How to install the EHEIM thermocontrol e 300 heater?

Attach the suction bracket to the heater avoiding the heating zone and the indicator light. Place the heater vertically in a zone with strong water flow, below the indicated minimum water level. Use the suction cups to hold it against the inside wall of the aquarium.

What is the adjustable temperature range?

The adjustable temperature range is 20 to 32 °C (68 to 90 °F) with an accuracy of ±0.5 °C (±1.0 °F).

What to do if the heater does not heat?

First check that the device is properly plugged in and that the indicator light is on. If it does not light up, the thermal circuit breaker may have tripped due to overheating or lack of water. Let the device cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes before restarting it.

How to clean the heater?

Unplug the device and let it cool down in the water for 30 minutes. Then remove it and clean it under running water without using hard objects or aggressive cleaning agents. Do not put the device in the dishwasher.

Can I use the heater out of water?

No, the device must never operate out of water. It must be immersed at least up to the MIN WATER LEVEL mark. Dry running can damage the device and trigger the thermal circuit breaker.

How to adjust the temperature?

Turn the adjustment ring fully to the stop (20 °C or 68 °F), then set the desired temperature. The green indicator light turns on when the set temperature is reached. Check the water temperature regularly.

What does the green indicator light mean?

The green indicator light indicates that the device is powered on. When the set temperature is reached, the light remains green. If it does not light up, check the power supply and the thermal circuit breaker.

The heater stopped on its own, what to do?

This is probably due to the thermal circuit breaker that tripped in case of overheating or too low water level. Let the device cool down completely (at least 1 hour) in the water before restarting it. Make sure the water level is sufficient.

Can I replace the power cable?

No, the power cable is fixed and non-replaceable. If the cable is damaged, the device must be disposed of according to local electronic waste regulations.

Where to find spare parts?

DANGER - To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself. Return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.
If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source.
- Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
- Unplug the appliance from the socket outlet to disable any remote command.
- Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
- To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A "drip loop", shown in the figure, should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The "drip loop" is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug or socket does get wet, DON'T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.

• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• To avoid injury, do not touch moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs, and the like.
  Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.

Application

The EHEIM thermocontrol is an adjustable heater for aquariums. The temperature range is 20 - 32°C ±0.5°C or 68 - 90°F ±1.0°F.

The appliance and all parts included in the scope of delivery are intended for private use and must only be used indoors, exclusively for aquariums and in compliance with the technical data.

The appliance must not be used for commercial or industrial purposes.

For your safety

• Do not let the appliance packaging and small parts get into the hands of children or people who are unaware of how to handle them, as hazards can arise (danger of suffocation!). Keep away from animals.
  This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are under the supervision of someone responsible for their safety or have received instruction on usage of the appliance from said person. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- Before commissioning, the appliance must be immersed to the MIN. WATER LEVEL marking underneath the water, and no less. The appliance must never be operated out of water.
After disconnection from the mains, the appliance must be left in the water for 30 minutes in order to cool down.
A hot appliance must never be placed on heat-sensitive surfaces! Repairs must only be carried out by an EHEIM service centre.
The mains cable of this appliance cannot be replaced. If the cable is damaged, the appliance must be scrapped.
- Only carry out the work described in these instructions.
- Never make technical modifications to the appliance.
Only use original spare parts and accessories for the appliance.

We recommend protecting all electrical aquarium appliances via a residual current protective device with a rated residual current of 30mA maximum.
If they are not being used, always disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply before you install/remove any parts and before all cleaning and maintenance work.

• Protect the mains socket and mains plug against moisture and wetness. A drip loop must be formed with the mains cable.

This prevents any water running along the cable to the mains socket, which would result in a short-circuit.

The electrical data of the appliance must match

the data of the power mains. This data is found on the type plate, the packaging and in these instructions.

Danger of burning! The appliance is very hot during and directly after operation. Never touch hot parts or the heating zone!

Commissioning

Installing the heater (A)

1. Remove the transportation protection ⑤
2. Connect the suction device (2) to the suction device mount (1).
3. Connect the suction device mount to the heater (not in the area of the heating zone 4 and the control light 3).
4. Attach the appliance below water level on the inside of your aquarium (区C) . Take the minimum water level and maximum immersion depth into account.

The heater must be rinsed well in order to guarantee consistent water heating. Therefore, place the heater in an area with a strong flow.

• Only install the heater in a vertical position.

Operation

Switching the heater on/off

1. Insert the mains plug in the mains socket. The control light ③ illuminates.
2. To turn it off, remove the mains plug from the mains socket.

Setting the temperature

1. First, turn the adjusting ring (6) all the way back to the stop (20°C or 68°F).

2. Set the desired temperature by turning the adjusting ring. The control light ③ will illuminate red during the heating process. When the set temperature has been reached, the control light will illuminate green.

3. Check the water temperature at regular intervals.

Before you remove the heater

WARNING! Burning and fire hazards due to hot surfaces.

• Allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes before removing it.
  If you have accidentally removed the heater during operation:
• Do not submerge the heater back into the water.
• Do not touch any hot surfaces.
• Remove the mains plug and allow the heater to cool down for at least one hour on a heat-resistant base.

Thermal circuit breaker

The heater is equipped with a thermal circuit breaker as protection against overheating and any associated fire hazards. In the event of the heater being accidentally operated outside the water or when the water level is too low, it will be switched off. The heater will switch back on automatically after cooling down.

Maintenance

CAUTION! Material damage.

• Do not use hard objects or aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning.
  The appliance is not dishwasher-safe! Do not clean the appli- ance in the dishwasher.

Cleaning

1. Disconnect the heater from the power supply.
2. Allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes.
3. Take the appliance out of the aquarium.
4. Clean the heater under running water.
