Frequently Asked Questions - VAC40 EHEIM

What is the difference between automatic and manual mode?
The automatic mode (symbol "—") alternates between 50-second suction cycles and 20-second pauses for drainage. The manual mode (symbol "==") runs continuously until you stop it.
Can I use the vacuum to completely empty a pond?
No, the device is designed for bottom cleaning but not for completely emptying a pond, pool, or container.
What types of waste can I vacuum?
You can vacuum sludge, plant debris, and other pond dirt. Prohibited for flammable, explosive, toxic substances, salt water, or drinking water.
How to install the device near the pond?
Place the device on a flat surface, at least 2 meters from the pond edge. Form a drip loop on the cable to protect the plug from moisture.
What if the device does not start in automatic mode?
Check that the switch is in automatic position (\—). The device has a 10-second delay before starting. Ensure the plug is properly connected and the container is not full.
How to clean the filter?
For the sponge filter: rinse with clean water. For the pleated paper filter: shake or replace. Do not use aggressive chemicals.
Can I use the vacuum without filter?
No, never use the device without the appropriate filter (sponge for wet, paper for dry). This could damage the motor.
What is the maximum immersion depth of the nozzle?
The maximum depth is 1.2 meters. The working height must not exceed 1.5 meters.
How to empty the tank in automatic mode?
In automatic mode, the device stops every 50 seconds to empty the tank via the drainage hose. Ensure the drainage hose is not blocked.
What if the float does not work?
Check that the float is clean and undamaged. If the tank is full and suction does not stop, immediately turn off the device and empty the tank.
