Each barbecue comes with detailed assembly instructions containing specific assembly procedures for each model. Follow figures 3 to 30 to ensure correct and safe assembly of the barbecue.
Although we make every effort to make the assembly process as easy as possible, there is a risk of cutting yourself on the corners and edges of prefabricated steel components if you do not take proper care during assembly. Please exercise caution when assembling all components. We strongly recommend protecting your hands with work gloves.
Some tasks should be performed by two people.
Positioning the barbecue
Once assembly is complete, position the barbecue in its final location. Use outdoors only.
The barbecue should be placed on a safe, level surface, away from flammable objects such as wooden fences or overhanging tree branches. It is strongly recommended that the minimum distances from combustible materials are: rear - 1500 mm, sides - 1500 mm, top - 1500 mm (Fig. 36).
Place the barbecue in a location sheltered from the wind so that the wind does not blow through the rear of the gas barbecue.
Gas cylinder
An LPG gas cylinder is required to operate the barbecue. We recommend using an 11 kg cylinder. The pressure regulator should correspond to the pressure and gas category of the appliance.
Information on recommended precautions:
The gas cylinder may only be stored and used in an upright position. Do not store the cylinder in a horizontal position, as this may damage the valve, resulting in a very dangerous gas leak.
In the event of a gas leak, immediately close the cylinder valve. Place the cylinder in a well-ventilated area outside the premises.
The cylinder should be placed in an easily accessible location so that the gas supply can be shut off immediately in case of danger. Always close the gas valve before moving the cylinder. Do not store the cylinder below
ground level (e.g. in basements) or in areas exposed to flooding. Never store cylinders in enclosed spaces.
Only use gas cylinders with a height H not exceeding 620 mm and a diameter D between 240 mm and 330 mm (Fig. 35).
Gas regulator
This device may only be used with a certified hose and pressure regulator.
The regulator must comply with the current versions of EN 16436, EN 16129 and EN 16436 and national regulations. The N1000 barbecue must be used with 37 mBar pressure regulators designed for category I _3B/P Propane/Butane.
Liquefied gas hose
The appliance must be equipped with a certified liquefied gas hose that complies with national standards and regulations. The hose parameters must be compatible with category I _3BrP Propane/Butane or a pressure of 37 mBar.
The liquefied gas hose connecting the appliance to the gas container should be approximately 600 mm long (max. 1500 mm)..
Place the liquid gas hose away from hot surfaces, including the bottom of the barbecue. Ensure that the liquid gas hose is not twisted or kinked. Check the liquid gas hose when replacing the gas cylinder or once a year whichever comes first.
If the liquid gas hose is cracked, cut, frayed or damaged in any other way, the appliance must not be used.
The liquid gas hose must be replaced if it is damaged and when required by national regulations. Contact your dealer or manufacturer for replacement parts.
Venturi tubes
The venturi tubes in a gas barbecue are located at the beginning of the burners, right next to the gas supply nozzles, and are a key component of the gas supply system to the burners. Their task is to control the flow of gas and mix it with air in the correct proportions, ensuring efficient and safe combustion.
Keep the Venturi tubes clean. Blockages caused by dust, insects, spiders, etc. can cause the flame to flicker.
If the flame flickers, immediately turn off the gas supply.
Check the Venturi tubes whenever:
- you smell gas escaping
- the barbecue does not heat up to the correct temperature
- the barbecue heats unevenly
- there is a crackling sound coming from the burners.
Cleaning the Venturi tubes
Always close the gas valve on the cylinder before cleaning the tubes.
-
Open the grill lid
-
Remove the grates to access the burners
-
Remove the burner covers
-
Unscrew the burners (Fig. 37)
-
Carefully lift the burner and remove the burners from the spindle
-
Clean the inside of the burner tube with a special narrow brush (not included). Thoroughly remove any debris from the outside. Clean all burner tubes in this manner. Pay particular attention to thoroughly cleaning the narrow parts of the tubes (Venturi tubes).
