Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool. Work area
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. Personal safety
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
- Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
- Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off- position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. 5451610-Trockenbau-man 29.01.14 08:42 Seite 2425 Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
- Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
- Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
- If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards. Power tool use and care
- Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
- Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
- Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
- Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
- Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
- Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
- Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. Service
- Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. 5451610-Trockenbau-man 29.01.14 08:42 Seite 2526 6 – Safety instructions relating specifically to the equipment
- Wear eye and ear protectors.
- Before driving screws into a wall check – if possible, using a mains detector – that you are not driving screws into an electricity cable or a gas or water pipe.
- When operating the machine, avoid allowing the motor to stop under load.
- Select a speed that will not cause the screw tips to overheat.
- To avoid hazards, damaged power leads must be replaced by the manufacturer or his customer service representative. 7 – Installation and setting Tool changing Unplug the machine. To change the screwdriver blade, turn back the depth stop (6), change the tool and reset the depth stop. 8 – Operation Starting Press switch (1). The motor will start at a low speed. The speed will increase as the pressure on the switch is increased, until maximum preset speed is reached. Stopping Release switch. Starting – continuous operation Press switch (1), then press locking switch (4) and release all switches. Stopping – continuous operation Press switch (1): the locking switch (4) will automatically disengage and the machine will stop. Release switch (1): the machine will stop. CAUTION! The screwdriver shaft or inserted screwdriving tool will not start running until it is pressed against the work and will stop running as soon as the screwing operation is finished. As long the screwdriving tool is not in contact with the material, it is normal for it to stop running, even if the motor is still running. 9 – Mode of operation Preselecting speed Stop motor. For higher speed, turn switch (2) towards (+); for lower speed, turn it towards (– ). In this way speeds can be preset to suit material and screw size. The right speed can be found by trial and error. It is reached if the screw can be driven into the work without overheating. Forward/reverse rotation To screw in: set switch to position R To unscrew: set switch to position L Do not operate forward/ reverse switch while the motor is running. 5451610-Trockenbau-man 29.01.14 08:42 Seite 2627 Setting the depth stop/working with the machine To set precise screwing depth and avoid damaging the surfaces of the material to be screwed down, pull setting ring (7) forward as far as stop. Set screwing depth by turning setting ring
- towards (+) to increase screwing depth
- towards (–) to reduce screwing depth The screwing depth changes by 2 mm for each complete revolution of the tool. Pull setting ring back to the locking position. The required setting can be checked by trial and error. The screw is held in position by the magnetic bit fixture. Press screw tip firmly onto the material to be screwed down. Screw in until the depth stop (6) comes into contact with the surface of the material and the screwdriver spindle automatically disengages. To unscrew, set the reverse switch (3) to reverse rotation and turn the depth stop (6) away from the surface of the material. Belt holder During breaks in work the machine can be slung from the trouser belt by the belt holder (8). 10 – Maintenance and environmental protection Before maintaining or servicing the machine, always unplug it from the power supply. Clean the machine with a damp cloth (do not use solvents) and dry thoroughly. Keep air vents free from dust. Before using check the machine, cable and accessories for damage. Repairs must be carried out by a specialist. Unusable machines should be properly disposed of in accordance with local waste-disposal regulations. CAUTION! Electrical and battery operated units that no longer work should not be disposed of in the house - hold waste!
