OPERATION OF THE THERMOMETER

The LANAFORM ear and forehead thermometer is a delicate, high-technology electronic instrument designed for taking the temperature of the body. By way of an indication, here are two tables giving the average temperature of a human being according to the place where the measurement is taken and according to age. Normal temperatures according to the method of measurement Method of measurement Temperature °C Rectum 36,6 to 38 Mouth 35,5 to 37,5 Armpit 34,7 to 37,3 Ear 35,8 to 38 Normal temperatures according to age Age Temp. °C 0 to 2 years36.4 to 38.0 3 to 10 years36.1 to 37.8 11 to 65 years35.9 to 37.6 >65 years.35.8 to 37.5 Comment:

1. The temperature of a body in good health varies according to a number of factors: age, time

of the day, physical activity, outdoor temperature,… and more particularly in the case of a forehead reading (influence of the type of skin (greasy or dry, creased or not), ambient temperature (air conditioning)…). It is therefore important to determine the normal temperature range for each member of your family, to use it as a guide to help you detect any subsequent fever.

2. In the case of children, ear temperature is close to the temperature in the rectum.

3. When you visit your doctor you need to tell him/her whether the temperature has been taken via

the ear or the forehead.

4. Also note, in comparison with a forehead reading, there is a margin of difference of

approximately 0.5°C when the temperature is taken via the ear. Important: Taking the temperature via the ear is not recommended for infants under 3 months, the shape of the ear canal not permitting a reliable reading.
