Frequently Asked Questions - GMC6SBK GORENJE

How to open the lid after cooking?
Make sure the pressure has fully dropped: the float valve must be lowered. Turn the lid counterclockwise to the open position, then lift it. Never force the lid open if pressure is still present.
Steam is escaping from the lid, what to do?
Check that the sealing ring is properly installed and clean. If the ring is damaged, replace it. Also make sure the lid is properly closed and locked.
The float valve does not rise during cooking, why?
This may be due to insufficient food or water in the pot. Add enough liquid according to the recipe. Also check that the exhaust valve is in the closed position.
How to clean the pressure cooker?
Unplug and let it cool. Remove the inner pot and wash it with mild soap. Clean the lid, seal, exhaust valve and float valve with a brush and cloth. Do not immerse the appliance body.
Why is the rice overcooked or too hard?
For overcooked rice, reduce the amount of water. For too hard rice, increase water. After cooking, leave the lid closed for an additional 5 minutes before opening.
Can I use the delayed start function for all cooking?
No, the Sauté and Keep warm functions are not compatible with delayed start. For other programs, press 'Delay' before starting.
The power indicator does not light up, what to do?
Check the electrical outlet and power cord. Make sure the lid is properly closed (buttons are inactive if lid is not locked). If the problem persists, contact an authorized distributor.
How to release steam quickly?
Turn the exhaust valve to the 'exhaust' position (or press the steam release button if present). Never place your hands or face over the vent. Beware of burns.
Can I open the lid immediately after cooking soup?
No, for liquid foods (porridge, soup), do not release steam manually. Let the appliance cool naturally until the float valve drops, then open.
Where can I find spare parts?
Use only genuine Gorenje parts (sealing ring, anti-blockage cover, etc.). Contact an authorized distributor or Gorenje after-sales service. Any repair must be carried out by a professional.

Quick start guide

  • Please use the handle on the cooker body when moving the appliance; • To remove any water from the housing cover, use a cloth.
  • Exhaust valve: Pull the exhaust valve out of the lid. At least once a month, clean the inside of the exhaust valve, as well as the exhaust valve and float valve on the lid, using a brush and cloth. • Sealing ring: Please remove oil and dirt from the sealing ring using detergent and a brush.
  • Water box: After cooking, residual steam may collect in the water box of the outer pot as water. To prevent unpleasant odours, please clean it by wiping it with a clean cloth and removing any remaining water.

Disassemble and Install the Block Proof Cover and Seal Ring

Disassemble and install the block proof cover:

  • Before each use, check that the seal ring and block proof cover are properly installed in the upper cover. • After use, please clean the seal ring and the area around the block proof cover to prevent the cover from jamming, keep it clean to avoid unpleasant odors.

Use and Maintain the Inner Pot

- Do not empty.

It may cause the inner pot to become yellowish and stained or the bottom to warp if left empty for a long time.

• Do not use it to store acid, alkali, and canned food for a long time.

Although the inner pot has excellent anti-corrosion performance, prolonged storage may lead to corrosion to some extent. It is recommended that the suggested keep-warm time does not exceed 2 hours.

- Keep it clean to prolong its life.

Do not immerse it in water for a long time.

Clean the inner pot with soap, mild detergent, or warm water to remove dust, oil, and dirt.

• Do not use a metal scoop or another hard tool as it will damage the inner surface of the pot.

Prepare for Cooking

• How to correctly open the upper cover.

Hold the upper cover handle and turn it counterclockwise about 30 degrees until the cover is unlocked, then lift the upper cover.

Cover UnlockedDiagram of a mechanical component with no visible text or symbols

Check that the floater valve has dropped down before operating the cooker (it is down prior to heating).

General operation

  • Turn on the pressure cooker. If the buttons are inactive, make sure the upper cover is properly closed. If the upper cover is not closed correctly, the buttons will be inactive. • After cooking, the cooker may automatically enter the keep-warm state. In this case, the indicator will display "00:00 (0 min), 00:01 (1 min), 00:02 (2 min)..."
