Compressor Translation of original instruction manual
Explanation of the symbols on the equipment Read and follow the operating and safety instructions before you start working with this power tool. Wear respiratory protection. Wear ear-mus. The impact of noise can cause damage to hearing. Beware of hot parts! Beware of electrical voltage! Warning! Automatic start-up. Do not expose the machine to rain. The operating instructions are intended to help the user to become familiar with the machine and take advantage of its application possibilities in accordance with the recommendations. The operating instructions contain important informa- tion on how to operate the machine safely, profession- ally and economically, how to avoid danger, costly re- pairs, reduce downtimes and how to increase reliability and service life of the machine. In addition to the safety regulations in the operating instructions, you have to meet the applicable regula- tions that apply for the operation of the machine in your country. Keep the operating instructions package with the machine at all times and store it in a plastic cover to protect it from dirt and moisture. Work area safety a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b. Do not operate power tools in explosive at- mospheres, such as in the presence of am- mable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c. Keep children and bystanders away while op- erating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Electrical safety a. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b. Avoid body contact with earthed or ground- ed surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet con- ditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d. Do not use the cable for another purpose, for example, carrying or hanging the power tool or pulling the plug out of the socket. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving device parts. Damaged or coiled cables in- crease the risk of an electric shock. e. If you work with a power tool outdoors, only use extension cables that are also suitable for outdoor use. Using an extension cable suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of an electric shock. Only use approved and appropriately identied ex- tension cables for use outdoors. Only use cable reels in the unrolled state. f. If operating a power tool in a damp loca- tion is unavoidable, use a residual current circuit breaker with a trigger current of 30 mA or less to protect the power supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
- Open the packaging and remove the device care- fully.
- Remove the packaging material as well as the pack aging and transport bracing (if available).
- Check that the delivery is complete.
- Check the device and accessory parts for trans- port damage.
- If possible, store the packaging until the warranty period has expired.
The compressor is designed to generate compressed air for compressed-air driven tools which can be driven with an air volume of up to approx. 90 l/min (e.g. tire inator, blow-out pistol and paint spray gun). The compressor may only be operated in a dry and well ventilated indoor space. The equipment is to be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufactur- er will be liable for any damage or injuries of any kind caused as a result of this. Please note that our equipment has not been designed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the equipment is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.
5. General safety information
WARNING! Read all safety information, instructions, il- lustrations and technical data for this electric tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, re and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future ref- erence. The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-powered electrical tools (with a mains cable) and battery-powered electrical tools (without a mains cable).www.scheppach.com
Power tool use and care a. Do not overload the device. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and o. Any power tool that can- not be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjust- ments, changing accessories, or storing pow- er tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Unused power tools should be stored in a dry, el- evated or closed location out of the reach of chil- dren. e. Maintain power tools and accessories. Check whether moving parts function properly and do not get stuck and whether parts are broken or are damaged and thus adversely aect the electric tool function. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. g. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for op- erations dierent from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. h. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations. Personal safety a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or med- ication. A moment of carelessness when using electrical tools can result in serious injuries. b. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non- skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce per- sonal injuries. c. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the o-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A tool or spanner that is located in a rotating de- vice part may result in injuries. e. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unex- pected situations. f. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and anti-slip footwear are recom- mended when working outdoors. Tie long hair back in a hair net. g. If dust extraction and collection devices can be mounted, make sure that they are connect- ed and used properly. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards. h. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.www.scheppach.com
Use of other tools or accessories that those rec- ommended in the operating manual or in the cat- alogue could represent a personal danger to you.
5. Replacing the connection line
- If the connection line is damaged, it must be re- placed by the manufacturer or an electrician to avoid danger. There is a risk of electric shock.
- Directly after inating tyres, check the pressure with a suitable pressure gauge, for example at your lling station.
7. Street-legal compressors in construction site op-
eration - Ensure that all hoses and xtures are suitable for the maximum permissible working pressure of the compressor.
- Only set up the compressor on a at surface.
9. It is recommended to equip the feed hoses with a
safety cable in cases where the pressure is above 7 bar, e.g. using a wire cable.
10. Avoid over-stressing the piping system by using
exible hose connections to prevent kinking.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Observe the corresponding operating manuals of the respective compressed air tools / compressed air attachments! The following general instructions must also be observed: Safety instructions for working with compressed air and blasting guns
- Ensure there is sucient distance to the product, at least 2.50 m, and keep the compressed air tools / compressed air attachments away from the com- pressor during operation.
- The compressor pump and lines can become very hot during operation. Touching these parts will burn you.
