8.6 Work instructions

Mafell SR 800-18 - Work instructions - 1

Risk of burns

Working with the machine for a prolonged period of time can cause the gearbox housing to get very hot. There is a risk of burns! Allow a hot gearbox housing to cool down

The wrenching process of the impact wrench consists of screwing in a screw / nut by means of the tool's rotary motion and tightening a screw / nut by means of the impact mechanism.

The tightening torque depends on the impact duration. The torque curve depends on the application. Take into consideration the possible applications:

Application "Hard screw application":

When screwing into hard material, such as metal or concrete, the maximum tightening torque is already reached after a short impact duration (approx. 5 s).

Application "Soft screw application":

When screwing into soft material, such as wood, a longer impact duration is required.

Follow the procedure below when working with the machine:

  • Place the machine onto the screw / nut when it is switched off.
  • While working with the machine, keep it directed straight at the screw / nut.
  • Set the tightening torque either by adjusting the setting wheel or by pressing in the switch trigger 2 in such a way that the screw / nut is not damaged or the screw head is not torn off.

Mafell SR 800-18 - Application "Soft screw application": - 1

With small screws / nuts, the maximum tightening torque is already reached after less than 0.5 seconds impact duration.

- Determine the correct impact duration by means of test screwing.
