  • The electrical cooling unit is installed in the recess for the spare tire under the vehicle. As a result, it is no longer possible to carry a spare tire. Therefore, make sure your vehicle is equipped with an additionally available breakdown kit.
  • The electrical refrigeration system is not suitable for cooling down loaded goods to their required storage temperature.
  • To prevent temperature changes that are too great, it is recommended to cool down the temperature of the cargo space to the required storage temperature before loading the goods.
  • Do not operate the electrical refrigeration system if the cargo space doors are open.

  • Do not store any potentially explosive materials, such as spray cans with flammable propellants, in the refrigerator compartment.

3 Intended use

The transport refrigeration system is intended for maintaining the storage temperature of chilled goods stored in a transport vehicle. It maintains the cold chain from the place of origin (manufacturer) to the customer. The transport refrigeration system can be used in a temperature range between +20^ and 0^ in the cargo space.

The transport refrigeration system is only suitable for use with the R-134a refrigerant.

Any use other than or beyond that purpose constitutes use other than intended.

The electrical refrigeration system cannot be operated when outside temperatures are below 0^ .

The refrigeration system can only be operated when the vehicle engine is running, to avoid running down the vehicle's battery.

Undervoltage at the power supply causes the refrigeration system to shut down.

When the vehicle engine is switched off, the temperature in the cargo space can only be maintained to a limited extent.

With the supplementary equipment "Stationary Cooling", the transport refrigeration system can be connected to a 230 V power supply network with integrated safety switch (FI 30 mA tripping current) and can thereby be used when parked.

The food to be transported may only be transported in its original packaging or in suitable containers.

4 Function description

The transport refrigeration system discharges the heat in the cargo space to the exterior, as the refrigerant circulating in a closed system undergoes thermodynamic changes.

The evaporator is equipped with an automatic defrosting function.

The refrigeration system is powered by the vehicle's on-board power supply.

DOMETIC Frigo DC 3500 - Function description - 1

NOTE

The electrical refrigeration system works independently and has no influence on the vehicle's air conditioning system.

5.6 Defrosting the refrigeration system

DOMETIC Frigo DC 3500 - Defrosting the refrigeration system - 1

NOTICE!

The defrosting process should be manually performed regularly:

  • When the refrigeration system switches off frequently before reaching the scheduled automatic defrosting interval (e.g. by frequent loading and unloading).
  • When transporting moist chilled goods.

Otherwise, the evaporator surface may freeze and the cooling capacity of the refrigeration system will be severely limited.

  • Never switch off the refrigeration system when defrosting is being performed, either automatically or manually.

DOMETIC Frigo DC 3500 - NOTICE! - 1

NOTE

Possible water losses under the vehicle can be traced back to normal condensation discharge; this condensation particularly occurs at high outside temperatures and high humidity through the dehumidification effect of the refrigeration system.

When the temperature in the cargo space drops, condensation forms. This condensation freezes on the surface of the evaporator. To obtain full cooling capacity, this ice needs to be defrosted. If the cooling capacity drops, this is a certain sign that defrosting is necessary. A possible sign of this is the rise of the cargo space temperature on the display, for example.

The electrical refrigeration system is equipped with a hot-gas defrosting function. The evaporator is defrosted with the assistance of the heated refrigerant and ensures that the evaporator is quickly and efficiently freed of ice.

Automatic defrosting

An electronic controller starts this defrosting process automatically after two complete operating hours.