- The air which is sucked in by the compressor must be kept free of impurities that could cause res or explosions in the compressor pump.
- When releasing the hose coupling, hold the hose coupling piece with your hand. This way, you can protect yourself against injury from the rebounding hose.
- Wear safety goggles when working with the blow- out pistol. Foreign objects or blown o parts can easily cause injuries. Service a. Have your power tool serviced by a qualied repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Safety instructions for compressors m Attention! The following basic safety measures must be observed when using this compressor for pro- tection against electric shock, and the risk of injury and re. Read and observe these instructions before using the device. Safe work.
1. Take care of your tools
- Keep your compressor clean in order to work well and safely. - Follow the maintenance instructions. - Check the connection cable of the power tool reg- ularly and have it replaced by a recognised spe- cialist when damaged. - Check extension cables regularly and replace them when damaged.
2. Pull the connector out of the socket
- When the power tool is not in use or prior to main- tenance and when replacing tools such as saw blades, bits, milling heads.
3. Check the power tool for potential damage
- Protective devices or other parts with minor dam- age must be carefully inspected to ensure that they function correctly and as intended prior to continued use of the power tool. - Check whether the moving parts function fault- lessly and do not jam or whether parts are dam- aged. All parts must be correctly mounted and all conditions must be fullled to ensure fault-free operation of the power tool. - Damaged protective devices and parts must be properly repaired or replaced by a recognised workshop, insofar as nothing dierent is specied in the operating manual. - Do not use any faulty or damaged connection cables.
- For your own safety, only use accessories and additional equipment that are indicated in the operating manual or have been rec- ommended or indicated by the manufacturer.www.scheppach.com
Operation of pressure vessels
- Anyone who operates a pressure vessel must keep this in good working order, operate and monitor it correctly, perform the necessary maintenance and servicing works immediately and implement safe- ty measures as required according to the circum- stances.
- The regulatory authority can instruct necessary monitoring measures in individual cases.
- A pressure vessel must not be operated if it exhib- its a defect that poses a danger to personnel or third parties.
- Check the pressure vessel for rust and damage each time before use. The compressor shall not be operated if the pressure vessel is damaged or rusty. If you discover damage, please contact the custom- er service workshop. Warning! This power tool generates an electromag- netic eld during operation. This eld can impair active or passive medical implants under certain conditions. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the power tool. Keep these safety instructions in a safe place.
The machine has been built according to the state-of- the-art and the recognised technical safety require- ments. However, individual residual risks can arise during operation.
- Health hazard due to electrical power, with the use of improper electrical connection cables.
- Furthermore, despite all precautions having been met, some non-obvious residual risks may still re- main.
- Residual risks can be minimised if the “Safety infor- mation” and the “Proper use” together with the oper- ating manual as a whole are observed.
- Avoid accidental starting of the machine: the oper- ating button may not be pressed when inserting the plug in an outlet. Use the tool that is recommended in this operating manual. This is how to ensure that your machine provides optimum performance.
- Keep your hands away from the work area, when the machine is in operation.
- Wear safety goggles and a respirator when working with the compressed air pistol. Dusts are harmful to health! Foreign objects or blown o parts can easily cause injuries.
- Do not blow at people with the blow-out pistol and do not clean clothes while being worn. Risk of injury! Safety instructions when using spraying attach- ments (e.g. paint sprayers):
1. Keep the spray attachment away from the com-
pressor when lling so that no liquid comes into contact with the compressor.
2. Never spray in the direction of the compressor
when using the spraying attachments (e.g. paint sprayers). Moisture can lead to electrical hazards!
3. Do not process any paints or solvents with a ash
point below 55° C. Risk of explosion!
4. Do not heat up paints or solvents. Risk of explosion!
5. If hazardous liquids are processed, wear protec-
tive lter units (face guards). Also, adhere to the safety information provided by the manufacturers of such liquids.
6. The details and designations of the Ordinance on
Hazardous Substances, which are displayed on the outer packaging of the processed material, must be observed. Additional protective measures are to be undertaken if necessary, particularly the wearing of suitable clothing and masks.
7. Do not smoke during the spraying process and/or
in the work area. Risk of explosion! Paint vapours are easily combustible.
8. Never set up or operate the equipment in the vicini-
ty of a re place, open lights or sparking machines.
9. Do not store or eat food and drink in the work area.
Paint vapours are harmful to your health.
10. The work area must exceed 30 m³ and sucient
ventilation must be ensured during spraying and drying.
