- Always operate with the filter system installed.
WARNING! When extracting dust that exceeds the limit value or large volumes of oak or beechwood dust, only extract from one dust source (power or compressed-air tool).
- Risk of explosion and fire: Also observe any other restrictions relating to dust with an ignition energy of less than 1 mJ specified by the labour authorities. Do not vacuum any of the following: Sparks or hot dust; flammable and explosive liquids (e.g. petrol, thinner); corrosive liquids/solids (e.g. acids, alkaline solutions, solvents). This mobile dust extractor is suitable for dust extraction of paint dust.



- Do not damage the mains power cable (e.g. by running over it, tugging on it, etc.). Protect it against heat, oil and sharp edges. Do not pull the plug from the socket by using the cable.
- Check the plug and cable on a regular basis and, if they are damaged, have them replaced by an authorised customer service workshop. Only replace the mains power connection with the type specified in the spare parts list.
- Do not expose the machine to rain.
- For safety reasons, only operate the machine from an earthed socket.
- Only use the electrical outlet module on the machine for its purpose as stated in the instructions.
- Always use original Festool accessories.
- Pull the plug from the socket when not in use and before performing any cleaning and maintenance work.
- Caution! To avoid electrostatic charging do not clean the machine with a dry cloth. Use an antistatic cloth or damp cloth.
- Dust collectors of design 22 are suitable for connection to dust-generating machines in Zone 22. It is imperative to ensure that no ignition sources are vacuumed. Conductive machine parts, including suction covers, and conductive parts of machines in safety class II must be electrostatically earthed. Electrostatic earthing can be achieved by the dust collector or with special means for electrostatic discharge.
- Danger of explosion: Keep the electrical outlet module on the machine closed in Zone 22 at all times and do not use it there.
- Include the machine in your explosion prevention or fire prevention documentation.
- In the event of a fire, disconnect the machine from the power supply immediately and take measures according to fire regulations.
- Do not lift or transport the machine using a crane hook or lifting gear.
- The machine may only be operated if all filters are present and undamaged, including the filter for motor cooling.
- Do not put strain on the cable and pull it out.
- In an emergency (e.g. short circuit or other electrical faults), switch off the device and disconnect the mains plug.
- This machine must not be used by people who might have a particularly adverse reaction to an electric shock (e.g. people with cardiac pacemakers), because the possibility of the machine building up a static charge cannot be excluded.

- Pay attention to the work environment and watch out for your own safety and the safety of others when transporting or working with the machine.
In this way, you can for example prevent tripping hazards caused by the suction hose or mains cable.
- Use only the original Festool suction hose.
- Keep packaging film away from children.

5 Intended use
The mobile dust extractor is designed for extracting dry, flammable dust from machines and equipment in zone 22.
CTM 48 E LE EC/B22 R1 the mobile dust extractor is designed for extracting hazardous dusts with limit values up to 0.1 mg/m ^3 and wood dust from dust class 'M' in accordance with IEC 60335-2-69.
The tool is designed to be used by professional, commercial users.
CTL 48 E LE EC/B22 R1: the mobile dust extractor is designed for extracting hazardous dust with limit values up to 1 mg/m ^3 from dust class 'L' in accordance with IEC 60335-2-69.
The mobile dust extractor is designed to extract water
as well as for heavy-duty applications and industrial use in accordance with IEC 60335-1 and IEC 60335-2-69.
The tool is designed to be used by professional, commercial users.
The mobile dust extractor is not suitable for extracting dust that poses a high risk of explosion (e.g. explosives), flammable dust with an ignition energy of less than 1 mJ (labour au-
thorities), flammable liquids and mixtures of combustible dust and flammable liquids.
The mobile dust extractor is not suitable for equipment that generates sources of ignition.

The user is liable for improper or non-in-tended use.
6 Commissioning

WARNING
Unauthorised voltage or frequency.
Risk of accidents
▶ The mains voltage and the frequency of the power source must correspond to the specifications on the name plate.
▶ Before commissioning the machine, connection approval must be obtained from the responsible energy supply company in each case.
6.1 Initial operation
▶ Open the locking clips [2-2] and remove the top section of the machine [2-1].
- Remove the accessories from the dust container [2-3] and the packaging!
- Insert a filter bag in the dust container that fulfils statutory requirements (see chapter 7.9).

