Frequently Asked Questions - Coolfun CK 40D DOMETIC

What are the two operating modes of the Coolfun CK 40D?
The Coolfun CK 40D is a hybrid refrigerator: it operates in thermoelectric mode on a 12 V socket (cigarette lighter) and in compressor mode on 230 V mains. In thermoelectric mode, it cools up to 20°C below ambient temperature but cannot freeze. In compressor mode, it can freeze down to -15°C.
How to set the temperature on the device?
In compressor mode (230 V), use the TEMP + and TEMP - buttons to adjust the temperature from +10°C to -15°C in 1°C increments. The display flashes to confirm the setting. In thermoelectric mode (12 V), the temperature is not adjustable.
Can I use the device in a car?
Yes, it is designed for mobile use. Plug it into a 12 V DC socket (cigarette lighter) of your vehicle. Make sure the ignition is on for the socket to be powered. When the engine is off, unplug it to avoid draining the battery.
What to do if the device does not cool?
First check the power supply: the DC socket must be energized (ignition on). Check the cigarette lighter fuse (15 A) and the device fuse (5 A). If the socket is dirty, clean it. As a last resort, the fan or compressor may be defective; only authorized professionals can repair.
How to clean the Coolfun CK 40D?
Before any cleaning, unplug the device. Clean the interior and exterior with a damp cloth (no running water, do not immerse). Do not use abrasive products. Ensure that the ventilation openings are clear.
How to defrost the device?
Moisture can cause frost. To defrost: remove food, turn off the device, leave the lid open, and wipe off the defrost water. Never use hard or sharp tools to remove ice.
What is the annual energy consumption?
The consumption is 99 kWh per year, with an energy class A+. On 12 V operation, the power is 48 W; on 230 V, it is 65 W.
Can the device be used in the rain?
No, the device must not be exposed to rain. It is designed for camping or vehicle use, sheltered from the weather.
How to save energy with this refrigerator?
Place the device in a ventilated area, out of direct sunlight. Let hot food cool before putting it inside. Open the lid as infrequently and briefly as possible.
What to do if the display does not light up?
Check the power connection and that the socket is live. If the device's fuse has blown, replace it with a matching fuse (5 A). If the problem persists, contact an authorized after-sales service.

Why is the temperature setting not working anymore and the fridge only freezes?
Frequently Asked Questions - 3 d
Response Notice-Facile

The temperature setting only works if the fridge is in Compressor (230V) mode. This is the most likely cause of the problem.

Checks to perform:

  • Check the current power mode - The Coolfun CK 40D has two independent systems: thermoelectric (12V) and compressor (230V). In thermoelectric mode, the TEMP +/- buttons do not work and the temperature cannot be adjusted.
  • Switch to compressor mode - Plug the device into a 230V outlet (no cigarette lighter or 12V battery). The digital display will show the current or desired temperature.
  • Use the TEMP buttons - The TEMP - and TEMP + buttons allow you to adjust the temperature in increments of 1°C. The range is from +10°C to -15°C in compressor mode.
  • Check the fuse - If the 230V power is properly connected but nothing works, the fridge's 5A fuse or the vehicle's 15A fuse (if plugged in) may be blown.

Important: The device should never operate simultaneously on both systems. Only one power source at a time (12V OR 230V).

DOMETIC Coolfun CK 40D - CAUTION! Health hazard! - 1

NOTE

  • Before starting your new coolbox for the first time, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (please also refer to the chapter "Cleaning and care" on page 12).
  • A few water drops may form inside the cooler if it has been cooling for a lengthy period. This is normal because the moisture in the air condenses to water when the temperature in the cooler falls. The cooler is not defective. Wipe it out with a dry cloth if necessary.

6.1 Energy saving tips

  • Choose a well ventilated installation location which is protected against direct sunlight.
  • Allow warm food to cool down first before placing it in the cooling device to keep cool.
  • Do not open the cooling device more often than necessary.
  • Do not leave the cooling device open for longer than necessary.

6.2 Using the coolbox

DOMETIC Coolfun CK 40D - Using the coolbox - 1

NOTICE! Risk of damage

  • Do not switch on the device immediately after transporting it. This could damage the cooling system. Leave the device to stand for about 30 minutes after transporting, before you switch it on. This allows the refrigerant to collect again in the compressor, and the compressor does not run dry.
  • Only operate the device from a single energy source. Simultaneous use of the thermoelectric cooling system and the compressor is not permitted.
  • Ensure that the objects or goods placed in the cooling device are suitable for cooling to the selected temperature.
  • Ensure that food or liquids in glass containers are not excessively refrigerated. Liquids expand when they freeze and can therefore destroy glass containers.
  • Ensure that your cooler is well ventilated so that any heat created can dissipate. Otherwise proper functioning cannot be ensured. It is especially important not to cover the air vents.

Place the coolbox on a firm base.