11. Do not spray against the wind. Always adhere to
the regulations of the local police authority when spraying combustible or hazardous materials.
12. Do not process media such as white spirit, butyl
alcohol and methylene chloride with the PVC pres- sure hose.
13. These media will destroy the pressure hose.
14. The work area must be separated from the com-
pressor so that it cannot come into direct contact with the working medium.www.scheppach.com
- Make sure that the intake air is dry and dustfree.
- Do not install the compressor in a damp or wet room.
- The compressor may only be used in suitable rooms (with good ventilation and an ambient temperature from +5 °C to 40 °C). There must be no dust, ac- ids, vapors, explosive gases or inammable gases in the room.
- The compressor is designed to be used in dry rooms. It is prohibited to use the compressor in ar- eas where work is conducted with sprayed water.
- The compressor may only be used outdoor briey when the ambient conditions are dry.
- The compressor must always be kept dry and must not be left outdoors after work is complete.
8. Attachment and operation
8.1 Mains connection
- The compressor is equipped with a mains cable with shock-proof plug. This can be connected to any 220 - 240 V~ / 50 Hz shock-proof socket which is pro- tected by a 16 A fuse.
- Before you use the machine, make sure that the mains voltage is the same as the operating voltage (see the rating plate).
- Long supply cables, extensions, cable reels etc. cause a drop in voltage and can impede motor start-up.
- At low temperatures below +5 °C, sluggishness may make starting dicult or impossible.
8.2 On/o switch (g. 2)
- The compressor is switched on by setting the switch (15) to position I.
- The compressor is switched o by setting the switch (15) to position 0.
8.3 Pressure adjustment: (g. 1)
- The pressure at the manometer (5) can be adjusted with the pressure regulator (7).
- The pressure set can be utilised by connecting to the quick-coupling (6).
8.4 Setting the pressure switch
- The pressure switch is set at the factory. Cut-in pressure approx. 6 bar. Cut-out pressure approx. 8 bar.

7. Before starting the equipment
- Before you connect the equipment to the mains sup- ply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.
- Check the equipment for damage which may have occurred in transit. Report any damage immediately to the transport company which was used to deliver the compressor.
- Install the compressor near the point of consump- tion.www.scheppach.com
- Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall outlet.
- Cracks due to the insulation ageing. Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation damage. Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Make sure that the connection cable does not hang on the power network during the inspection. Electrical connection cables must comply with the ap- plicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables with the marking „H05VV-F“. The printing of the type designation on the connection cable is mandatory. AC motor
- The mains voltage must be 220 - 240 V~
- Extension cables up to 25 m long must have a cross-section of 1.5 mm
Connections and repairs of electrical equipment may only be carried out by an electrician. Please provide the following information in the event of any enquiries:

10. Cleaning, maintenance, storage
and spare-part ordering m Important! Pull out the power plug before doing any cleaning and maintenance work on the equipment. Risk of injury from electric shock! m Important! Wait until the equipment has cooled down completely! Risk of burns! m Important! Always depressurize the equipment before carrying out any cleaning and maintenance work! Risk of injury!
- Keep the equipment free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it down with compressed air at low pressure.
8.5 Using the tyre inater
The compressed air tyre ination device (13) is used to inate car tyres. With the corresponding accessories it can also be used to inate and regulate bicycle tyres, inatable dinghies, air mattresses, balls etc. Pressure can be released by actuating the vent valve. Important! The manometer has not been ocially cal- ibrated! After inating, please check the air pressure with a calibrated device.
8.6 Using the air blow gun
You can also use the air blow gun (12) to clean out cav- ities and to clean soiled surfaces and work equipment. Always wear protective goggles when doing so!
8.7 Using the adapter set
The adapter set enables you to use the following addi- tional capabilities of the tyre ination device: Pumping up balls with the help of the ball needle (9). The valve adapter (10) enables bicycle tyres to be in- ated. Filling pools, air mattresses or boats with the help of the additional adapter (11).
9. Electrical connection
The electrical motor installed is connected and ready for operation. The connection complies with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. The customer‘s mains connection as well as the ex- tension cable used must also comply with these regulations. When working with spray attachments and during tem- porary use outdoors, the device must be connected to a residual current circuit breaker with a trigger current of 30 mA or less. Damaged electrical connection cable The insulation on electrical connection cables is of- ten damaged. This may have the following causes:
- Passage points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors.
- Kinks where the connection cable has been improp- erly fastened or routed.
- Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over.www.scheppach.com
m Important! Store the compressor only in a dry location which is not accessible to unauthorized persons. Always store upright, never tilted!
