The symbols in the Instruction Manual and on the machine shall aide in directing your attention to possible hazardous situations when working with this machine.

For your safety.

Do not use the radius grinding module before you have thoroughly read and completely understood these operating instructions, including the figures, specifications, and safety regulations.

Read and observe the operating instructions of the belt grinder GX75/GX752H, to which this machine is to be mounted.

This Instruction Manual should be kept for later use and enclosed with the power tool, should it be passed on or sold.

For assembly of the radius grinding module to the belt grinder, use only the fastening material provided. Faulty assembly can cause the radius grinding module to loosen from the belt grinder during operation and lead to serious accidents.

Intended use of the machine.

The radius grinding module GXR is to be used together with the belt grinder GX75/GX752H exclusively for grinding off pipe ends with diameters between 16- 75mm using the application tools and accessories recommended by FEIN in weather-protected environments.

Workpieces with diameters below 35mm may not be worked with the belt grinder GX75!

Special safety instructions.

Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on application, use face shield, safety goggles or safety glasses. Where appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves and workshop apron capable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece fragments. The eye protection must be capable of stopping flying debris generated by various operations. The dust mask or respirator must be capable of filtrating particles generated by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.

Before switching on, make sure that all clamping levers and tensioning devices are well tightened. If the machine suddenly sinks or the workpiece comes loose during the working procedure, this can lead to serious accidents.

Assembly instructions (figures 1-3).

Belt grinder GX75.

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug.

Dismount the spark guard (3).

Dismount the grinding rest (5), the chip/grinding-dust box (6) and the star-knob bolt (4).

Open side cover (8).

Loosen the tensioning device (1) and remove the grinding belt.

Shut the side cover.

Loosen the lever of tilting device (7) and set the belt grinder to a horizontal position.

Radius grinding module GXR.

Remove the unit from its packaging and fit the accessories as described in the data sheet.

Position the radius grinding module against the belt grinder and align the drill holes of the screws.

Connect both units (13) with the two mounting levers. Tighten the levers of the tilting device (7).

Fill the collection box (18) half full with water. Position the collection box between the support columns of the radius grinding module.

There is a fire hazard when operating the machine without the collection box filled with water!

Mounting the contact roller.

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug.

Loosen both wing bolts (11) and completely slide the spark guard (10) up.

Insert a contact roller (21) with the desired diameter into the guide fork and secure it with both screws (20). Adjust the belt tracking each time after changing a contact roller.

Contact rollers not in use should always be protected against damage by placing them in the bracket/magazine for contact rollers (27).

Mounting/replacing the grinding belt

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug.

Open side cover (8+19).

Loosen the tensioning device (1) and mount a 75 × 2250 ~mm long grinding belt.

The running-direction marking of the grinding belt must correspond with the rotation direction.

Tension the grinding belt with the tensioning device (1). Move the grinding belt manually and observe, if it moves off towards the left or right of the contact roller. Adjust the guidance of the drive wheel on the belt grinder such that the grinding belt runs centrally. The exact calibration is carried out while the machine is running.

Shut the side cover (8+19).

Operating instructions.

Close the side covers (19)/(8). When the protective devices are not mounted, clothing can get caught by the grinding belt and lead to personal injury.

GX75/GX752H*

Switching on:

Disengage and fold up the safety pushbutton (15^*)

Press pushbutton "I" (17*).

Switching off:

Fold up safety pushbutton (15'). Press pushbutton "0" (17').

After switching off, the machine runs on for approx. 50 seconds.

Safety pushbutton:

In situations of danger, press the safety pushbutton to switch the machine off.

Adjusting the grinding belt.

Briefly switch the belt grinder on.

Observe in which direction the grinding belt runs out.

Adjust the belt tracking on the belt until the grinding belt runs centrally on the contact roller (21).

If the belt tracking can not be adjusted centrally, the parallelism of the GXR must be adjusted (figure 2+3): Loosen the two nuts (9).

Readjust screws (9) using a 4 mm Allen key. Briefly switch to the belt grinder.

Tighten the two nuts (9) again.

Check the parallelism of the belt tracking. Repeat the previous steps if the result is not satisfactory.

NOTE: The guidance device for the contact roller of the GXR is set parallel ex works. Adjustment is only necessary when centric belt tracking is not achieved while setting up the drive wheel.

Adjusting the center height.

The height of the contact roller is normally adjusted to the pipe center. However, the adjustment can also be changed:

Release clamping lever (15).

Adjust the contact roller to the desired height with lever (14).

Tighten the clamping lever again.

Check the adjustment with a grinding test-run.

Working instructions.

Adjust the belt tracking.

Adjust the center height.

If required, use a length stop (accessories) to precisely clamp the workpiece.

Position yourself aside the machine and pull the feed lever (12) with your left hand.

Rotate crank (17) with your right hand to move the work table laterally and wear off the grinding belt uniformly. When doing this, the workpiece may not be moved beyond the edge of the grinding belt.

Always work with uniform feed pressure.

Repair and customer service.

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug.

Repairs may be carried out only by qualified persons in conformity with the valid regulations.

For repairs, we recommend our FEIN customer service centre, the FEIN authorised service centres and FEIN agencies.

The current spare parts list of this machine can be found on the Internet under www.fein.com.

Carry out the following maintenance regularly:

Daily maintenance

Empty the collection box. Separate and dispose of water and metal dust.

Open cover (19) and side cover (8) and remove the metal dust.

The metal dust must be sufficiently cooled and may only be disposed of in suitable containers.

Mount cover (19) and side cover (8) again.

Cleaning the exterior of the machine with compressed air.

If required, you can change the following parts yourself: Grinding belt, contact roller (21), spark guard (1)

Warranty and liability.

The warranty for the product is valid in accordance with the legal regulations in the country where it is marketed. In addition, FEIN also provides a guarantee in accordance with the FEIN manufacturer's warranty declaration.

The delivery scope of your machine may include only a part of the accessories described or shown in this instruction manual.
