Drilling wood and metal, screwing. Use the machine, charger and accessories (observe manufacturer's instructions) only for their intended applications! All other applications are expressly excluded.

The machine is intended only for use in the household.

5 - General safety instructions for handling power tools

CAUTION! Read all instructions carefully! Failure to adhere to the following instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term „power tool“ as used in the following refers to mains-powered power tools (with mains lead) and battery-powered power tools (without mains lead).

Meister Craft MAS 144 LIO - - General safety instructions for handling power tools - 1

CAUTION! Keep these instructions safe!

Workplace

  • Keep your work area clean and tidy. Untidy, unlit work areas may cause accidents.
  • Do not use the appliance in an explosive environment where there may be flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools generate sparks, which may ignite the dust or vapour.
  • Do not allow children and other persons near the power tool while it is in use. Distractions may cause you to lose control of the appliance.

Electrical safety

  • The mains plug of the appliance must fit the socket. The plug must not be altered in any way. Do not use adaptor plugs with protectively earthed appliances. Unaltered plugs and correctly fitting sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.

  • Avoid physical contact with earthed surfaces, such as pipes, heaters, cookers or refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock, if your body is earthed.

  • Keep the appliance away from rain and moisture. If water gets into an electrical appliance, there is an increased risk of electric shock.
  • Do not use the lead to carry the appliance, hang it up or unplug it from the socket. Keep the lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving appliance parts. Damaged or tangled leads increase the risk of electric shock.
  • If you use a power tool outdoors, use only extension leads which are approved for such use. The use of an extension lead approved for use outdoors reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

  • Keep alert, watch what you are doing and use the power tool sensibly. Do not use the appliance, if tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A split-second's inattentiveness while using the appliance may result in injuries.
  • Wear personal protective equipment and always wear safety goggles. Wearing personal protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety footwear, a safety helmet or ear protectors, depending on the kind of power tool and the use to which it is put, reduces the risk of injury.
  • Avoid starting the tool up accidentally. Make sure that the

switch is set to "OFF" before inserting the plug in the socket. If your finger is on the switch when carrying the appliance or you connect the appliance to the power supply while it is switched on, accidents may result.

  • Remove adjusting tools or spanners before switching on the appliance. Tools or spanners left in rotating parts of the appliance may cause injury.
  • Do not overestimate yourself. Make sure you are on a safe footing and always keep your balance. That way you can better control the appliance in unexpected situations.
  • Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair can get caught in moving parts.
  • If dust extracting and catching equipment is fitted, make sure that it is connected up and correctly used. Use of this equipment reduces dust hazards.

Careful handling and use of power tools

  • Do not overload the appliance. Use for your work the power tool intended for it. Using the correct power tool will enable you to work better and more safely in the specified power range.
  • Never use a power tool which has a defective switch. A power tool which cannot be switched on and off is dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Unplug the appliance from the mains before adjusting it, changing

attachments or putting it aside. This precaution ensures that the appliance will not be started accidentally.

  • Keep power tools out of the reach of children, when they are not in use. Do not permit persons to use the appliance, if they are not familiar with it or have not read these instructions. Power tools are dangerous, if used by inexperienced persons.
  • Look after the appliance properly. Check that moving parts are operating properly and are not sticking and that no parts are broken or so badly damaged as to prevent the appliance from operating properly. Have damaged parts repaired before using the appliance. Many accidents are caused by badly maintained power tools.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Carefully maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges jam less frequently and are easier to control.
  • Use power tools, accessories, attachments, etc., in accordance with these instructions and the specifications for an appliance of this particular type. Also take into consideration the working conditions and the work to be done. The use of power tools for any application other than those for which it is intended may result in dangerous situations.

Service

  • Have your appliance repaired only by qualified specialists and only with original spare parts. This way it is ensured that the appliance remains safe to use.