-
Carefully place the tube on the spindle and tighten it.
-
Replace the burner caps and grates.
WARNING: The position of the burner tube in relation to the opening is critical for safe operation. Before using the gas barbecue, check that the opening is inside the burner tube. If the burner tube does not fit into the valve opening, igniting the burner may cause an explosion and/or fire. If the barbecue does not work properly after cleaning all the tubes, have the appliance serviced.
Replacing and connecting the gas cylinder
This appliance can be used with metal or composite cylinders filled with propane-butane or propane gas. This appliance comes with a screw-on regulator with a working pressure of 37 mbar.
NEVER use an unstabilised gas supply without a regulator or a regulator for a different gas pressure.
Connecting the cylinder
Only use regulators with parameters that comply with the category and pressure specified in the operating instructions.
Some reducers have a knob for manual tightening, while others require a wrench for this purpose.
-
Check that the cylinder valve is closed. Tighten clockwise until it stops.
-
Remove the protective cap from the cylinder valve (do not throw it away, keep it).
-
Fit the connecting nut to the cylinder using the appropriate wrench or connecting knob. Tighten firmly (left-hand thread). When using a wrench, do not overtighten, as this may damage the seal.
-
When you need to turn on the gas supply, turn the cylinder valve counterclockwise.
Disconnecting the cylinder
-
Check that the cylinder valve is closed. Tighten it clockwise until it stops.
-
Use the wrench to unscrew the regulator nut (left-hand thread).
Remove the regulator and check the condition of the seal.
- Place the cap on the gas outlet of the cylinder.
Store unused cylinders outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
Checking for leaks (Fig. 32)
Check all connections for leaks before starting the appliance.
All factory connections have been thoroughly checked for leaks and the burners have been tested for proper flame. However, transport and handling may cause the fittings to loosen.
Precautions when checking for leaks:
- Check all fittings for leaks before turning on the gas barbecue.
- Check the cylinder valve for leaks after each cylinder replacement.
- Check the appliance for leaks after each cylinder disconnection and connection.
- Never check the appliance for leaks with a burning match or open flame.
- Check the appliance for leaks in the open air.
Leak test procedure
-
Connect the liquid gas hose and regulator to a full gas cylinder.
-
Check that all control knobs are in the 'OFF' position
-
Prepare a solution of soap and water or liquid detergent in a 1:1 ratio, or use specialised leak detection agents.
-
Open the cylinder valve fully.
-
Apply the soap solution or leak detection agent to all connections.
-
If there is a leak, bubbles will appear in the area of the leak.
-
If a leak is detected, close the gas cylinder with the shut-off valve, tighten the connector and check again.
-
If the leak persists, contact your barbecue dealer.
Do not operate the appliance if a leak is detected.
Insert the gas cylinder into the designated space (see Fig. 29).
7. Switching on the device
WARNING
Before starting up the unit, it is essential to carry out the steps described in the section 'Preparing
for operation'.
Before you start using the device, make sure that the following steps have been completed:
-
The device must be assembled in accordance with the instructions.
-
Check that the gas cylinder is full and properly connected to the regulator.
-
Check that the gas supply system is leak-free. For more information, see the section entitled 'Checking for leaks'.
-
Check that the Venturi nozzles are correctly positioned on the gas valve openings.
-
Check that the ignition cables for the main burner and side burner are connected.
-
WARNING: Always open the lid before igniting.
-
Set the control knobs to the 'OFF' position and turn on the gas supply. The lid must be open when igniting the burner!
When igniting the gas barbecue, do not stand directly above it.
Ignition using a pilot gas regulator (diagram fig. 36):
When all the knobs on the gas barbecue are in the 'OFF' position, set the gas cylinder valve to the open position. To create a spark, press the control knob (A) and hold it in this position for 3-5 seconds to allow the gas to flow, then turn it counterclockwise to the 'MAX' position (B). This will cause a spark in the burner ignition tube. You will hear a 'crack' from the igniter and see an orange flame 7-10 cm high coming out of the burner ignition tube on the left side of the burner (D). After hearing the 'crack,' hold the burner control knob for two seconds to allow the gas to flow completely through the burner tube (E) and ensure ignition.
