Thank you for choosing the LANAFORM Stim Mass electro stimulation system. Equipped with two stimulation channels and 4 adhesive electrodes, the Stim Mass offers various massage modes enabling general well-being to be improved, keeping yourself in top-form, relaxing you, energising your muscles and combating tiredness by means of a sensations program and effectiveness very close to that of a real massage.

The operating principle of electro stimulation devices is based on imitating the body impulses sent by the skin to the nerve and muscle fibres by means of electrodes. These are positioned at various places on the body for a total massage. Their electric stimuli are harmless and painless. The effectiveness of electro stimulation can be seen after just a few uses and enables relaxing and massaging the muscles after any physical activity and reducing the effect of muscle fatigue.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE STIM MASS, IN PARTICULAR THESE FEW FUNDAMENTAL SAFETY RULES

Use of the device cannot replace a consultation or medical treatment. Therefore, always consult your doctor beforehand in case of pain or illness!

▲ To avoid harming your health, before using the Stim Mass, it is essential to ask for a medical opinion in the following cases:
- In case of electrical device implants (for example a pacemaker)
- With metal implants
• People who wear an insulin pump
• In case of high fever (for example > 39°C)
- In case of known or acute cardiac arrhythmia and in case of other heart excitation and performance problems
• In case of seizures (for example epilepsy)

• In case of confirmed pregnancy
• In case of cancer
• After surgical operations, where increased muscle contraction could prevent healing
- Use of the device close to the heart is prohibited. The electrodes must not be placed on the chest cavity (delimited by the ribs and sternum), in particular on the two pectoralis major muscles. The risk of ventricular fibrillation is increased and may cause a heart attack
- On the bony part of the skull, in the mouth area, in the pharynx or larynx area
- On the neck / carotid
• In the genital area
- On skin with an acute or chronic condition (injured or irritated) (for example in case of painful or painless irritation, redness, skin rashes (for example allergies), burns, bruising, swelling and open and healing wounds, on scars which are healing)
- In very damp environments, for example in the bathroom, bath or shower
- Do not use after consuming alcohol
- When a high frequency surgical device is plugged in at the same time

▲ Before using the device, consult your general practitioner in the following cases:

- Acute conditions, in particular in case of suspicion or presence of high blood pressure, blood coagulation problems, tendency to thromboses or embolisms and in case of malignant tumours

- All skin diseases

- Chronic unexplained pain, on any part of the body whatever

• Diabetes

- All sensitivity problems with reduced pain sensitivity (for example metabolic disorders)

• During other medical treatments

- Pain associated with stimulation treatment

- Permanent irritation of the skin due to prolonged stimulation using an electrode placed in the same place.

CAUTION!

▲ Only use Stim Mass:

- On humans

- For the purpose for which it has been designed and as indicated in the instructions. Any incorrect use may be dangerous.

- External use.

- With genuine accessories supplied or able to be ordered optionally. (If used with other accessories, the guarantee is void.)

COMMENTS CONCERNING THE BATTERIES

- If battery fluid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, rinse the affected area with water and consult a doctor.

▲ Accidental swallowing: young children could swallow the batteries and choke. Please keep the batteries out of reach of young children!

- Comply with plus (+) and (-) polarity symbols.

- If the battery has leaked, put on protective gloves and clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth.

- Protect the batteries from excessive heat.

▲ Risk of explosion: do not throw the batteries in the fire.

- The batteries must not be recharged or short-circuited,

- If the device is not going to be used for an extended period, remove the batteries from the battery compartment.

- Only use identical or equivalent batteries.

• Always replace all the batteries together.

- Do not use an accumulator!

- Do not dismantle, open or break the batteries.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

- To avoid hurting the most sensitive skin (extremely rare case), always gently pull on the electrodes to remove them.

- Keep the device away from heat sources and do not use it close to (-1m) short wave or micro-wave devices (for example mobile telephones) as this could cause unpleasant current spikes.

• Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or high temperatures.
• Protect the device from dust, dirt and humidity. Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids.

• The device is intended for personal use.

- For hygiene reasons, the electrodes must be used by one person only.

- If the device is not working, in case of discomfort or pain, immediately stop using it.

- To remove or move the electrodes, first of all unplug the device or corresponding channel in order to avoid unintentional stimuli.

