  2. Installing the LIFT EVO child car seat page 12
  3. Securing the child page 13

1. Use of the LIFT EVO child car seat

You have chosen our CONCORD LIFT EVO seat for the safety of your child.

Like all the products we manufacture, it has had to pass a thorough quality control check.

The full extent of its safety features come into effect when the seat is used in accordance with our recommendations.

So please make sure you adhere closely to the instructions for installation and use.

The LIFT EVO model is suitable for children weighing between approx. 15kg and 36kg and aged about 3 to 12 years.

The seat can be used on all cars which are fitted with a three-point safety belt.

Based on accident statistics, we recommend the seat behind the front passenger.

The seat comprises three basic parts: the backrest, the head-rest with 7-point height adjustment and the booster cushion.

In addition, the back rest can be reclined.

2. Installing the LIFT EVO child car seat (Figures 1 and 2)

Place the LIFT EVO seat on the car seat or bench seat, facing forwards (direction of travel).

Due to its angle of inclination, the LIFT EVO seat rests against the back of the car seat.

To increase the angle of inclination, the support wedge (H) may also be folded out so that it touches the lower part of the back of the car seat.

If a car is fitted with standard head-rests, these may be adjusted or removed to make it easier to install the child car seat.

Please ensure that the car head-rests are replaced and re-positioned correctly when an adult is travelling in the car.

The seat may not be transported unsecured in the vehicle, even without a child passenger.

Otherwise there is a risk of passengers being injured on the journey or in the event of an accident. For this reason, the belt must always be fastened when travelling.

3. Securing the child when using the three-point safety belt (Figures 1 to 5)

Seat your child right back in the sitting area. Pull the three-point belt across the front of the child and lock it into position in the same way as a car seat belt for grown-ups. (There must be an audible click).

Now position the two straps of the seat belt. Insert the lap belt (G) into the belt openings (J) of the seat shell (I) on both sides, and the diagonal belt (E) into the belt opening on the side with the lock. Insert the diagonal belt (E) in the appropriate shoulder belt guide (C). Make sure that the belt passes through the safety clip (C1).

Adjust the head-rest to the appropriate height by pressing the blue adjustment button (B) and pushing the head-rest. There are 7 different levels for the height of the head-rest and it clicks into place when the adjustment button is depressed.

The shoulder belt guide (C) should be slightly above the top of the child's shoulder. At the same time the shoulder belt should pass between the child's neck and the outer edge of the shoulder.

Pull the belt taut, so that the lap belt and the diagonal belt fit well, and ensure that the belts are not twisted. The lap belt should be in the lowest possible position.

If your vehicle is fitted with a seat belt belt height regulator, adjust its height accordingly.

When disembarking, all you need to do is open the lock and pass the belt back across the child. To remove the shoulder belt from the guide, press down the safety clip (C1) and pull the belt forward.

It is nevertheless important to ensure that the belts are always correctly positioned every time they are used.

Figure 2 illustrates the correct method of installation. Incorrect variations are depicted in Figures 6 and 7. If you have any doubts about installation, please contact us to check.

4. Special accessories: fastening belts (Figures 8 to 10)

We have devised fastening belts by way of special accessories for the CONCORD LIFT EVO backrest. These belts provide assistance in positioning the child car seat. Any drawbacks that may present themselves as a result of different designs of car seats can be compensated for with the help of the fastening belts.

Important: These fastening belts are not an integral part of the safety system.

Begin by selecting the most appropriate car seat fitted with a three-point (seat) belt. Make sure that you can pass the fastening belts round the backrest of the chosen car seat.

The front passenger seat or a folding back bench is ideal.

Our diagrams demonstrate several possible ways of fastening the belts.

For your attention:

  • Position the belt locks on a flat surface where they are easily accessible.
  • The belts should not be twisted, damaged or trapped.
  • The loose ends of the belt must always be secured.
  • To avoid any friction on the car seat, we recommend protecting critical areas by inserting a layer of soft fabric.

5. Hints on care

Removing the covers for washing:

The cover consists of three parts which are connected to the seat by means of Velcro strips, buttonholes and straps. Once these fastenings have been undone, it is easy to remove the three-part cover. The covers are replaced in the reverse order (sitting area, backrest, head-rest).

  • When washed or in contact with any moisture, the cover fabric may fade slightly.

Avoid using solvents!

6. Important points

Please pay special attention to the notes on transporting children in the car, as set out in the instruction manual of the respective vehicle.

