The speed-controlled cordless backpack sprayer is suitable for pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides etc.), liquid fertilizers, plant boosters, water. (Symbol on green background) Not suitable for acid-based weed killers (e.g. acetic acid, pelargonic acid etc.), peroxides, acids, alkalis and solvents. The device is not oil-resistant (i.e. not suitable for e.g. formwork oil). National regulations may restrict the use of the device. The user bears sole responsibility for any damage caused by inappropriate use. Generally accepted accident prevention regulations and the enclosed safety information must be observed. Pay attention to all parts of the text that are marked with this symbol for your own protection and for the protection of your device! Before using this device, read the entire operating instructions carefully and thoroughly. Store these operating instructions in a safe place. When passing on the device to third parties, it is important that the operating instructions are included. If the device is misused, operated incorrectly, not professionally repaired or manipulates, no liability is assumed for any damage that may occur and the warranty claim becomes void. The device must be used by trained operators only. Do not operate the device when drowsy, physically unwell, under the influence of drugs / alcohol / medication etc. Non-compliance with the safety and warning instructions can lead to injury or death of persons! The device may be subject to national regulations for regular inspection by designated bodies (Directive 2009/128/EC).

4.2 Handling / maintenance

Wear safety goggles, protective gloves, protective clothing and breathing protection adapted to the agent being used for spraying. Do not spray against the wind or use in strong winds. Do not apply more spraying agent than necessary for the area to be treated. Before each use ensure that the device is working properly, for example by carrying out a functional test with water.

The device must be emptied and cleaned after use, without polluting the environment. Do not use the device if there are other persons in the working area, and do not spray on people or animals. Maintenance and repair work may only be carried out by trained personnel or by the specialist dealer. Only original Metabo parts should be used. Do not leave the device exposed to sunlight. Exposure to heat and frost can damage the device. Before filling, after use and before maintenance work, release the residual pressure in the container, whilst keeping the discharge opening away from the body.

The disposal of excess spraying agent must be carried out in accordance with the valid safety regulations of the spraying agent`s manufacturer. Do not fill the spraying agent into unsuitable containers (bottles, cans etc.). Store the device and spraying agents in such a way that they out of the reach of children and pets. When handling spraying agents, eating, drinking and smoking is only permitted after removing the protective clothing and carefully cleaning the hands and face (rinse your mouth). Do not fill with highly combustible or flammable substances. Ensure that the desired agent is suited for this device. Should you have any doubts, please contact customer service. Spraying agents are used at your own risk. Adhere to the max. concentration and safety instructions provided by the spray agent`s manufacturer. Observe the safety data sheets. Different composition of the spraying agents and different application conditions (concentration, temperature, pressure etc.) influence the material resistance. The assigned colours green / red / blue and the general information on use are non-binding recommendations. We cannot guarantee their correctness in individual cases. You are using an electrical device. Protect from moisture.

4.4 Handling pesticides

The manufacturer is not aware of any harmful effects of the approved pesticide on their materials at the time of manufacture of the device. When operating the device, please observe the instructions for the application of pesticides in accordance with the Plant Protection Act.

When the device is not in use for a longer period of time, disconnect the battery pack. Incorrect handling of lithium batteries may result in a risk of fire, explosion and chemical burns. A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-ion battery packs! If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them with clean water and seek medical attention immediately! Protect battery packs from water and moisture! Do not use faulty or deformed battery packs! Do not expose battery packs to fire! Do not open battery packs! Do not touch or short circuit battery pack contacts! If the device is defective, remove the battery pack from the device. Remove the battery pack from the device before any adjustment or maintenance is carried out. Before fitting the battery pack, make sure that the device is switched off.

If the charger is not in use for a longer period of time, disconnect it from the battery pack. Do not cover the charger during the charging process. Do not charge overheated battery packs, let them cool down first. Stop the charging process if the battery pack heats up too much (> 55 - 60 °C). Use only to charge the battery packs belonging to the device. Read the operating instructions supplied with the charger.