- Replace the top section [2-1] and close the locking clips [2-2].
- Attach the cable holder to the rear of the mobile dust extractor (see Fig. [3]).
▶ Insert the sealing plug [1-1] on the panel (see Fig. [1]). - Connect suction hose at the extractor opening [1-2].
6.2 Switch on/off
▶ Insert the plug into an earthed socket.

The use of extension cables in Zone 22 is not permitted.

CAUTION
Risk of injury from tools starting up unexpectedly
Before setting the switch to the "AUTO" or "MAN" position, make sure that the connected tool is switched off.
The switch [1-9] serves as an on/off switch.

"MAN" switch position
Appliance socket [1-11] is connected to the power, the mobile dust extractor starts.
"Auto" switch position
Appliance socket [1-11] is connected to the power, the mobile dust extractor starts when the connected tool is switched on.
7 Settings
7.1 Adjusting the hose diameter
- Adjust the hose diameter adjuster [1-8] to match the diameter of the connected hose.
This ensures that the air speed in the extractor hose is measured correctly (see section "Volumetric flow monitoring").
7.2 Connecting electric power tools

WARNING

- Do not use the appliance's socket in zone 22.
▶ Observe the maximum appliance socket connected load (see chapter "Technical data")
▶ Switch off the electric power tool.
- Connect the electric power tool to the appliance socket [1-11].
7.3 Connecting pneumatic tools

WARNING

▶ Switch off the air tool.
With the compressed air module [1-3] , the automatic switch-on function for the mobile dust extractor also works in conjunction with air tools.
We also recommend installing the VE service unit (495886). The service unit filters and lubricates the compressed air and enables an adjustment of the air pressure. An IAS adapter (454757) is available to connect Festool air tools to the IAS system.
The operating pressure of the tool must be 6 bar for the automatic switch-on unit to function correctly.
7.4 Connecting the energy box
The connection for the energy box (EAA) [1-4] allows you to connect the mobile dust extractor with the EAA in order to couple the automatic switch-on unit on the mobile dust extractor with the equivalent unit on the EAA.
7.5 Adjusting the suction power
▶ at the rotary knob [1-10].
7.6 Connecting sleeve
The bypass function of the connecting sleeve prevents strong suction from sanding machines and floor nozzles on smooth surfaces.
Open
▶ Turn the adjusting ring to the "OPEN" position.
Close
▶ Turn the adjusting ring to the "CLOSE" position.
7.7 Applying the brake
Folding out the black brake lever [1-15] prevents the mobile dust extractor from rolling. To achieve this, lift the front end of the mobile dust extractor slightly and push the black brake lever downwards until it latches into place. Push the green lever [1-14] to release.
7.8 Temperature cut-out
A temperature cut-out switches the mobile dust extractor off when it reaches a critical temperature to prevent overheating.

▶ Switch off the mobile dust extractor and allow to cool for approx. 5 minutes.
▶ Change the cooling air filter if necessary (see chapter 9.2).
If the mobile dust extractor will not switch on again, please contact a Festool service workshop.
7.9 Changing the filter bag (SC-FIS-CT 48)

▶ Open the locking clips [2-2] and remove the top section of the machine [2-1].

8 Working
8.1 Handling
SysDoc SYSTAINER attachment system: A SYSTAINER can be attached to the storage area using the four locking latches [6-1].
8.2 Extracting dry materials


CAUTION
Hazardous dust

▶ Always use a filter bag when extracting hazardous materials!
▶ Do not use the machine if the volumetric flow monitoring function is inactive.
Observe the following when extracting dust generated by operating electric power tools: If the exhaust air is discharged back into the room, the air renewal rate L within the room must be sufficient. The volume of air discharged back into the room must not exceed
▶ Dispose of the used filter bag in accordance with statutory regulations.
Inserting the filter bag [5]
- Insert a new filter bag (SC-FIS-CT 48) in the inlet port of the dust container and interlock it. Important: be aware that the locking engages.
i Make sure that the filter bag is not pinched between the top and bottom sections.
▶ Replace the top section [2-1] and close the locking clips [2-2].
7.10 Volumetric flow monitoring
An acoustic warning signal sounds if the air speed in the suction hose falls below 20 m/s.
50% of the fresh air volume flow (room volume V_R x air renewal rate L_W ). Observe all the relevant regional regulations.
Remember: A moist main filter clogs more quickly when extracting dry materials. Therefore, dry the main filter before extracting dust or replace the damp filter with a dry one.
8.3 Extracting fluids
Remove the filter bag before absorbing fluids (see section 7.9). The use of a special wet filter is recommended.
The dust extraction stops automatically when the maximum fill level is reached.