Once the burner is lit, the adjacent burners will ignite when their regulators are turned to the 'MAX' position.
For the minimum setting, turn the gas control knob fully to the left.
If you have difficulty lighting your gas barbecue according to the above instructions, contact your retailer or manufacturer for advice.
8. Operation of the device
WARNING
When operating the device, all safety rules and instructions described in the safety conditions
observed..
Keep the appliance away from flammable materials during use. Burning in.
Before using the barbecue for the first time, burn it in as follows to remove any odours or impurities:
-
Lift the grill lid. Light all burners, then close the lid and leave the grill for about 20 minutes with the knobs set to 'MAX'.
-
Press and turn the knobs to the 'Off' position, lift the lid and wait for the appliance to cool down.
The appliance is now ready for use.
Heating up.
Adjust the temperature according to the type of food being prepared. Scrub the grill rack with a wire grill brush and grease or spray with
vegetable oil or olive oil. This will prevent food from sticking to the surface.
Before grilling, heat the grill for ten minutes with the lid closed.
Lid position.
The position of the lid during grilling depends on personal preference, but cooking is faster, uses less gas and allows for greater temperature control when the lid is closed. In addition, with the lid down, meat cooked directly on the grill takes on a stronger grilled flavour. Closing the lid is also necessary when grilling with closed hot air circulation.
Grilling temperatures
When the knob is set to Max, the grill will reach a temperature of approximately 320 - 340°C. This knob setting is designed for quick heating and burning off any residue from the grill after barbecuing. It is also ideal for quickly searing steaks before reducing the temperature. This setting is occasionally used for longer barbecuing sessions.
When the knob is set to the middle position, the temperature inside the barbecue will be around 230^ (with the lid down). This setting is mainly intended for grilling chicken, hamburgers and vegetables, as well as for roasting and baking.
When the knob is set to the MIN position, the temperature inside the barbecue will be approximately 155-175°C. This knob setting is intended for smoking and preparing large pieces of meat or delicate fish.
Temperatures are approximate. Actual temperatures depend on the outside temperature and wind strength.
Energy saving tips:
a) Reduce the time you open the lid.
b) Turn off the barbecue immediately after cooking.
c) Preheat the gas barbecue for only 10-15 minutes. (except for the first use - see the section on burn-in)
d) Do not preheat longer than recommended.
e) Do not use higher settings than necessary.
Side burner
For maximum efficiency with minimum gas consumption, keep the following in mind:
- After lighting the burner, adjust the flame as needed, from 'maximum' to 'minimum'.
- Use a pan of the appropriate size (only with a flat bottom).
- When the contents of the pan begin to boil, turn the knob to the 'low flame' position.
- Always cover the pan with a lid.
- Recommended pans with a diameter of 20-24 cm.
Grilling techniques.
Direct grilling involves cooking food on a grill directly over the flame.
Direct grilling is the most common method for cooking foods such as steaks, fish, burgers, kebabs and vegetables.
Information on direct grilling:
- Prepare the food to be grilled in advance. This will avoid unnecessary delays and reduce the waiting time for the food. Marinate and season the meat before placing it on the grill.
- For best results, the meat you place on the grill should be at room temperature. Remove excess fat from the meat to minimise excessive flames caused by dripping fat.
- With the lid closed, preheat the barbecue to the required temperature.
- Grease the grill with vegetable oil to prevent food from sticking to the surface.
- Do not salt the meat while grilling. It will be juicier if salted after grilling.
- To prevent steaks from drying out, use tongs instead of a fork and start grilling at a medium heat to quickly sear the meat and lock in the juices. Reduce the temperature to extend the cooking time when grilling thicker cuts of meat.
