3 - Technical characteristics and

For safety reasons, this appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physi- cal, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

The user is responsible to third parties for all matters resulting in the use of the product (electrical, hydraulic installation, etc ...). In France, comply with standard NF C15-100 of 07/00, which governs low voltage electrical installations. In other countries, comply with local regulations. Before using the product, it is therefore advisable to have an experienced electrician check that the neces- sary safety measures on the electrical network are observed. The supply characteristics indicated on the rating label must correspond to the characteristics of the electrical network. For reasons of security, the electrical network that powers your product must be equipped with a Residual current device (10mA or 30mA) and grounded plugs. For use in swimming pools, ponds and fountains, the Tecnotronic must always be securely set up on a flat and dry surface. If you add an extension cord, it must be of type H07 RN-F with the same section as the power cable of your product, with a waterproof connection plug. Never carry Tecnotronic by the cables. Before each use, check that the power cable is in good condition; do not use the product otherwise. Do not make any changes to the product. Do not modify or attempt to access the product in any way. If the appliance or the supply cord is damaged, it must be repaired by manufacturer, its service agent or qualified person. Our guarantee is excluded for the normal wear of the material, deterioration or accidents resulting from a faulty and abnormal use of the equipment, or due to a modification of the product or an intervention on the electric part. In case of non-compliance with the instruc- tions, the user incurs a risk that can lead to electrocution.

2 - AREA OF APPLICATION

The Tecnotronic is used to change an electric pump into an automatic pump for domestic use and has 2 functions: - it allows the pump to be operated automatically: it starts it up when the tap is turned on and stops it about 15 seconds after the tap is turned off. - it protects the pump from operating when dry: the safety system automatically stops the pump when there is no water suction and therefore prevents any possible damage. When the pump stops, this is si- gnalled by the RED INDICATOR (4) coming on, on the control panel. The water pumped out must not exceed a tempera- ture of 55°C. Attention: This product is not suitable for use with salt water, corrosive products, flammable, explosive or food liquids. Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact you local go- vernment for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and well-being. When replacing old appliances with new ones, the retailer is legally obligated to take back your old ap- pliance for disposals at least free of charge. The packaging of the product is recyclable. The device and its accessories contain materials (including plastics) which can be recycled. GB7

5 - PREPARATION - FIRST USE

The Tecnotronic is assembled on the delivery port of the pump by screwing the 1"¼ female entry connector (8) onto the male thread of the pump. If the pump has a different exit from a 1"¼ male one, an intermediate connector (provided) must be used (fig.2). After fitting the Tecnotronic, connect the connection cable (7) to the pump. Before connecting the suction hose to the pump, fit a filter to stop impurities to the suction hole of the pump. The use of the filter is necessary to prevent any da- mage to the Tecnotronic and consequently any opera- ting problems.

Warning: Before use, it is necessary to fill the

pump and the suction hose completely with water, in order to allow priming. In cases where the water level is lower than the pump, then a suction hose with a non-return valve must be used. This allows them to be filled for the first use and prevents them from emptying when the pump stops automatically, thus avoiding any problems when the pump is restarted.

6 - PANEL AND INDICATORS

The Tecnotronic is equipped with a control panel with three luminous diodes which indicate the operating condition of the pump: - GREEN INDICATOR (1): It comes on when the Tecnotronic is connected to the electricity supply. - YELLOW INDICATOR (3): Lights up when the pump starts and goes out when it stops. - RED INDICATOR (4): Lights up when operation is prevented due to a lack of water at suction or if the pump breaks down. - RESETTING BUTTON (RESET - 2): This serves to restart the pump when a regular water supply has been re-established. NB :In the case where it does not start up, always check that the suction hose is full of water. The Tecnotronic system is delivered with supply cables. Connect the supply cable (6) to the electricity supply. If the suction phase does not start within 120 seconds, the pump stops automatically and the cause of the malfunction must be determined. 6 - MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Keep the system in a place that does not freeze. Incidents Causes Solution The red indicator (3) lights up. No water. Restore the water supply. The pump starts and stops all the time.

1- The circuit is not sealed.

2- Probable presence of foreign

bodies inside the Tecnotronic. 1-Check the circuit and the different con- nections to the pump.

2- Disconnect the power supply, remove the

Tecnotronic from the pump and rinse it completely with a water jet through the entry side (8), with a garden hose for example. The pump does not work.

1- The pump has broken down.

2- The Tecnotronic is maybe

blocked with limescale.

3- The pump is not primed.

1- After disconnecting the Tecnotronic from

the pump electrically and hydraulically, try to make the pump work alone by connecting it to the power supply.

2- If, through the exit hole (5), you see that

the check valve is jammed,wash it by filling the Tecnotronic with vinegar or another anti- limescale product throughthe exit hole. If the check valve is operating correctly, contact the after-sales department.

Extended Contractual Warranty We guarantee our products for a period stated on the product from their date of purchase (Mandatory Con- tractual Warranty cover extended to 2 years + Exten- sion of our Contractual Warranty). In the event of failure to present proof of the product date of purchase, the Warranty is effective from the product date of manufacture (stated on the product). Contractual warranty exclusions The contractual warranty does not apply in the follo- wing cases: -The normal wear parts: seals, mechanical seals, -The products that are used in violation of the techni- cal recommendations, - Products used improperly, - Products that are not regularly maintained - Damage to products (impacts, drops, crushing, etc.) caused due to negligence, improper maintenance, improper or abnormal use of the product, - Replacement of a component following a loss. Warranty activation Please keep your proof of purchase (invoice or legible till receipt), as this will be required in the event of a claim under the Contractual Warranty. A product under warranty that has been repaired or replaced, remains guaranteed for the remaining dura- tion and under the original terms of the Contractual Warranty granted at the time of purchase. All returned products become the property of HOZELOCK-EXEL when replaced by a new product. The Contractual Warranty, the terms of which are described above, does not replace the Legal Warran- ty.