▶ Switch off the machine immediately and empty the dirt trap.
8.4 After finishing work

Empty the mobile dust extractor after every use and clean if necessary.
▶ Switch off the mobile dust extractor and pull out the mains plug.
▶ Wind up the mains power cable.
▶ Empty the dirt trap.
- Close off the extractor opening [1-2] using the sealing plug [1-1].

Damage to the respiratory passage
- Wipe down the mobile dust extractor and clean all accessories thoroughly using the extractor (inside and out) before removing from the working area.
▶ Parts that you were not able to clean thoroughly must be sealed in an airtight plastic bag prior to transportation.
▶ Wear a dust mask!

The machine shall be stored indoors only.
▶ Place the mobile dust extractor in a dry room inaccessible to unauthorised users.
9 Maintenance and care


WARNING

▶ Always pull the mains plug from the socket before performing any servicing and maintenance work.
▶ All maintenance and repair work which requires the motor housing to be opened must always be carried out by an authorised service workshop.

- Cleaning, maintenance and servicing work may only be realised outside Zone 22.
Damaged safety devices and components must be properly repaired or replaced in a recognised specialist workshop, unless otherwise indicated in the operating manual.

Observe the following information:
- Dust-related inspection (e.g. for filter damage, tightness of the machine and function of the control devices) by the manufacturer or an instructed person at least once a year.
- During maintenance and repair work, all components that cannot be cleaned satisfactorily must be replaced. The old components must be sealed in impermeable plastic bags prior to disposal in compliance with applicable regulations for this type of waste.
- Provided maintenance personnel or other persons in the vicinity are not endangered, the user must dismantle and clean the machine prior to performing maintenance work. Appropriate precautionary measures include decontaminating the machine prior to disassembly, making provisions for locally filtered forced ventilation at the location of machine disassembly, cleaning the maintenance area and appropriate personal protective equipment.
9.1 Changing the filter element
NOTICE

▶ Never operate the extractor without a filter element fitted as the motor may become damaged.
▶ Open the locking clips [2-2] and remove the top section of the machine [2-1].
▶ Turn the top section of the machine so that the main filter is facing upwards (Fig.[7]).
▶ Fold over the lever [7-3] and remove the retainer. [7-2]
▶ Remove the used main filter and replace [7-1] with a new one.
▶ Dispose of the used filter in accordance with statutory regulations.
- Insert the retainer [7-2] and fold over the lever [7-3] until it engages.
▶ Replace the top section [2-1] and close the locking clips [2-2].
9.2 Changing the cooling air filter [8]
Replace the cooling air filter if the mobile dust extractor switches off due to excess temperature and replace at least once a year.
① We recommend that you always replace the cooling air filter together with the main filter.
▶ Unscrew the cooling air cover [8-1].
- Remove the cooling air filter and replace with a new one!
▶ Close the cooling air cover.
9.3 Emptying the dust container
The dust container [2-3] can be emptied once the top section has been removed.
▶ After extracting fluids, clean the fill level sensors [9-1] regularly with a soft cloth and inspect for damage.

- For mobile dust extractors of design type 22 only accessories and spare parts approved by Festool especially for this purpose can be used - see listed consumables, accessories list and spare parts catalogue.
Use only original Festool accessories and Festool consumable material intended for this machine. These components are designed specifically for this machine. Using accessories and consumable material from other suppliers will most likely affect the quality of your results and limit warranty claims. Machine wear or your own personal workload may increase depending on the application. Protect yourself and your machine, and preserve your warranty claims by always using original Festool accessories and Festool consumable material!

11 Environment

Do not dispose of the device in the household waste! Recycle devices, accessories and packaging. Observe applicable national regulations.
In accordance with the European Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment and implementation in national law, used power tools must be collected separately and handed in for environmentally friendly recycling.
