Noiseandvibrationvalueshavebeen determined according to the standards and regulations mentioned in the declaration of conformity.

The specified vibration emission value and the stated noise emission value have been measured according to a standardised test method and can be used to compare one power tool with another.

The specified vibration emission value and the stated noise emission value can also be used for a provisional assessment of the load.

Warning: The vibration emission value whilst actually using the power tool may vary from the given values depending on the type and way in which the power tool is used as well as the type of workpiece being processed in particular. Try to keep the exposure to vibrations as low as possible. One example of a measure to reduce vibration exposure when using the tool is limiting the working hours. All parts of the operating cycle have to be considered while doing so (for example, times when the power tool is switched off and times when it is switched on but running without any load).

General safety instructions for power tools

PARKSIDE POFA 12 B3 - General safety instructions for power tools - 1

WARNING! Read all safety notices, instructions, illustrations and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Omissions in the compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, fire and/or severe injuries.

Retain all safety directions and instructions for future use.

The term "Power Tools" used in the safety instructions refers to mains-operated power tools (with power cord) and to battery-operated power tools (without power cord).

1) Work area safety

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.

b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

GBMT

c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operation of the power tool in a damp environment is unavoidable, please use a residual current circuitry. The use of a residual current circuitry reduces the risk of an electric shock.

3) Personal safety

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention white operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and

collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

h) Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security and do not disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a fraction of a second.

4) Power tool use and care

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may af-

fect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

h) Keep handles and grip surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grip surfaces do not permit safe operation and control over the power tool in unexpected situations.

5) CAREFUL HANDLING AND USE OF BATTERY DEVICES

a) Charge the batteries only in chargers that are recommended by the manufacturer. Risk of fire if a charger that is suitable for a specific type of battery is used with other batteries.

b) In the power tools, use only the batteries designed for the purpose. The use of other batteries may result in injuries and risk of fire.

c) Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal objects, which could cause bridging of the contacts.

A short circuit between the battery contacts may cause burns or fire.

GBMT

d) If used incorrectly, liquid may leak from the battery. Avoid contact with this. In the event of accidental contact, rinse off with water. If the liquid gets into eyes, seek medical assistance. Leaking battery fluid may cause skin irritations or burns.

PARKSIDE POFA 12 B3 - Safety notices for milling cutters - 2

Materials hazardous to health such as lead, materials coated in paint containing lead or materials containing asbestos may not be worked on using this device!

  • Fasten and secure the workpiece by means of clamps or with another method on a stable underground. If you hold the workpiece only with your hand or against your own body, it will stay instable and this can lead to a loss of control.
  • The permissible rotation speed of the attachment tools must be at least as high as the highest rotation speed indicated on the power tool. Accessories that run faster than the permissible speed can be destroyed.
  • Cutters and other accessories must be exactly matching the tool holder (collet chuck) of your power tool. Attachment tools that are not exactly matching the tool holder of the power tool rotate unevenly, vibrate very strongly and can ultimately lead to a loss of control.
  • Ensure that the cutter is assembled correctly. A cutter that is not assembled correctly can break during the milling or be ejected and present a risk of injury.
  • Move the power tool against the workpiece only when it is turned on. Otherwise, there is a risk of kick-back if the attachment tools jam in the workpiece.

- Do not put your hands in the cutting area and neither on the cutter. Hold the upper handle or the motor housing with your other hand. When holding the milling cutter with both hands, they cannot be injured by the cutter.

- Never mill over metal objects, nails or screws. The milling cutter can be damaged and lead to increased vibrations.

- Use suitable detectors in order to find hidden supply lines or ask the local utility company. Contact with electrical cables can lead to electric shock and fire, contact with a gas pipe can result in an explosion. Damage to a water pipe can lead to property damaged and electric shock.

- Do not use any blunt or damaged tools. Blunt or damaged tools can cause uncontrollable situations.

- Hold the power tool tightly with both hands while working and ensure a secure footing. The power tool is guided more securely with both hands.

- Wait until the power tool has stopped before placing it down. The attachment tools can jam and lead to a loss of control over the power tool.

- Avoid contact with the tool or the workpiece immediately after processing. The parts may be hot and cause burn injuries.

- Use only milling cutters which have the correct shank diameter and are suitable for the speed of the power tool.

- Do not use any accessories that are not recommended by PARKSIDE. This can result in electric shock or fire.

  2. Place the battery-powered router cutter onto the edge of the workpiece while allowing space below the cutter.

  3. Set the cutting depth to 1-2 mm and fix in place.

  4. Make sure that the parallel stop (22) lies against the workpiece edge correctly.

  5. Begin to remove 1-2 mm of wood in small steps using the battery-powered router cutter. To do so, move the turned-on device along the workpiece edge with lateral pressure on the parallel stop (22).

The parallel stop (22) acts as the lateral guide for the battery-powered router cutter.

Continuously check that the groove has a right angle.

  1. For deeper grooves, repeat work steps 4-5 until you achieve the desired result.

PARKSIDE POFA 12 B3 - Disposal/environmental protection - 1

Machines do not belong with domestic waste.

Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment: Consumers are legally obliged to recycle electrical and electronic equipment in an environmentally sound manner at the end of its life. In this way, environmentally friendly and resource-saving recycling is ensured.

Depending on the implementation in national law, you may have the following options:

  • Return to a shop,
  • Hand over to an official collection point,
  • Return to the manufacturer/distributor.
This does not affect accessories enclosed with the old devices or tools without any electrical components.

PARKSIDE POFA 12 B3 - Disposal/environmental protection - 2

Do not throw batteries into domestic waste, fire (risk of explosion) or water. Damaged batteries can harm the environment and your health if poisonous or liquids escape.

Dispose of the batteries according to local standards. Defective or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC. Hand in the batteries at a used battery collection point where they are recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. For more information, please

contact your local waste management provider or our service centre.

Dispose of batteries in a discharged state. We recommend covering the contacts with an adhesive strip to protect against short circuits. Do not open the battery.
