Frequently Asked Questions - NT 30/1 Ap Te M Kärcher

What types of dust can I vacuum with the Kärcher NT 30/1 Ap Te M?
This vacuum cleaner is designed for vacuuming non-flammable dry dusts of dust class M (exposure limit value ≥ 0.1 mg/m³). It must not be used for carcinogenic materials. For fine dusts, use a felt filter bag or a recycling bag.
How do I vacuum water with this device?
First remove the felt filter bag or the recycling bag. Mount the rubber lips on the floor nozzle (the structured side outward). Seal the suction hose connector with the supplied plug. The device stops automatically when the maximum liquid level is reached (except for non-conductive liquids).
How to clean the pleated flat filter?
The filter is cleaned semi-automatically: close the suction hose with your hand and press the filter cleaning button 5 times while the device is running. A pulsating air flow cleans the filter. Perform this operation every 5 to 10 minutes to extend the filter life.
What to do if the suction power decreases?
Check and remove obstructions from the nozzle, tube or suction hose. Empty or replace the filter bag or recycling bag if full. Clean the pleated flat filter with the semi-automatic cleaning. If necessary, replace the pleated flat filter.
How to use the power outlet for electrical tools?
Plug the electrical tool into the vacuum cleaner's power outlet. Turn on the device with the rotary switch. The vacuum cleaner starts automatically with the tool and stops 15 seconds after. The maximum tool power must not exceed 2200 W (EU) or 1200 W (AU).
Why does the horn sound during use?
The horn sounds when the air speed in the suction hose drops below 20 m/s. Adjust the minimum volume flow on the suction power regulator of the tool adapter until the horn stops. If the problem persists, check that the bag or filter is not full.
How to maintain the level electrodes?
Unlock and remove the suction head. Clean the electrodes with a brush. If the automatic shutdown does not work (for water), dirty electrodes may be the cause. Also dry the area around the electrodes after wet vacuuming.
Can I use the vacuum cleaner without a filter?
No, the device does not work without the pleated flat filter. A monitoring device stops the device automatically if the filter is missing. Moreover, vacuuming without a filter exposes to dust harmful to health and can damage the motor.
How to transport and store the device?
For transport, close the hose connector (plug), remove the tube and nozzle, and carry the device by the transport handle and tube. In a vehicle, secure it against sliding. Store it in a dry indoor place. Store the hose and cable as indicated in the instructions (illustration M).
Which accessories and spare parts are recommended?
Use only original Kärcher accessories and spare parts. For fine dusts, use the felt filter bag (ref. 2.889-154.0) or the recycling bag (ref. 2.889-231.0). The replacement pleated flat filter is available from your dealer or at www.kaercher.com.

Initial startup

The device has 2 operating modes: 1 Industrial vacuum cleaner operation (power socket not used) 2 Dust removal operation (power socket used)

WARNING

Danger from dust that is harmful to your health

Respiratory sicknesses through inhalation of dust. Do not vacuum without correctly installed filter elements, otherwise a danger to health from increased fine dust emission is present.

ATTENTION

Risk of damage to the suction motor.

Never remove the flat fold filter when vacuuming.

  1. Connect the suction hose and attach a suction nozzle or connect to the dust generating device, depending on the operating mode.

Horn

The horn sounds when the air speed in the suction hose drops below 20m / s

Note

The horn reacts to a vacuum.

  1. Set the minimum flow rate (suction power) on the suction control of the tool adapter (infinitely adjustable) so that the horn stops.

Anti-static system

Static charges are discharged through the earthed connection nozzles. This prevents sparking and electric shocks with electrically conducting accessories (included in the scope of delivery).

Dry vacuuming

  • For particularly dust-free dirt disposal when vacuuming small to medium quantities of fine dust, we recommend using a fleece filter bag with cap, order number 2.889-154.0 (5 pieces). The device is fitted with a fleece filter bag.
  • For vacuuming large quantities of fine dust, we recommend using a dust bag with cable tie, order number 2.889-231.0 (10 pieces).

Note

All types of dust up to dust class M can be vacuumed with this device. The use of a dust collection bag (for order no. see filter systems) is required by law.
