Use

The hood is designed to be used either for exhausting or filter version.

BEKO HCF91620X - Use - 1

Ducting version

In this case the fumes are conveyed outside of the building by means of a special pipe connected with the connection ring located on top of the hood.

Attention! The exhausting pipe is not supplied and must be purchased apart.

Diameter of the exhausting pipe must be equal to that of the connection ring.

In the horizontal runs the exhausting pipe must be slightly slanted (about 10 degrees) and directed upwards to vent the air easily from the room to the outside.

Attention! If the hood is supplied with active charcoal filter, then it must be removed.

Connect the hood and discharge holes on the walls with a diameter equivalent to the air outlet (connection flange).

Using the tubes and discharge holes on walls with smaller dimensions will cause a diminution of the suction performance and a drastic increase in noise.

Any responsibility in the matter is therefore declined.

Use a duct of the minimum indispensable length. Use a duct with as few elbows as possible (maximum elbow angle: 90°). Avoid drastic changes in the duct cross-section. Use a duct as smooth as possible inside. The duct must be made of certified material.

BEKO HCF91620X - Ducting version - 1

Filter version

One active charcoal filter is needed for this and can be obtained from your usual retailer.

The filter removes the grease and smells from the extracted air before sending it back into the room through the upper outlet grid.

The models with no suction motor only operate in ducting mode, and must be connected to an external suction device (not supplied).

The connecting instructions are supplied with the peripheral suction unit.

Installation

The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking equipment on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be not less than 50 cm from electric cookers and 65 cm from gas or mixed cookers.

If the instructions for installation for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this must be adhered to.

BEKO HCF91620X - Installation - 1

Electrical connection

The mains power supply must correspond to the rating indicated on the plate situated inside the hood. If provided with a plug, connect the hood to a socket in compliance with current regulations and positioned in an accessible area, after installation. If it is not fitted with a plug (direct mains connection) or if the plug is not located in an accessible area, after installation, apply a double pole switch in accordance with standards which assures the complete disconnection of the mains under conditions relating to over-current category III, in accordance with installation instructions.

Warning! Before re-connecting the hood circuit to the mains supply and checking the efficient function, always check that the mains cable is correctly assembled.

The hood is provided with a special power cable; if the cable is damaged, request a new one from Technical Service.

Mounting

Before beginning installation:

  • Check that the product purchased is of a suitable size for the chosen installation area.
  • Remove the charcoal (*) filter(s) if supplied (see also relative paragraph). This/these is/are to be mounted only if you want to use the hood in the filtering version.
  • Check (for transport reasons) that there is no other supplied material inside the hood (e.g. packets with screws ( ), guarantees ( ), etc.), eventually removing them and keeping them.
  • If possible, disconnect and move freestanding or slide-in range from cabinet opening to provide easier access to rear wall/ceiling. Otherwise put a thick, protective covering over countertop, cooktop or range to protect from damage and debris. Select a flat surface for assembling the unit. Cover that surface with a protective covering and place all canopy hood parts and hardware in it.
  • In addition check whether near the installation area of the hood (in the area accessible also with the hood mounted) an electric socket is available and it is possible to connect a fumes discharge device to the outside (only suction version).
  • Carry out all the masonry work necessary (e.g. installation of an electric socket and/or a hole for the passage of the discharge tube).

Expansion wall plugs are provided to secure the hood to most types of walls/ceilings. However, a qualified technician must verify suitability of the materials in accordance with the type of wall/ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to take the weight of the hood. Do not tile, grout or silicone this appliance to the wall. Surface mounting only.

Operation

Use the high suction speed in cases of concentrated kitchen vapours. It is recommended that the cooker hood suction is switched on for 5 minutes prior to cooking and to leave in operation during cooking and for another 15 minutes approximately after terminating cooking.

Use

The extractor has a dual function: it extracts and filters the air through the charcoal filter, while simultaneously recirculating it.

BEKO HCF91620X - Use - 1

Extractor version

The air is discharged outside through an exhaust pipe connected to the connecting flange.

The diameter of the exhaust pipe must match the diameter of the connecting flange.

Warning! The exhaust pipe is not supplied with the appliance and must be purchased separately.

