Importeur:

  • The minimum measurement time until the beep must be maintained without exception.
  • Discuss the measured values with your doctor.
  • The temperature measured at the forehead area differs from the core body temperature, which is obtained by taking an oral or rectal measurement with a clinical thermometer.
  • Check the measurement result with a conventional clinical thermometer:

  • if you are using the thermometer for the first time, or you are not yet familiar with the correct use of the device

  • if the measurement result is surprisingly low and does not match the state of health
  • for newborns up to 6 months of age

  • Steam, dust, smoke, etc., can prevent accurate measurement by obstructing the device's optics.
  • The device is not waterproof. Protect it from moisture. Do not immerse in water or other liquids.
  • To clean and disinfect the unit, please follow the instructions in the section "Care and Maintenance".

4. Measuring procedure

- Every object releases infrared energy. The optical detector senses the infrared energy, converts this information into a digital reading and the surface temperature is displayed.

4.1 Measurement of body temperature

  • In the default setting, in body temperature mode, the thermometer measures the temperature of the infrared heat given by the arterial blood supply under the forehead area and converts this temperature into an oral equivalent temperature. The measurement result is displayed within 1 second. The contactless measuring method allows, for example, to take the temperature of babies without disturbing them during sleep.
  • Many people believe that normal body temperature is 37^ , however body temperature, like blood pressure, varies from person to person and during the day. It may range from 35.5^ (95.9°F) to 37.8^ (100.4°F).
  • We should remember as well that oral temperature is normally lower by 0.5^ (0.9^) from rectal temperature. The forehead temperature is converted by the infrared forehead thermometer to the commonly used oral temperature. For some people it may show some difference from their normal oral temperature.

Therefore: Practice is important!

- We recommend that you practise using the thermometer on yourself and your family when you're in a healthy condition. In this way you can improve your technique and obtain a reference value for normal body temperature of each member of your family. This in turn will help you to feel more confident to take the temperature when someone is ill.

6. Getting started

  • The battery compartment is located on the back of the device. Open the battery compartment by sliding the battery cover down.
  • Insert two new AAA 1.5 V batteries with the correct polarity.
  • After inserting the batteries, the device automatically enters the temperature unit setting mode. You will hear two beeps and °C is flashing. Press the measuring button briefly to select between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) as the temperature unit while the display is flashing. Press and hold the measuring button for 3 seconds to confirm the selection. The device switches off. If you do not make any settings, the device switches off automatically after approx. 30 seconds. The default setting is °C.
  • Close the battery compartment again. The cover is properly inserted in the housing, as soon as a click is heard.

7. Operation

7.1 Measuring body temperature on the forehead (Fig. 2)

  • Avoid taking a measurement less than 30 minutes after physical exercise, bathing or dining.
  • The thermometer and the person to be measured should be in the same room under constant ambient conditions at least 15 minutes before the measurement.
  • Always make sure that the sensor is clean and undamaged.
  • Clean the forehead from sweat, makeup, etc

Infrared Forehead Thermometer DT-8807S GB

  • Now point the measuring sensor at a suitable measuring spot in the middle of the forehead at a distance of about 1 to 4cm .
  • Hold it steadily at this position and press the measuring button. «---» is displayed.
  • A beep will sound once the measurement is completed, after approx. 1 second. The unit now displays the symbol for body temperature mode (default mode) and the measured temperature. If the temperature taken is lower than 32^ , LO is displayed. If the temperature is higher than 42^ , HI appears.
  • The device switches off automatically after approx. 7 seconds, if no button is pressed.
  • For repeated accurate measurements, always measure at the same spot.

REMEMBER:

  • The forehead temperature is equivalent to oral temperature (oral temperature is normally 0.5°C less than rectal measured temperature.) This is based on the average population. For some people it may be different and it is recommended to learn and recognize the forehead temperature while healthy.
  • Alternatively, you can also measure the body temperature in the ear hole, on the earlobe or under the armpit.

7.2 Measuring surface temperature

  • After power on, press and hold the measuring button. The symbol for body temperature mode is flashing. Press the measuring button briefly. The surface temperature mode symbol is flashing. Press and hold the measuring button for 3 seconds to confirm the selection.
  • Caution: If you do not make any settings, the symbol continues to flash. The device does not switch off automatically.
  • Simply aim at the target and press the measuring button. A beep will sound once the measurement is completed, after approx. 1 second. The unit now displays the symbol for surface temperature mode and the measured temperature.

Note:

- This mode shows the actual and unadjusted surface temperature which is different from body temperature.

Infrared Forehead Thermometer DT-8807S GB

  • To get the most accurate temperature reading, aim at the target as near as possible.
  • Not suitable for measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces (stainless steel, aluminium, etc.).
  • The device cannot measure through transparent surfaces such as glass or plastic. It will measure the surface temperature of the glass instead.

8. Care and maintenance

  • The sensor is the most delicate part of the infrared thermometer. Please protect the sensor part from dirt.
  • For cleaning, please use a cotton swab soaked with medical alcohol (70-75%).
  • Allow the sensor to dry completely for at least 1 minute.
  • Clean the rest of the unit with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.
  • Remove the batteries if you are not going to use the device for a long period of time.

8.1 Battery replacement

  • Change the batteries when the battery symbol appears on the display.
  • Confirm the unit is switched off before changing batteries.
  • Please follow the instructions on the section "Getting started".