  • Children sometimes carry objects (toys, for example) in their jacket and trouser pockets or their clothing may be fitted with hard accessories (such as belt buckles). Make sure that these items are not trapped in between the child and the safety belt, otherwise they may cause unnecessary injury in the event of an accident. Incidentally, these risks apply to adults, as well!
  • It is only natural that youngsters are often very lively. So explain to the children why it is important for them to be securely strapped in at all times. That will ensure that they understand why the position of the belts must not be changed and the lock must not be opened.
  • Your child's safety is optimally assured when the safety seat is installed and operated in accordance with the instructions.
  • The belts belonging to the system have to be kept taut, should not be twisted and must be protected against damage.
  • Protect the uncovered areas of the safety seat from direct sunlight, to prevent your child from burns.
  • The child restraint straps must not be damaged or trapped by movable parts inside the car or in the doors.
  • No modifications should be made to the safety seat; they jeopardise your child's safety.
  • Following an accident, the entire safety seat system has to be replaced or sent back to the manufacturers for testing, accompanied by an accident report.
  • Inform your passenger on how to take the child out of the restraint in the event of an accident or danger.

  • Never leave your child unattended in the child car seat, whether he/she is strapped in or not.

  • To avoid the risk of injury in the event of an accident, secure luggage and/or other objects.
  • The instructions for use must always accompany the child car seat.
  • The use of auxiliary and replacement parts is not permitted and non-compliance extinguishes all guarantee and liability claims. Only original CONCORD special accessories are excepted from this clause.
  • The child car seat must always be used with the original covers.
  • Suitable for vehicles fitted with a three-point seat belt, tested according to ECE R16 or a comparable standard.

In view of the very long service life of the safety seat (LIFT EVO) it is only natural that the seat covers and other components show signs of uneven wear and tear, depending on the length and extent of usage, and have to be replaced. It is therefore not possible to give durability guarantees extending beyond a 6-month period. For replacements, please enquire at your children's and baby specialist store, the respective sections of department stores, automobile accessory markets or mail order companies. You will also find the complete range of accessories for CONCORD child car seats there.

The LIFT EVO child car seat has been tested in simulated head-on collisions against a solid obstacle at a crash speed of 50km / h . This complies with the international ECE R 44/03 test standard to which all safety seats are subjected. Provided the devices are used in accordance with the recommendations and following the instructions for installation and use, in the event of an accident

the child restraints should prevent or minimise injuries to children aged about 3 to 12 years or weighing between 15kg and 36kg , depending on the nature of the accident and how serious it was. In the same way as the safety belts used for adults, a child safety harness cannot be regarded as a substitute for responsible, vigilant behaviour on the roads.

7. Guarantee

The warranty period shall commence at the time of purchase. The warranty period shall correspond to the duration of the applicable statutory warranty period for the sale of child seats in the respective end user country. Depending on the wishes of the manufacturer, the warranty shall cover rectification, replacement or a price reduction.

The warranty is only valid for the initial purchaser.

Should a defect occur, warranty rights shall only apply if the specialist retailer is notified of the defect immediately after its initial occurrence. If the specialist retailer cannot solve the problem, then it must return the product with an exact description of the problem and official proof of purchase.

The manufacturer shall assume no liability for damage to products which it did not supply.

The warranty shall lapse if:

  • the product was altered.
  • the product is not returned complete with proof of purchase to the retailer within 14 days of the defect occurring.

  • the defect occurred due to incorrect operation or maintenance or anything else deemed to be the fault of the user, or when the user instructions have not been adhered to.

  • repairs to the product have been carried out by third parties.
  • the defect has occurred as the result of an accident.
  • the serial number has been damaged or removed.

Alteration to or deterioration of the product which occurs due to normal wear and tear is not covered by the warranty.

Any corrective action taken by the manufacturer in response to a warranty claim does not extend the duration of warranty.

  1. Only suitable for vehicles with three-point seat belts or static lap belts which are approved under ECE Regulation No. 16 or a comparable standard. Lap belts must not be used for the Image booster cushion.
  2. This is a "Universal" child restraint. It's approved to Regulation No.44,03 series of amendments, for general use vehicles and it will fit most, but not all, car seats.
  3. A correct fit is likely if the vehicle manufacturer has declared in the vehicle handbook that the vehicle is capable of accepting a „Universal" child restraint for this age group.

This child restraint has been classified as „Universal" under more stringent conditions than those which applied to earlier designs which do not carry this notice.

  1. If in doubt, consult either the child restraint manufacturer or the retailer.
  2. Only suitable for vehicles with a three-point safety belt which has been tested and approved according to ECE regulation no. 16 or a comparable standard.