The horizontal part of the pipe must have a slight upward slope (about 10°) to facilitate the discharge of air outside.

If the appliance is equipped with active filters, the pipes must be kept unobstructed.

Connect the extractor to the exhaust pipe through the outlet opening. The diameter of the pipes must match the diameter of the connecting flange for air exhaust.

Connecting to the exhaust pipe and opening with the appropriate diameter reduces the capacity of the extractor without significantly increasing noise and operating time.

The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage.

Use the pipe with the required length. Use the pipe with the shortest possible pipe bend (maximum bend: 90°). Do not sharply bend the pipe! Use the pipe with the shortest possible outer coating. The materials from which the pipes are made must comply with the standards in force.

BEKO HCF91620X - Extractor version - 1

Filter version

The aspirated air is extracted and discharged outside or into the room. To use the aspirator in this mode of operation, a filter system must be installed at the base of the active carbon filter.

The model without aspiration motor is intended for operation only in the aspiration version and must be connected to a peripheral aspiration unit, which is purchased separately.

The connection instructions are supplied together with the peripheral aspiration unit.

MOUNTING

The minimum distance between the surface on which the cooking vessels are placed and the lowest part of the kitchen aspirator must be not less than 50 cm in the case of electric cookers and not less than 65 cm in the case of gas or combination cookers.

If the instructions for the gas cooker specify a greater distance, this must be taken into account.

BEKO HCF91620X - MOUNTING - 1

Electrical connection

The voltage in the electrical network must correspond to the voltage indicated on the rating plate of the aspirator, located on its inner side. If it is equipped with a plug, connect the aspirator to a socket that complies with the standards in force, and place it in an easily accessible place after installation. If it is not equipped with a plug (direct connection to the network), or if the plug is not in an easily accessible place after installation, use a bipolar switch according to the standards, so as to ensure disconnection from the network under overvoltage category III, in accordance with the installation rules.

Attention! Before connecting the aspirator to the network and checking that it functions correctly, check that the filter is mounted as required.

The aspirators are equipped with a special safety cable; in case the cable is damaged, contact the after-sales service to obtain a new one.

Use

The hood has been designed to operate in extraction mode (air exhausted to the outside) or recirculation mode.

BEKO HCF91620X - Use - 1

Extraction mode

In this mode, fumes are extracted to the outside through a duct connected to the connecting ring.

The diameter of the exhaust duct must match the diameter of the connecting ring.

Warning! The exhaust duct is not supplied and must be purchased separately.

The duct must be slightly inclined upwards (approximately 10°) to allow air to exit more easily. If the hood is equipped with a charcoal filter, make sure

Connect the exhaust pipe to the flue pipe with a diameter corresponding to the outlet opening (connecting flange).

Installing pipes with a smaller diameter will reduce the suction power and sharply increase the noise level.

The manufacturer declines all responsibility for the above.

Use a pipe with the minimum required length. Use pipes with the minimum number of bends (maximum bend angle: 90°).

Avoid sharp changes in the pipe diameter. The inner surface of the pipe used should be as smooth as possible. The pipe material must comply with standards.

To maintain high efficiency of the grease filter, clean the grease filter(s) when necessary, and use the maximum diameter of the exhaust system as indicated in the instructions for optimal efficiency and performance.

WARNING! Failure to install the screws or fixing devices in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.

Use

The hood is designed for use in exhaust mode (air exhausted outside) or in filter mode (air recirculated internally).

BEKO HCF91620X - Use - 1

Exhaust mode

The air is exhausted outside through an exhaust pipe connected to the flange.

The diameter of the exhaust pipe must match the diameter of the connection ring.

Warning! The exhaust pipe is not supplied and must be purchased separately.

In the horizontal section, the exhaust pipe must have a slight upward slope (at an angle of about 10°) to allow the air to be exhausted more easily.

If the hood is equipped with charcoal filters, they must be removed.

Connect the flange to the exhaust pipe and the exhaust outlet using a connecting pipe of the same diameter as the air inlet (connect them together).

Replacement of existing exhaust pipes and branches with a smaller diameter leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the building's ventilation system and an increase in humidity levels.

