HOT ROD DEVILLE™ ML

Inspired by Michael Landau

The Hot Rod DeVille ML amplifier delivers beautiful tube tone with features inspired by instrumental solo artist, world-class sideman, session master and "players' player" Michael Landau. An influential guitarist known for creating rich, expressive tones, Landau has used Hot Rod DeVille amps on stage for many years, with a special two-amp setup fed by a variety of stomp boxes.

Designed in conjunction with Michael Landau, the new ML model is based on the Fender Hot Rod DeVille III, with tube circuitry and 60-watt output, two 12" speakers, spring reverb and an effects loop. The ML version ups the ante by incorporating several cool features that guitar players are sure to appreciate, such as volume-switching and boost capabilities.

The following changes have been incorporated:

  • Drive-channel capabilities have been replaced by two identical preamp channel volume controls that can be set to different levels and accessed by footswitch
  • An additional "boost" mode can be selected by footswitch for extra volume on channel two when needed
  • Two 12", 70-watt Celestion® V-type speakers
  • Hand-soldered speaker wiring and heavy duty Switchcraft® speaker plug
  • "ML" logo badge on grille
  • Wide padded leatherette handle

Cover and two-button volume/boost footswitch included.

P. POWER INDICATOR—Illuminates when the unit is ON. Unscrew the red jewel to access the bulb (type T47) for replacement.

Q. STANDBY—Use Standby instead of switching the power off during short breaks to avoid having to wait for the tubes to warm up when you want to start playing again. Also, keep the amplifier on Standby for the first 30 seconds when you first switch the power on to give the tubes a gentle warm up cycle.

FENDER Hot Rod Deville ML 212 - CHANNEL INDICATOR— - 5

Using Standby will extend the life span of your amplifier's vacuum tubes by reducing the shock of the heat-up/cool-down cycle on the tube filaments.

R. POWER SWITCH—Switches the unit ON/OFF.

S. POWER CORD—Connect to a grounded outlet in accordance with the voltage and frequency ratings specified on the rear panel of your amplifier.
T. FUSE—The fuse protects the unit from electrical faults. Replace fuses only with the type and rating specified on the fuse holder. If the unit repeatedly blows fuses, have the unit tested at an authorized Fender® Service Center.
U. INTERNAL SPEAKER JACK—One of the following speaker configurations (internal or external) must always be connected when the unit is ON to prevent damage to the amplifier:

FENDER Hot Rod Deville ML 212 - Rear Panel - 2

*Insert an open plug (without speakers connected) into the Internal Speaker jack {U} for configuration three (3).

V. EXTERNAL SPEAKER JACK — This jack is wired in parallel with the internal speaker jack and must only be used with a speaker load or an open plug connected to the internal speaker jack, as shown above in the INTERNAL SPEAKER JACK diagram.

W. OUTPUT TUBES GT6L6R—Your new Fender amplifier comes equipped with the highest quality tubes available, sourced from various manufacturers worldwide. Because of occasional irregularities in supply, the specific tube type used in each amplifier is subject to change without notice.

CAUTION, SHOCK HAZARD: To replace the power tubes please contact an authorized service center for this periodic maintenance. Removing the back panel exposes dangerous high voltage components and is not a user-serviceable procedure.

When replacing power tube sets with the same rating and type of tubes, no adjustment should be needed. When tweaking the performance characteristics of your amplifier with a different power tube set, you should have a qualified service technician re-bias your amp to meet the optimum performance specifications for the new tubes.

In the future, if you experience any sonic performance issues with your amp, or have further questions concerning the tubes in your amplifier, please contact your Fender dealer or authorized service center.

X. PREAMP TUBE STABILIZER—A vibration-absorbing

stabilizer is installed around the preamp tubes to minimize the tube microphonics that normally develop over time. The stabilizer can be used with all preamp tubes compatible with your Hot Rod amplifier.
