USER MANUAL Tastea BJ551B TEFAL

  • Read the instructions for use carefully before using your appliance for the first time: the manufacturer does not accept responsibility for use that does not comply with the instructions.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
  • This appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or whose experience or knowledge is not sufficient, provided they are supervised or have received instruction to use the appliance safely and understand the dangers.
  • Children should not use the appliance as a toy.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.   • Only use your kettle for boiling drinking water.
  • Only plug the appliance into an earthed mains socket, or into an electrical extension lead with an integrated earth connection. Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate of the appliance corresponds to that of the mains voltage. You are advised not to use a multiple adapter plug.
  • Do not use the kettle when you have wet hands or bare feet.
  • Take care not to place the kettle and its base on a hot surface, such as a hot plate, or to use it near a naked flame.
  • Immediately remove the mains plug if you notice that the kettle is not operating correctly.
  • Do not pull on the power cord to remove the mains plug.
  • Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table or work surface in order to prevent the appliance from falling.
  • Always remain vigilant when the appliance is on, and in particular be careful of the steam coming out of the spout, which is very hot.
  • Also be careful as the body of stainless steel kettles becomes very hot during operation. Only touch the handle of the kettle.
  • Never touch the filter or the lid when the water is boiling.
  • Never move the kettle when it is in operation.
  • Our guarantee does not cover kettles that do not work properly or do not work at all because they have not been descaled.
  • Protect the appliance from damp and frost.
  • Unplug the appliance as soon as you have finished using it for a long period of time and when you clean it.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

The performance in water of our product are tested at 100% during manufacturing. It might still have some smudge of water inside the product. It does not compromize the quality and hygiene of our product.

1. Remove all packaging, stickers and accessories both inside and outside the tea maker.

2. Adjust the length of the cable by unwinding it from under the base. Hook the cable into

the slot. (Diagram 1) Fill the teapot with water and discard it two or three times as it could contain dust. Rinse the teapot, the tea basket and the lid separately. USE

1. Set the base on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface that is not exposed to

splashes of water or any heat source.

  • Grasp the teapot handle and remove the lid with the basket (diagram 2/3). Do not operate the tea maker without its lid. If the lid is lost or broken, please contact your After- Sales service centre.
  • The tea maker must only be used with the base provided.

3. Fill the teapot with the desired quantity of water (diagram 4)

  • Never fill the teapot when it is sitting on its base.
  • Do not fill it above the maximum level, or below the minimum level. If it is not filled to the minimum level, temperature accuracy cannot be reached (temperature accuracy+/-3°C).
  • If the teapot is too full, boiling water may spill out. Do not operate the tea maker without water. Check that the lid is properly closed before use.
  • Do not put the tea basket back in the teapot.

4. Set the teapot on its base and REPLACE THE LID (diagram 5). Connect the tea maker

  • the base will light up and indicate the water temperature in real time.(diagram5)

5. Starting the tea maker

A. Temperature selection – Press the temperature selection button (diagram 6), select the temperature: 40°C, 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, 85°C, 90°C, 95°C or 100°C. – The temperature selection indicator light flashes 4 times and beeps, and heating begins (diagram7). – Note: It is possible to start the cycle before the automatic start by pressing the on/off button. – When the required temperature is reached, the tea maker stops and beeps twice (diagram 8). B. Tea infusion – Without removing the teapot from its base, remove the lid from the tea basket (diagram 9) – Fill the tea basket with the desired quantity of tea leave or tea bag(s) (diagram 10) – Replace the tea basket in the teapot, taking care not to burn yourself by touching the lid (diagram 11). – Replace the lid of the tea basket (diagram 12). – Press the infusion time selection button (diagram 13), select the infusion time: 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min, 5 min, 6 min, 7 min, 8 min, 9 min or 10 min Note: Your tea will automatically be infused at the pre-selected temperature. – Once the infusion time is reached, the tea maker stops and beeps twice (diagram 14). Note: It is possible to start the cycle before the automatic start by pressing the on/off button. – So that the tea is not over-infused, remove the tea basket from the teapot and replace the lid (diagram 15), your tea is ready to be served (diagram 16). C. Keep Warm function Once your tea is infused, it is possible to keep the pre-selected temperature (maximum 95°C) for the time you desire. – Replace the teapot on its control base (diagram 17). – Press the Keep Warm selection button (diagram 18), select the time: 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, 5 hours, 6 hours, 7 hours or 8hours. Once the Keep Warm function has finished: – The tea maker stops and beeps twice. D. Shut-down and standby If no cycle is ongoing and if no buttons are pressed, the machine goes automatically into standby mode and switches off after 5 minutes. The machine can be switched on again simply by pressing the on/off button. If you wish to switch the machine off manually, press and hold the on/off button.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

CLEANING YOUR TEA MAKER

Unplug it. Let it cool down and clean it with a damp sponge.

Never immerse the tea maker, its base, the cord or the electric plug in water or any other liquid: the electrical connections or the switch must not come into contact with water or any other liquid.

Do not use scouring pads.

When your tea maker has finished infusing, prevent temperature shocks with cold water.

Do not put the product parts in the dishwasher.

The lid gasket has been designed to be removable in order to allow clean the lid. EN1110 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Your appliance contains many recoverable or recyclable materials. Take it to a local municipal waste collection point.

PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC ACCIDENTS

For a child, a burn or scald, even if slight, can sometimes be serious. As they grow up, teach your children to beware of hot liquids found in the kitchen. Position the tea maker and its supply cord well to the rear of the work surface, out of the reach of children. If an accident does occur, run cold water over the scald immediately and call a doctor if necessary.

In order to prevent any accidents: do not carry your child or baby at the same time as drinking or carrying a hot drink.

IN THE EVENT OF PROBLEMS

THERE IS NO EVIDENT DAMAGE TO YOUR TEA MAKER

  • The tea maker does not work or stops before coming to the boil – Check that your tea maker is properly connected. – The tea maker has been switched on without water or an accumulation of scale has triggered the over-heat cut-off mechanism: allow the tea maker to cool down and fill it with water. Descale first if scale has accumulated. Switch it on: the tea maker should start working again after about 15minutes. IF YOUR TEA MAKER HAS BEEN DROPPED, IF IT LEAKS OR IF THERE IS VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE POWER CORD, THE PLUG OR THE BASE OF THE TEA MAKER. Return your tea maker to your After-Sales Service Centre, only they are authorised to carry out repairs. Refer to the warranty conditions and list of centres in the booklet supplied with your tea maker. The type and serial number are shown on the bottom of your tea maker. This warranty covers manufacturing defects and domestic use only. Any breakage or damage resulting from failure to comply with the instructions for use is not covered by the warranty.

The manufacturer reserves the right to modify the characteristics or components of its tea makers at any time in the interests of the consumer.

Stop using the tea maker. No attempt must be made to dismantle the tea maker or its safety devices.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service centre or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid any danger. DESCALING De-scale regularly, preferably at least once a month or more frequently if your water is very hard. To de-scale your tea maker:

  • Using white vinegar: – Fill the teapot with 0.5 L of white vinegar. – Leave to stand for 1 hour without heating.
  • Using citric acid: – Boil 0.5 L of water. – Add 25 g of citric acid and leave to stand for 15 min.
  • Empty the teapot and rinse 5 or 6 times. Repeat if necessary. To de-scale your tea basket and lid: Soak the tea basket and lid in white vinegar or diluted citric acid.

Never use a de-scaling method other than the recommended method.