6 - Safety instructions relating specifically to the equipment

  • Use the machine, the accessories and the charger only for their intended applications!
  • Before drilling holes in a wall, use a cable detector to ensure that you do not hit a power cable or a gas or water pipe.
  • Before laying the electric screwdriver aside, ensure that all moving parts have come to a standstill.
  • Avoid frequent blocking when drilling, tightening or loosening screws.
  • Connect the charger only to a 230 V AC power supply.
  • Charge the screwdriver battery only with the charger supplied.
  • Protect the charger and the screwdriver from contact with moisture. Never immerse in water!
  • Do not use the charger in the open air.
  • To avoid damage to the batteries, never expose them to temperatures of over 40^ .

ATTENTION! Do not short-circuit the contacts of the battery or charger!

  • When charging, ensure that the device is correctly connected (+, + / - )
  • Do not attempt to burn the battery.

7 - Installation and setting

ATTENTION! The battery on your new power screwdriver has not been charged at the factory! Before using for the first time, therefore, it must be charged for about 3-5 hours! The full capacity of the battery is reached after 4 to 5 charging/ discharging cycles.

Lithium-ion battery technology

This new type of battery has decisive advantages over conventional Ni-Cd batteries:

  • No memory effect, i.e. regardless of its charge status the battery can be recharged at any time before or after use without loss of capacity.
  • Extremely low self-discharge, so it is ready for use even after longer storage periods.
  • Light in weight
  • Long service life

Charging the battery

Take the battery out (Fig. 1).

Place charger 1 (6) on the battery (fig. 2). Connect power pack for charger 2 (7) to a wall socket (230V) and put the charging plug (8) into the charger 1 (fig. 3).

During the charging process the light on battery charger 1 lights up in red. The end of the charging process is indicated by changing to green light.

The battery is protected against overcharging by a thermal cutout, the battery should nevertheless be removed

from the charger after charging. If the charger and battery become warm during charging, this is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.

Torque setting

The power screwdriver has a 24-level torque setting to protect the drill and bit holders or chuck from damage. By turning the knob on your screwdriver you can set it to the required speed, from 1 (light driving) to max. (heavy driving/drilling always select the correct torque for the work in hand.

8 - Operation

The chuck (1) fits all commercially available screwdriver and drilling bits with a diameter of up to 10mm . On tools which can rotate clockwise or counterclockwise the chuck is always mounted with a left-hand-thread bolt. Before the chuck is changed, this bolt must be undone through the chuck from the front. Left-hand-thread screws can be undone only by turning them clockwise. The tool has a quick-action chuck.

This enables attachments to be changed in manual operation quickly and without using a chuck key.

Switching ON and OFF is done by pressing and releasing the ON/OFF switch (3). During operation the working light (9) is on.

9 - Mode of operation

Electronic speed control

The electronic speed control (2) allows you to steplessly adapt the speed to the work in hand.

  • Switch (1) pressed lightly = low speed, for undoing tight screws.
  • Switch pressed right down = maximum possible speed, for drilling.

ATTENTION! Do not allow the motor to come to a stop while drilling or driving screws under load!

Left and right-hand rotation

The direction of rotation is set by means of the slide switch (4) above the operating switch.

Meister Craft MAS 144 LIO - Left and right-hand rotation - 1

PLEASE NOTE! Change direction of rotation only when the motor is stationary!

  • Inserting screws: Move switch to „R“.
  • Inserting screws: Move switch to „L“.
  • Safety position: Switch in middle position; when the slide switch is in this position, the tool cannot be started, e.g. during breaks in work or when changing drill or screwdriver bits.

10 - Maintenance and environmental protection

Clean the case only with a damp cloth - Do not use solvents! Then dry well. To maintain capacity, we recommend completely discharging and recharging the battery every two months. Store only fully charged batteries. They should therefore be recharged from time to time. The place of storage must be dry; the ambient temperature must not fall below 0^ or rise above 40^ .

ATTENTION! Take care of the environment! Do not throw used batteries into fire or water, as they may explode!

CAUTION! Unusable power tools do not belong with domestic waste. They must be taken to a communal collecting point for environmentally friendly disposal in accordance with local regulations.

Meister Craft MAS 144 LIO - - Maintenance and environmental protection - 1

Please discard power tools no longer usable at a local collection point. Collection and disposal of packaging materials separately by types complying with local rules and regulations. For details, please contact your municipal authority concerned.