Therefore, we disclaim any responsibility for the aforementioned! Use only the recommended short exhaust ducts.

Use exhaust ducts with the minimum number of bends (maximum bend angle: 90°). Avoid sharp changes in the cross-section of the exhaust duct. Use ducts with a smooth inner surface. The material of the exhaust duct must comply with standards.

BEKO HCF91620X - Exhaust mode - 1

Recirculation mode

The air is drawn in, filtered, and returned to the room. To use the hood in recirculation mode, it is necessary to install a filter system with activated carbon.

Hood models without a motor unit can only operate in one mode of air exhaust to the outside, so they must be connected to an external exhaust system (not included in the supply).

Installation instructions are provided with the hood.

Installation

The distance from any type of exhaust hood to the cooktop surface must be at least 50 cm for electric cooktops, and 65 cm for gas and combination cooktops.

It is necessary to take into account the distance specified in the installation instructions for gas cooktops.

BEKO HCF91620X - Installation - 1

Before starting installation:

  • First, check the dimensions of the supplied product against the intended installation location. Remove the filter/grease filter if present (see also the corresponding section). Reinstall the filter if you wish to use the hood in recirculation mode.
  • Check that the inside of the hood is not blocked by objects placed there during transport (e.g., packaging materials, warranty cards, etc.). If so, remove them and keep them. If possible, disconnect and move the furniture under and around the installation area to ensure free access to the wall/ceiling where the hood will be attached. If this is not possible, carefully protect the furniture and other items during installation. Check the surface level, cover it with protective material, and place the hood components on it. Also check the area around the hood installation zone.

(In the zone accessible also from the hood installation area) there is a ventilation grille and an outlet for air exhaust to the outside (or in exhaust mode).

Perform all necessary work (e.g., installation of the ventilation grille and/or making an opening for the exhaust pipe).

The hood must be installed at a height of at least 65 cm above the cooking surface for electric hobs and 75 cm for gas hobs. If necessary, contact qualified personnel to verify the suitability of materials depending on the type of wall or ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to support the weight of the hood.

Operation

Use the intensive speed during high concentration of cooking vapors. We recommend turning on the hood a few minutes before starting to cook and leaving it on for about 15 minutes after finishing cooking.

Grease filters

Fig. 14-32

The grease filters must be cleaned regularly, as they become clogged during cooking.

Replace the carbon filter (or the entire filter system, if your model has one) indicating this need, using non-abrasive cleaning agents by hand or in the dishwasher at low temperature and short cycle.

Washing in the dishwasher may cause slight discoloration of the filter, but its filtering characteristics remain unchanged.

To clean the filter, remove the filter holder from the appliance.

Carbon filter (only in recirculation mode) Fig. 31

Removes unpleasant kitchen odors.

The carbon filter can be one of the following types:

Carbon filter that can be washed. Carbon filter that cannot be washed.

Carbon filter that can be washed

The carbon filter can be washed every two months in warm water with mild cleaning agents, or in the dishwasher at 65°C (in the latter case, perform a full wash cycle without dishes inside the dishwasher).

Be careful not to damage the filter: remove the filter holder, then remove the filter from the holder and soak it in water for 10 minutes at a temperature of 100°C to ensure complete cleaning.

Replace the filter holder every year and every time the filter becomes saturated.

Carbon filter that cannot be washed

Checking the carbon filter for saturation is done after a long period of use, depending on the type of kitchen and the frequency of filter cleaning. In any case, replace the cartridge at least every four months.

Not washable.

Installation

Turn the bulb by the metal side of the cap, not by the glass part, with your hands.

Remove

Turn the bulb counterclockwise by 90 degrees and pull it out of the cap.

Replacing the lamp - Fig. 33

Disconnect the device from the power supply.

Caution! Before touching the lamp, make sure it has cooled down.

Replace the burned-out lamp with a new one of the same type as indicated on the label, or with a lamp of the same type.

  1. Remove the element by gently twisting it or using a similar tool.
  2. Replace the lamp.

Use only lamps of the specified type, 12V-20W, G4 base, do not touch them with your hands.

  1. Close the cover (with the latch).

If the lighting system does not work, check the correct installation of the lamp in the socket before contacting the technical support center.