- Do not alter the electrodes (for example by cutting them). This would increase the current density, which may be dangerous.

- Do not use the device while sleeping, driving or while using machines at the same time.

- Do not use the device during all operations during which an unforeseen reaction (for example increased muscle contraction in spite of a low intensity) may prove dangerous.

- Ensure that no metal object such belt buckles or necklaces can come into contact with the electrodes during stimulation. If you are wearing jewellery or piercings (for example in the navel) in the application area, remove them before using the device as they could cause localised burns.

- To avoid any possible risk, keep the device out of reach of children.

- Do not mix up the electric cords fitted with plugs with those of your headset or other devices and never plug the electrodes into other devices.

- Do not use this device at the same time as other devices sending electric impulses into your body.

- Do not use the device close to easily inflammable materials, gas or explosives.

- Do not use rechargeable batteries. Only use batteries of the same type.

- During the first few minutes, use the device while sitting or lying down so there is no risk of hurting yourself unnecessarily due to feeling faint (feeling of weakness), which rarely happens. If you feel

weak, stop using the device immediately and raise your legs up (for 5 to 10 minutes).

- It is best not to coat your skin with greasy creams or ointments before a treatment as this significantly increases wear on the electrodes or may cause unpleasant current spikes.

DAMAGE

• If the device is damaged, if in doubt, do not use it and contact your dealer or the address given for after sales service.
• Check the device for signs or wear or damage. If the device shows such signs or if it has been misused, it must be sent to the manufacturer or taken back to the dealer before being used again.
• Switch off the device immediately if it is faulty or not working properly.
• In no event try to open and/or repair the device yourself! Repairs must only be carried out by the after sales service or approved dealers. Failure to comply with this instruction will void the guarantee.
• The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect or improper use.

INFORMATION ON ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGES (ESD)

• Caution, plugs with the danger of electrostatic discharge symbol on them must not be touched.
  • Protection measures against electrostatic discharges:
• Do not touch plugs or sockets with the danger of electrostatic discharge symbol on them with your fingers!

USE

PREPARATION BEFORE USE

• The Stim Mass operates with 2 AAA 1.5V batteries (not supplied). Before using your device, check that these are correctly inserted in the compartment provided. (■1 ■0)
• Before turning on your device, connect the power cord (1 8) to the electrodes (1 7).
• Place the electrodes so that they surround the muscle segments concerned. For optimum effectiveness, the distance between the electrodes must not be more than about 15 cm. The electrodes must not be used on the anterior chest wall. This means that the device should not be used to massage the left/right pectoralis major muscle.
• The Stim Mass is equipped with 2 stimulation channels and four electrodes which enable working on two areas of the body at the same time.

When using the Stim Mass and when you apply the electrodes, the use of two electrodes per muscle group is recommended.

• To obtain the stimulation's desired effect, it is important to place the electrodes carefully. We advise you to decide on the optimum positions for the electrodes in the desired application area with your doctor.
• The positions of the electrodes suggested above are given for reference.
• The following comments are applicable when choosing the electrodes' positions:

DISTANCE BETWEEN ELECTRODES

- The greater the distance chosen between the electrodes, the greater the volume of stimulated

tissue. This applies to the surface and depth of tissue volume. Likewise, the greater the distance between the electrodes, the more the tissue stimulation strength decreases. This means that if you opt for a wide distance between the electrodes, the volume will be greater but the stimulation will be less powerful. To increase stimulation, you will have to increase the intensity of the impulses

• The following guideline applies for choosing the distance between the electrodes:

The most appropriate distance: approx. 5 to 15 cm
Below 5 cm, the primary surface structures are strongly stimulated.
- Above 15 cm, the deep structures and extending onto wider surfaces are very weakly stimulated.

It is not advisable to use two electrodes on opposite sides of the body (example: first cable's electrode on the left arm and second cable's electrode on the right arm). For optimum and safe use, it is advisable to spread out and connect the electrodes as shown in the diagram 2.

▲ Never apply the electrodes on the head Never move the electrodes when the device is operating. Switch off the device then remove the electrodes only to place them somewhere else. If not, you may feel an impact.