Always secure the device when transporting it with vehicles. Transport only when switched off and without pressure. Transport of li-ion battery packs: The shipping of li-ion battery pack is subject to laws related to the carriage of hazardous goods (UN 3480 and UN 3481). Inform yourself of the currently valid specifications when shipping li- ion battery packs. If necessary, consult your freight forwarder. Certified packaging is available from Metabo. Only send the battery pack if the housing is intact and no fluid is leaking. Remove the battery pack from the device when shipping it. Prevent theENGLISH en

contacts from short-circuiting (e.g. by protecting them with adhesive tape).

Charge the battery pack before use. Recharge the battery pack if performance diminishes. Instructions on charging the battery pack can be found in the operating instructions of the Metabo charger. In case of Li-Ion battery packs with capacity and signal display (15) (equipment-specific): - Press the button (14), the LEDs indicate the charge level. - The battery pack is almost flat and must be recharged if one LED is flashing. Removing and inserting the battery pack Removal: press the battery pack release button (13) and pull the battery pack (12) forwards. Inserting: slide in the battery pack (12) until it engages.

7.1 Filling the container

Note: Prepare only the required amount of spraying agent. Note: Observe the mixing instructions of the manufacturer.

By turning the regulating nozzle (4) and the pressure setting (17), set the desired nozzle output. Regulating nozzle (4), see fig. page 3: Spraying = 0 turn Jet = 2 turn Determine flow quantity (if required): - Determine the flow quantity of the nozzle with the selected setting by spraying for 1 minute into a measuring cup. - Empty the contents of the measuring cup back into the container.

6. Initial Operation

4. Spraying: Hold the spraying lance (19) away

from yourself and operate the hand valve (16). Note: The electronics control the pump speed and switch the pump on and off. Note: Is the application time too short? Solution: Reduce the working pressure by turning the pressure setting (17) .

Dispose of residual material properly and in accordance with the manufacturer`s instructions. Do not use your mouth to blow out any residue: Danger of poisoning!

1. Empty container and rinse with clean water.

Set max. pressure on pressure setting (17). Turn regulating nozzle (4) to “jet” setting. Spray until no more liquid escapes.

3. Fill container with clean water, switch on the

device (max. pressure, “jet” setting). Spray until no more liquid escapes.

4. Clean regulating nozzle (4) with a soft brush (do

not use hard objects).

5. Store the container always empty, open and

protected from frost (min. 5 °C).

6. If not used for a longer period of time: store the

fully-charged battery pack separately from the device.

7.5 LED error display

Number of flashes of the LED display (18) and their meaning: 1x = battery pack empty – charge battery pack 2x = overheating of electronics – leave to cool down for 15 min 3x = no pressure / little pressure – see chapter 8. “Troubleshooting” 4× = autom. switch-off after 15 min of not in use 5x = autom. switch-off after 30 min of continuous operation 7x = overcurrent / short circuit Note: The LED display repeats 10 times Maintenance and repair work may only be carried out by trained personnel or by the specialist dealer and only using original Metabo parts. Motor runs, no pressure - Operate hand valve (16) and release pressure. - Suction valve is stuck - contact a specialist. (clean the device (see chapter 7.4). Remove the hose connection as shown. Insert the ball pump and pump several times which releases the valve. Reassemble. Motor runs, insufficient pressure / spraying output - Clean suction hose - contact a specialist. - Clean / replace filter - contact a specialist. 9. Maintenance and servicing

Use only accessories that fulfil the requirements and specifications listed in these operating instructions. Chargers: ASC Ultra, ASC 145, ASC 55, etc. Battery packs with different capacities. Buy battery packs only with voltage suitable for your power tool. Battery packs may not be disposed of with regular waste. Return faulty or used battery packs to your Metabo dealer! Do not allow battery packs to come into contact with water! Protect the environment, and do not dispose of devices and battery packs with household waste. Observe national regulations on separated collection and recycling of disused machines, packaging and accessories. Before disposal, discharge the battery pack in the tool. The actual load may be higher or lower depending on the operating conditions, the condition of the device or the accessories. Please allow for breaks and periods when the load is lower for assessment purposes. Arrange protective measures for the user, such as organisational measures based on the adjusted estimates.
