Common reasons for the absence of the DCF symbol

Blocked signal: Place the thermometer near a window. Thick walls, reinforced concrete, metal structures, or an underground location can block the DCF-77 signal from Mainflingen, Germany.
Electronic interference: Keep the device at least 1.5 to 2 meters away from computers, televisions, microwaves, cordless phones, and other electronic devices that may disrupt reception.
Limited automatic synchronization: The TFA 30.3060.01 automatically synchronizes its clock only between 1 AM and 5 AM. If you performed the reset outside of these hours, wait until the next morning to give the thermometer a chance to receive the signal.
Geographical location: If you are very far from Mainflingen (Germany) or in a mountainous area, reception may be impossible or very unstable.

Why doesn't the DCF symbol blink when changing the battery?

It is normal for the DCF not to blink during a simple battery change. The DCF symbol only blinks during active search for a radio synchronization with the time signal (77.5 kHz from Mainflingen).

Expected behavior of the DCF:

Blinks: only when receiving the current DCF signal (generally between 1 AM and 5 AM)
Continuously lit: radio synchronization has succeeded
No symbol: no reception / clock in manual mode

After changing the battery, you must restore the contact between the transmitter and the base station by pressing the CH button for 3 seconds (see page 6 of the manual). The DCF symbol will only blink if the signal is received at the time of this action.

If you want to force a manual search for the DCF signal, hold the CH button for 3 seconds once the transmitter-receiver connection is restored. The DCF symbol will then blink upon receiving the time signal.

Tip: DCF reception works best between 1 AM and 5 AM when the signal is available. If you test during the day, the DCF symbol will not appear.
