint.

Optional: Apply a suitable lubricant to the thread of the coupling nut to reduce torque and facilitate installation.

Method A: Direct assembly on coupling nipple

Fig. 8 on page 9

  1. Slide the coupling nut onto the pipe end.
  2. Slide the clamping ring with the cutting edge facing the end of the pipe in front of the coupling nut onto the pipe end.
  3. Place the coupling nipple on the pipe.
  4. Press the pipe against the end stop in the coupling nipple and pre-tighten the coupling nut by hand until there is a resistance.

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Fig. 8 on page 9 - 1

NOTE Ensure that the pipe touches the end stop in the coupling nipple so that the pipe can be cut by the clamping ring and create a tight connection.

  1. Hold the coupling nipple in place with one open-end wrench and tighten the coupling nut with a second open-end wrench by 1–1.5 turns.

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Fig. 8 on page 9 - 2

NOTICE! Damage hazard

Do not allow the pipe to rotate.
Ensure that the coupling nut is tightened correctly. If the coupling nut is tightened too weakly or too strongly, the pressure resistance and service life of the fitting will be reduced. This can lead to leaks or the pipe may slip out.

Method B: Pre-assembly with pre-assembly key and final assembly

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Method B: Pre-assembly with pre-assembly key and final assembly - 1

NOTE Pre-assembly with pre-assembly key is recommended for series assembly.

Fig. 9 on page 10

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Fig. 9 on page 10 - 1

NOTE The cones of a pre-assembly key are subject to wear. Check the cones for accuracy at regular intervals using cone gauges. Replace pre-assembly keys whose cones do not have the required accuracy or show signs of wear.

  1. Slide the coupling nut onto the pipe end.
  2. Slide the clamping ring with the cutting edge facing the end of the pipe in front of the coupling nut onto the pipe end.
  3. Place the pre-assembly key on the pipe.
  4. Press the pipe against the end stop in the pre-assembly key and pre-tighten the clamping ring and coupling nut by hand until there is resistance.

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Fig. 9 on page 10 - 2

NOTE Ensure that the pipe touches the end stop in the pre-assembly key so that the pipe can be cut by the clamping ring and create a tight connection.

  1. Hold the pre-assembly key in place and tighten the coupling nut with an open-end wrench by 1 - 1.5 turns. Do not turn more than half a turn beyond this point.

DOMETIC CVH1700G - Fig. 9 on page 10 - 3

NOTICE! Damage hazard

Ensure that the coupling nut is tightened correctly. If the coupling nut is tightened too weakly or too strongly, the pressure resistance and service life of the fitting will be reduced. This can lead to leaks or the pipe may slip out.

DOMETIC CVH1700G - NOTICE! Damage hazard - 1

NOTE Prevent the pipe from rotating.

  1. Remove the pre-assembly key.
