How to install the EHEIM thermopreset 50 heater?

Attach the suction cups to the heater (see illustration A), then mount the device on the interior wall of the aquarium, below the water surface, respecting the minimum water level (MIN mark). Place it in an area with strong water flow for uniform heating.

What water temperature is set by the thermostat?

The thermostat is fixed at 25 °C ± 1 °C. The red LED lights up when the device is heating, indicating that the temperature is below 25 °C.

Can I use the heater out of water?

No, never use the device out of water. In case of dry running, the thermal circuit breaker cuts off the power; after cooling, it automatically restarts. If this happens, unplug immediately and let it cool for at least 1 hour on a non-flammable surface.

How to clean the heater?

Unplug the device, let it cool in the water for at least 30 minutes, then remove and clean under running water without using hard objects or harsh products. Do not clean in the dishwasher.

What if the heater stops heating?

First check the power supply and outlet. If the LED does not light up, the thermal circuit breaker may have tripped (overheating). Wait for the device to cool in the water. If the problem persists, contact an EHEIM service center.

The mains cable is damaged, what to do?

The mains cable is not replaceable. If damaged, the device must be disposed of. Do not attempt repair. Consult electronic waste disposal guidelines.

What aquarium volume suits the 50 W model?

The thermopreset 50 W model is suitable for aquariums with a volume of 25 to 60 liters. For larger volumes, use a higher power model (100, 150, or 200 W).

Can I use a timer or remote control system with this heater?

No, the device must not be used with a timer or external remote control. It should be plugged directly into the mains.

How to replace the heater suction cups?

The suction cup kit (ref. 7475700) contains 2 suction cups and a support. To replace, slide the suction cup into the support, place the support on the heater, then screw the suction cup into the corresponding hole. Moisten the suction cups to facilitate attachment.

What safety precautions should be taken?

Before any use, check the integrity of the cable and glass body. The device must always be immersed at least up to the MIN mark. Unplug before any maintenance. Form a drip loop on the cable. Use a 30 mA residual current circuit breaker. Do not touch hot surfaces.

Application

The EHEIM thermopreset is an automatic underwater heater for aquariums. The thermostat is permanently set to 25^ ± 1^ .

The appliance and all parts included in the scope of delivery are intended for private use and must only be used:

for aquarium-related purposes
- indoors
in compliance with the technical data

The following limitations apply to the appliance:

• do not use for commercial or industrial purposes
• do not heat caustic, inflammable, aggressive or explosive sub -

stances, food or drinking water

the water temperature may not exceed 35^
- never operate out of water

For your safety

• Do not let the appliance packaging and small parts get into the hands of children or people who are unaware of how to handle them, as hazards can arise (danger of suffocation!). Keep away from animals.

  The appliance must never be operated without a heater protector.
• Repairs must only be carried out by an EHEIM service centre.
• The mains cable of this appliance cannot be replaced. If the cable is damaged, the appliance must be scrapped.
  Only carry out the work described in these instructions.
• Never make technical modifications to the appliance.
  Only use original spare parts and accessories for the appliance.
• This appliance may not be operated with an additional timer or an additional control system.

We recommend protecting all electrical aquarium appliances via a residual current protective device with a rated residual current of 30mA maximum.
- If they are not being used, always disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply before you install/remove any parts and before all cleaning and maintenance work.

• Protect the mains socket and mains plug against moisture and wetness. A drip loop must be formed with the mains cable. This prevents any water running along the cable to the mains socket, which would result in a short-circuit.
  The electrical data of the appliance must match the data of the power mains. This data is found on the type plate, the packaging and in these instructions.
  The appliance has an immersion depth of max. 1.2 m.

• Danger of burning! The appliance is very hot during and directly after operation. Never touch hot parts or the heating zone!

Commissioning

Installing the suction cup (A)

1. Push the suction cup ① into the suction cup holder ②
2. Attach the suction cup holder to the heater.
3. Rotate the suction cup ③ in the corresponding opening in the heater.

Hint: Moisten the suction cups with water for easier installation.

Installing the heater (B)

1. Attach the appliance below water level on the inside of your aquarium. Take the minimum water level into account.

• The heater must be flushed well in order to guarantee consistent water heating. Therefore, place the heater in an area with a strong flow.
• Check the water temperature at regular intervals.
  In order to achieve a water temperature of 25^ ± 1^ , the ambient temperature must not fall below 18^ .

Operation

Switching the heater on/off

1. Insert the mains plug in the mains socket. The red LED ④ illuminates when the heater heats the water (water temperature below 25^ ± 1^ ).
2. To turn it off, remove the mains plug from the mains socket.

Before you remove the heater

WARNING! Burning and fire hazards due to hot surfaces.

• Allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes before removing it.

If you have accidentally removed the heater during operation:

• Do not submerge the heater back into the water.
  Do not touch any hot surfaces.
• Remove the mains plug and allow the heater to cool down for at least one hour on a heat-resistant base.

Thermal circuit breaker

The heater is equipped with a thermal circuit breaker as protection against overheating and any associated fire hazards. In the event of the heater being accidentally operated outside the water or when the water level is too low, it will be switched off. The heater will switch back on automatically after cooling down.

Maintenance

• Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before carrying out any maintenance work.

• Allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes before removing it.

CAUTION! Material damage.

Do not use hard objects or aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning.
The appliance is not dishwasher-safe! Do not clean the appliance in the dishwasher.

Cleaning

1. Disconnect the heater from the power supply.
2. Allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes.
3. Take the appliance out of the aquarium.
4. Clean the heater under running water.

Decommissioning and disposal

Disposal

When disposing of the appliance, pay attention to the relevant statutory regulations.
