Instructions on environment protection

Heat and warmth
Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight. Make sure that the appliance is not subject to direct heat sources such as heaters or open fire. Make sure that the ventilation slots of the appliance are not covered.

Moisture and cleaning
This appliance is not waterproof! Do not immerse player in water. Do not allow player to come in contact with water. If water gets inside the player it may cause serious damage. Do not use cleaning agents that contain alcohol, ammoniac, benzene or abrasives as these could damage the player. For cleaning, use a soft, moistened cloth.

Professional recycling
Batteries and packaging should not be disposed of in the trash. Batteries must be handed over to a collection centre for used batteries. Separating disposable packaging materials is ecologically friendly.

5. WATER AND MOISTURE
The appliance should not be used near water, for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, swimming pool or in a wet basement.
6. VENTILATION
Openings in the device serve its proper ventilation, are necessary for the operation and prevent overheating. The unit should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. Do not place on bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings, or in a confining installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings.
7. HEAT
The unit should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
8. POWER SOURCE
The unit should be connected to power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the unit.
9. POWER CORD PROTECTION
Power supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them.
10. NON-USE
During longer periods of non-use please disconnect from mains power supply and antenna.
11. OBJECT and LIQUID ENTRY
Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings.
12. DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE
The unit should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
a. The power-supply cord or plug has been damaged.
b. Objects have fallen into, or liquid has been spilled into the unit enclosure.
c. The unit has been exposed to rain or moisture.
d. The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged. Only use controls and adjustments as specified in the manual.
e. The unit does not appear to operate normally.
f. The device displays serious changes in its performance.
13. SERVICING
The user should not attempt to service the unit beyond that described in the user operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.
14. CLEANING
Disconnect from mains power supply before cleaning. Do not use liquid or spray cleaners, only use a damp cloth. Follow the care and maintenance instructions in this manual.
15. LIGHTNING
During lightning and longer periods of non-use please disconnect from mains power supply and antenna.
16. SAFETY CHECK
After servicing the unit ask the customer service for a safety check.
17. OVERLOAD
To avoid fire and electric shock do not overload wall outlets and convenience receptacles.
18. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE
Disconnect from mains power supply and remove batteries if unit malfunctions. Reconnect after a short time.
19.DISCONNECT THE POWER
Disconnect the power plug and appliance coupler when the device is not used. It's easy to connect when you need to use them again.

FURTHER NOTES ABOUT THE DEVICE
Setting a safe volume level
- If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
- What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
- To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
- Increase the volume slowly.
- Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.
Condensation
- Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly.
- Don't turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.
Saving energy
- During nonuse of the unit it is advisable to turn off the player with the power switch.
- If the unit is not used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the AC socket.
Unpacking
- Take out the unit from the packing carefully. Please keep the packing for further use.
- Carefully remove possible protection cardboards and slipcovers.

POWER SUPPLIES
Battery operation
- Open the battery compartment lid by pressing the two brackets at the same time. Remove the lid and insert 6 batteries (C/UM-2). Please observe correct polarities when inserting the batteries.
- Close the battery compartment by pushing in the two tabs of the lid into the corresponding recesses and flap it towards the device until the brackets audibly snap in.
Important
- If the device is operated exclusively with AC power or during non-use of more than one month, please remove the batteries in order to avoid any damage by leaking batteries.
- Replace the batteries if the volume of the device becomes lower or the sound becomes distorted.
Battery Safety Precautions
- Follow the battery manufacturer's safety, usage and disposal instructions.
- Only use batteries of the same type and size.
- Insert the batteries observing the polarity (+/-) . Failure to properly align the battery polarity can cause personal injury and/or property damage.
- Do not mix battery types (e.g. alkaline, zinc/carbon, rechargeable batteries) or exhausted and new batteries.
- To avoid fire and explosion do not recharge normal batteries. Keep batteries away from children and pets.
- We recommend the use of alkaline batteries for a longer lifetime of the batteries.
Mains operation
The device is designed for mains power supply AC 230 V~50 Hz. Do not connect the device to any other power supply to avoid damage that is not covered by your warranty.
- Connect the smaller plug to the AC socket at the rear of the device. Make sure that the plug is completely inserted.
- Insert the mains plug to a wall outlet.
- Disconnect the Power cord from the mains when the device is not used.
GENERAL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
On/Off
Switch on the device by turning the volume control Volume clockwise, until you overcome the point of resistance.
Switch of the device by turning the volume control Volume anti-clockwise, until you overcome the point of resistance.
Volume control
Increase or decrease the volume by rotating the volume control Volume to the left or right.
RADIO OPERATION
Select with the FM, MW buttons to choose your desired frequency band.
Advice for better reception
- FM: Fully extend the telescopic antenna and turn it for better reception.
- MW: The device has a built-in antenna. Change the position of the device if reception is poor.
Frequency adjustment
- Tune in the desired station by rotating the frequency scale. Rotating clockwise increases and rotating counter clockwise decreases the frequency.
- The current adjusted frequency for selected band can be read on the frequency scale.
Tone control
Adjust the tone by rotating the knob Tone. By rotating to the left the bass is intensified, rotating to the right intensifies the treble.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Please observe also the safety advices.
- Before cleaning always pull the power plug.
- Clean the housing with a soft and moist cloth and a mild detergent.
- Never use abrasive detergents or sharp utensils.

If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the unit for repair. If you are unable to solve a problem by following these tips, consult your dealer or authorized service center.
