Danger or hazard levels
DANGER
Pointer to immediate danger, which leads to severe injuries or death.
WARNING
Pointer to a possibly dangerous situation, which can lead to severe injuries or death.
CAUTION
Pointer to a possibly dangerous situation, which can lead to minor injuries.
ATTENTION
Pointer to a possibly dangerous situation, which can lead to property damage.
Proper use
- Only use appliance to generate hot water in connection with a high-pressure cleaner to clean machines, vehicles, buildings, tools, etc.
- If using cleaning agents other than water, check with dealer or customer service.
- When adjusting the temperature observe suitability for the pump and objects to be cleaned.
DANGER
Risk of injury! Follow the respective safety regulations upon employment at gas stations or other dangerous areas.
Please do not let mineral oil contaminated waste water reach soil, water or the sewage system. Perform engine cleaning and bottom cleaning therefore only on specified places with an oil trap.
Function
- With the HWE 860 you can heat water using electric energy. Its use is sensible everywhere, where the exhaust air of a burner poses a problem.
- The temperature that can be reached depends on the water volume that was put through, so the feed capacity of the used pump (median value see Specifications).
- The set temperature is controlled by a thermostat. If the switch unit is in the position "manual operation", the heater is always on via the thermostat. By switching to the position "automatic operation", the operation readiness also depends on a switch clock or an external remote control.
- The appliance also serves as a provision container for the high-pressure pump.
- The liquid softener prevents the calcification of the heating spiral while operating with calciferous tap water. It is dosed into the boiler drop by drop. The metering is set to a medium value by the manufacturer. This setting can be adjusted to local conditions by customer service.
Safety Devices
Temperature controller
The temperature limiter switches off the machine if the temperature regulator is defective.
Start up
Fill in liquid softener
- The white container for the liquid softener is located on the boiler.
- If the white container is empty, the red indicator lamp on the switch cabinet will blink. → Fill container with liquid softener (RM 110).
Operation
Operating elements

1 Indicator lamp (green) - heater on 2 Switch for manual/automatic operation 3 Indicator lamp (red) - fill level of liquid softener 4 Main switch 5 Control board
Turning on the Appliance

1 Temperature limiter 2 Temperature controller
→ Open the water supply. → Set temperature regulator to desired temperature. → Turn the main switch to position "1". → Set switch to manual or automatic operation.
We recommend the following cleaning temperatures:
– Light contaminations 30-50 °C - Contaminations containing protein, i.e. in the food processing industry max. 60 °C – Vehicle cleaning, machine cleaning 60 -85 °C
Note: If the working pressure and the flow rate are changed, the water temperature will change as well.
Turn off the appliance
Turn the switch for manual/automatic operation to position "0".
Shutting down
Turn the main switch to position "0".
Emptying the appliance
Shut off water supply. Unscrew the water inlet hose and high pressure hose from the appliance. Unscrew closing stopper on the bottom of the boiler and empty the boiler. Let the high-pressure pump run for max. of 1 minute, until the pump and pipes are empty.
Frost protection
The machine should be stored in frost-free rooms. In case there is frosting risk, for e.g. if the machine is installed in open areas, then the machine must first be emptied and flushed using an anti-freezing agent.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage! Frost will destroy the not completely water drained device.
Drain water. Flush device with anti-freeze agent. A certain corrosion protection is achieved with this as well.
Transport
CAUTION
Risk of injury and damage! Observe the weight of the appliance when you transport it.
When transporting in vehicles, secure the appliance according to the guidelines from slipping and tipping over.
Storage
CAUTION
Risk of injury and damage! Note the weight of the appliance in case of storage.
This appliance must only be stored in interior rooms.
Care and maintenance
DANGER
Risk of injury! The main switch is to be switched off while carrying out any repairs or maintenance jobs.
Visual check
Check the connection cables. The connection cable must not be damaged (risk of electrical shock). A damaged connection cable must be replaced immediately by an authorised Customer Service Engineer or an electrician. Check hot water hose. The hot water hose must not be damaged. A damaged hose must be replaced immediately (danger of burns).
Decalcify boiler.
Calcified appliances worsen the heat transfer and the efficiency is reduced.
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to combustible gases! Smoking strictly prohibited during decalcification. Ensure proper ventilation.
DANGER
Risk of burns injury on account of acid! Wear protective glasses and protective gloves.
According to statutory requirements, only tested and approved boiler decrusting agents may be used.
- RM 100 (Order No. 6.287-008) dissolves chalk and simple compounds of chalk and detergent residues.
→ Fill the boiler with 30 liters of water. → Connect the water hose directly to the water input and hang the other free end into the container. → Unscrew the nozzle of the steel pipe. Also insert the connected spray pipe of the high-pressure cleaner into the container. This is how a cycle is created: Container - pump - boiler. → Pour 2 l of decalcifying solution into the container. → Let the high-pressure pump run. → The solution must not become hotter than 60 °C. Ensure that there are no steam bubbles (do not mistake them for foam). → If there is no visible gas generation after 15 minutes, pour another 0.5 l of decalcifying solution into the container (max. concentration 7%). With regular decalcifying, this will only take approx. 3 minutes.
Troubleshooting
△DANGER
Risk of injury! The main switch is to be switched off while carrying out any repairs or maintenance jobs.