- Learn to recognise when the meat is grilled based on the cooking time and by touch. As it grills, the meat becomes harder and harder. If it is soft, it means that it is slightly undercooked. If it is hard, it means that it is well done.
Indirect grilling is a technique that involves cooking food not directly over the heat source, but next to it. It is ideal for larger pieces of meat, poultry, fish or vegetables that require longer cooking times without the risk of burning.
In indirect grilling, the heat source is located on the sides of the grill, and the food is placed in the centre, above the area without fire. The grill lid remains closed, allowing hot air to circulate – this works similarly to a convection oven.
Indirect grilling is used for roasting whole chickens, ribs, pork neck, preparing roasts, whole fish, and grilling vegetables that require longer cooking (e.g. peppers, aubergines).
Light the barbecue – for a charcoal barbecue, spread the embers on the sides; for a gas barbecue, turn on only the side burners. - With the lid closed, preheat the grill to the required temperature.
- Grease the grill with vegetable oil so that the food does not stick to the surface.
-
Place the food in the centre of the grill, away from the direct heat source.
-
Close the lid – maintain a constant temperature (approx. 160–200°C). Control the time and temperature – use a meat thermometer to avoid undercooking. Add flavour – you can use a tray with water, wine or herbs to increase moisture and flavour.
- Learn to recognise when the meat is grilled based on the cooking time and by touch. As it grills, the meat becomes increasingly firm. If it is soft, it means it is slightly undercooked. If it is firm, it means it is well cooked.
9. Ongoing maintenance
! WARNING
All maintenance must be carried out with the unit unplugged.
Storage
When storing the barbecue, always disconnect the gas cylinder and secure the appliance. Store the gas cylinder outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
Maintenance
It is recommended that you service your gas barbecue every 90 days, but it is absolutely essential to service it at least once a year. This will extend the life of your gas barbecue.
Gas barbecues are easy to clean with minimal effort. Simply follow the instructions below to make cleaning easier.
Cleaning the cooking grates
We recommend washing the cooking grates in a solution of mild soap and warm water. You can use a cloth or soft brush to clean the cooking grates.
Cleaning the heat diffusers
Periodically wash the heat diffusers in a solution of soap and warm water. Use a soft brush to remove stubborn burnt-on cooking residue. The heat diffusers should be dry before being reinstalled.
Cleaning the grease tray
The grease tray should be emptied and wiped periodically, then washed in a solution of mild detergent and warm water. A small amount of sand or cat litter can be placed at the bottom of the grease tray to absorb grease. Check the grease tray frequently to prevent excess grease from accumulating and overflowing from the tray.
Annual cleaning of the grill interior
Burning out the barbecue after each use will ensure that it is ready for the next use. However, once a year, the entire barbecue should be thoroughly cleaned to keep it in excellent working order. Follow these steps.
-
Turn all burner valves to the off position.
-
Set the LPG cylinder valve to the fully closed position.
-
Disconnect the LPG hose and regulator assembly from the gas barbecue. Check for damage and, if necessary, replace parts with manufacturer's replacement parts, the numbers of which are listed in the parts list.
-
Remove and clean the heat diffusers, cooking grates and barbecue burners.
-
Cover the gas valve openings with aluminium foil.
-
Brush the inside and bottom of the barbecue with a nylon brush, then wash it with mild soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and leave to dry.
-
Remove the aluminium foil, then reinstall the heat diffusers and cooking grates.
-
Reconnect the gas source and check that the burner flame is working properly.
Cleaning the exterior
We recommend washing the barbecue with mild soap and warm water. You can use a cloth or sponge for this purpose. Do not use abrasive cleaners or brushes that could damage the surface during cleaning.
Cleaning the burner tubes and burner ports
To reduce the risk of 'FLASH-BACK', i.e. the flame returning to the inside of the burner or gas pipe, clean the Venturi tubes at least once a month at the end of summer or beginning of autumn, or when the barbecue has not been used for a long time, in accordance with the procedure in point 6 - cleaning the Venturi tubes.