10.4.1 Releasing excess pressure
Release the excess pressure by switching o the com- pressor and using the compressed air which is still left in the pressure vessel, e.g. with a compressed air tool running in idle mode or with a blow-out pistol.
10.5 Transport (g. 2/4)
The compressor can be transported with the handle (16). To do so, wind the mains cable (14) onto the ca- ble holder (4).

10.6.1 Service information

11. Disposal and recycling
Notes for packaging The packaging materials are recy- clable. Please dispose of packag- ing in an environmentally friendly manner.
- We recommend that you clean the equipment im- mediately after you use it.
- Clean the equipment regularly with a damp cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these may be aggressive to the plastic parts in the equipment. Ensure that no water can get into the interior of the equipment.
- You must disconnect the hose and any spraying tools from the compressor before cleaning. Do not clean the compressor with water, solvents or the like.
10.2 Maintenance of the pressure vessel (g. 1)
m Important! To ensure a long service life for the pressure vessel (2), drain o the condensate after each use by opening the drain screw (1). Release the vessel pressure rst (see 10.4.1). The drain screw is opened by turning it counter-clock- wise (when looking at the screw on the bottom of the compressor) so that the condensate can be complete- ly drained out of the pressure vessel. Then close the drain screw again (turn clockwise). Check the pres- sure vessel for rust and damage each time before use. The compressor shall not be operated if the pressure vessel is damaged or rusty. If you discover damage, please contact the customer service workshop.
10.3 Safety valve (g. 2)
The safety valve (17) has been set for the highest per- mitted pressure of the pressure vessel. It is not permitted to adjust the safety valve or remove the connection lock (17.2) between the exhaust nut (17.1) and its cap (17.3). Actuate the safety valve every 30 operating hours but at least 3 times a year, to ensure that it works when re- quired. Turn the perforated exhaust nut (17.1) counter- clockwise to open it and use your hands to pull the valve rod outwards over the perforated exhaust nut (17.1) to open the safety valve outlet. Now, the valve audibly releases air. Then, tighten the exhaust nut clockwise again.
m Important! Disconnect the device from the mains outlet and wind up the mains cable (14) on the cable holder (4). Vent the device and all connected compressed air tools. Store the compressor in such a way that it cannot be used by unauthorised persons.www.scheppach.com
Notes on the electrical and electronic equipment act [ElektroG] Waste electrical and electronic equipment does not belong in household waste, but must be collected and disposed of sepa- rately!
- Used batteries or rechargeable batteries that are not installed permanently in the old appliance must be removed non-destructively before disposal. Their disposal is regulated by the battery law.
- Owners or users of electrical and electronic devices are legally obliged to return them after use.
- The end user is responsible for deleting their per- sonal data from the old device being disposed of!
- The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin means that waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.
- Waste electrical and electronic equipment can be handed in free of charge at the following places: - Public disposal or collection points (e.g. municipal works yards) - Points of sale of electrical appliances (stationary and online), provided that dealers are obliged to take them back or oer to do so voluntarily. - Up to three waste electrical devices per type of device, with an edge length of no more than 25 centimetres, can be returned free of charge to the manufacturer without prior purchase of a new device from the manufacturer or taken to another authorised collection point in your vicinity. - Further supplementary take-back conditions of the manufacturers and distributors can be ob- tained from the respective customer service.
- If the manufacturer delivers a new electrical appli- ance to a private household, the manufacturer can arrange for the free collection of the old electrical appliance upon request from the end user. Please contact the manufacturer’s customer service for this.
- These statements only apply to devices installed and sold in the countries of the European Union and which are subject to the European Directive 2012/19/EU. Fault Possible cause Remedy The compressor does not start. No supply voltage. Check the supply voltage, the power plug and the socket-outlet. Insucient supply voltage. Make sure that the extension cable is not too long. Use an extension cable with large enough wires. Outside temperature is too low. Never operate with an outside temperature of below +5° C. Motor is overheated. Allow the motor to cool down. If necessary, remedy the cause of the overheating. The compressor starts but there is no pressure. The non-return valve leaks. Have a service center replace the non-return valve. The seals are damaged. Check the seals and have any damaged seals replaced by a service center. The drain plug for condensation water (1) leaks. Tighten the screw by hand. Check the seal on the screw and replace if necessary. The compressor starts, pressure is shown on the pres- sure gauge, but the tools do not start. The hose connections have a leak. Check the compressed air hose and tools and replace if necessary. A quick-lock coupling has a leak. Check the quick-lock coupling and replace if nec- essary.