OPERATION

- Once the electrodes are positioned on the area you want to massage and relax (see 📄, connect the power supply cable (1 8) to the main unit (1 2) and turn on your device using the ON/OFF switch (1)

- The device is working and programmed by default on the "Suction" massage mode for 15 minutes at intensity 0. (■1 11, 13, 14)

- To change mode, press the mode selection button several times (1 3) until you reach the desired massage mode.

- To increase the intensity, use the +d buttons to adjust it ( 1

- Lastly to set the massage time, press the timer button (①d 1②1) and choose a time between 5 and 15 minutes.

COMMENTS

• You can stop the session at any time by switching the device off. You can also change the massage mode by pressing the massage mode selection button again.
• When you first you use it, we recommend you start with a low intensity and then progressively increase it. Once you are accustomed to stimulation, you can use more powerful stimulation intensities, always at the limit you can tolerate and without harming yourself, so as to stimulate as many fibres as possible.
• The length of use for one position is normally 15 minutes per session, once or twice a day. You can also extend or shorten the operating time depending on your requirements. The device will stop automatically when the time set has run out. If you want to continue the treatment, switch the device off for a few seconds, then switch it on again.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

• So the electrodes keep their adherence for as long as possible, carefully clean them with a lint free damp cloth.
• Re-stick the electrodes onto the plastic holder (6) and wind the cable round the groove on the holder.

CLEANING THE DEVICE

• Before any cleaning, remove the batteries from the device,
• After each use, clean the device with a slightly damp soft cloth. If it is very dirty, you can use a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution.
• Ensure that water does not get into the device. If this should occur, do not re-use the device until it is totally dry.
• For cleaning, do not use chemical or abrasive cleaning products.

STORAGE

- If you do not think you will use it for some time, remove the batteries from the device Leaking batteries can damage the device.

• Do not fold the connection cords or electrodes too much.
• Unplug the electrodes' connection cords.
• After use, stick the electrodes on the holder's film again.
• Store the device in a well ventilated place, away from heat.
• Do not put heavy objects on the device.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

FAULTS - POSSIBLE CAUSES - SOLUTIONS

Faults Verification Solutions
One electrode seems more pow - erful than another	This is completely normal. The body reacts differently depending on the areas treated.	Ensure that the electrodes are correctly placed and that they are not overlapping.
During the massage, you feel a burning feeling or the stimulation becomes too weak.	The Electrodes' gel is not adhering to the skin sufficiently.	Apply a few drops of water on the pad. If the problem persists, you have to replace the electrodes.
The device does not turn on.	The battery is too low.	Recharge your device.
The skin on the part being treated becomes red, causes itching or stinging.	Check that your skin is not allergic to the adhesive patch.	Check and refer to your skin's history of allergies. If the allergy is moderate, you just need to change the position of the adhesive disk or shorten the treatment time. If the allergy is significant, stop any use of the device and consult your doctor,
Even after having increased the intensity, the stimulation is still too weak or the user feels nothing.	Is the skin dirty? Use the device again after cleaning the skin with a damp towel.
	Are the electrodes correctly positioned?	Change the position.

ADVICE REGARDING THE DISPOSAL OF WASTE

All the packaging is composed of materials that pose no hazard for the environment and which can be disposed of at your local sorting centre to be used as secondary raw materials. The cardboard may be disposed of in a paper recycling bin. The packaging film must be taken to your local sorting and recycling centre.

When you have finished using the device, please dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way and in accordance with the law.

LIMITED WARRANTY

LANAFORM guarantees this product against any material or manufacturing defect for a period of two years from the date of purchase, except in the circumstances described below.

The LANAFORM guarantee does not cover damage caused as a result of normal wear to this product. In addition, the guarantee covering this LANAFORM product does not cover damage caused by abusive or inappropriate or incorrect use, accidents, the use of unauthorized accessories, changes made to the product or any other circumstance, of whatever sort, that is outside LANAFORM's control.

LANAFORM may not be held liable for any type of circumstantial, indirect or specific damage.

All implicit guarantees relating to the suitability of the product are limited to a period of two years from the initial date of purchase as long as a copy of the proof of purchase can be supplied.

On receipt, LANAFORM will repair or replace your appliance at its discretion and will return it to you. The guarantee is only valid through LANAFORM's Service Centre. Any attempt to maintain this product by a person other than LANAFORM's Service Centre will render this guarantee void.
