1.1 Always follow the Instructions for Use
Please read the instructions carefully before using the appliance, and keep them in a safe place. If the appliance is handed over to a third party, these instructions should accompany it. Failure to comply with the instructions could result in serious personal injury or damage to the appliance. Important safety information beyond the contents of Chapter 1 is prominently marked, as below, and should be followed at all times in order to prevent accidents and damage to the appliance: WARNING Denotes information that must be followed in order to avoid serious personal injury or death. CAUTION Indicates information which must be followed in order to prevent damage to the appliance. HINT Presents hints and other useful information.
1.2 Danger to certain categories of persons
There is an increased risk of injury for children and for people with reduced capabilities:
- Children must not be permitted to operate the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from them.
- This juicer may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety, and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is in use.20
- If the juicer is not in use, always remove the power plug from the wall socket and store the appliance out of reach of children.
- Always remove the plug from the wall socket - when there is no supervision, - before assembling or disassembling the appliance, - before cleaning the appliance.
- Keep any packaging materials well away from children – they are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
This appliance must only be used for extracting juice from vegetables and fruit, and for preparing sorbets from deep-frozen fruit or vegetables. Any other use must be considered improper and may lead to personal injuries or material damage.
- The appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, eg in offi ces and similar locations. It is not suitable for commercial use, eg in commercial kitchens.
- The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
The device is powered by electricity, and so there is always a risk of electric shock. The following precautions are therefore to be taken:
- This appliance must only be connected to an earthed safety socket installed in accordance with the regulations.
- The appliance must only be connected to the mains if the voltage marked on the rating label corresponds to the supply voltage.
- Do not kink or pinch the power cord. Keep both the cord and the appliance itself well away from heat sources (eg hot-plates, gas fl ames).
- When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. Do not carry the unit by its power cord.21
- Do not immerse the motor unit in water or any other liquid, do not clean it under running water and do not put it in a dishwasher.
- Do not touch the plug with wet hands.
- Do not operate the unit outdoors.
- As long as it is connected to the mains, a current is present inside the unit, even if it is switched off. Always remove the plug from the wall socket after use.
- In the case of an emergency or malfunction, disconnect the appliance from the mains immediately. Ensure, therefore, that the plug the appliance is connected to is accessible and can be removed from the wall socket at any time.
- Always remove the plug from the wall socket before any cleaning or maintenance work is carried out.
- Do not attempt to open or dismantle the unit, and do not attempt to make any technical modifi cation.
There is a risk of serious injury from rotating parts:
- Do not wear long chains, earrings or clothes with long and/or wide sleeves, scarves or shawls, or long, loose hair when operating the appliance.
- Do not put fi ngers or hands into the feeder chute.
- Wait until all parts have come to a complete standstill, and remove the plug from the wall socket before opening the lid of the feeder chute.
- Always remove the plug from the wall socket when there is no supervision.
1.6 Food unsuitable for juice extraction
The following food items must not be processed:
- The juicer is not designed to process hot food. Only food not warmer than the ambient temperature can be processed.
- The juicer is not designed to process food containing very little juice, eg bananas.22
- The unit is not designed to extract juice from dry food, eg legumes (peas, beans etc), or coffee beans.
Lack of hygiene may result in germs forming inside the appliance:
- To prevent any dried-on food residues collecting inside the appliance, the motor unit and all its accessory parts must be thoroughly cleaned before it is used for the fi rst time, and also immediately after each cycle of use.
1.8 Danger of damage to the unit
Incorrect handling of the appliance can cause damage:
- Always place the unit on a dry, level, non-slip surface, which is impervious to contact with the rubber feet.
- Do not position the appliance on a hot surface or near any strong source of heat.
- Do not let the power cord hang free, or over the edge of a table.
- Do not use any cleaning agents or tools other than those specifi ed in the instructions to clean the unit.
- Do not operate the appliance for more than 15 minutes at a time, as there is a risk of overloading or overheating. Allow the unit to cool down for 30 minutes after each 15-minute cycle of use. It is then ready for use again.
1.9 In case of a defective appliance
A defective appliance can cause material damage and injury:
- Check the appliance for damage each time before use. If you notice any kind of damage, please contact the manufacturers or their customer service, or similarly qualifi ed personnel. No not operate the appliance if the motor unit or any of the accessory parts are defective.
- If the power cord of the unit shows any sign of damage, it must be replaced by the manufacturers or their customer service to avoid any danger.23
- If the micro sieve shows any sign of damage, the appliance must not be operated.
- The unit does not contain any components that you can service or repair yourself. Repairs must only carried out by SEVERIN Service (see ‘Customer service’ on page 194).24

4 Cleaning the juicer Clean the appliance before it is used for the fi rst time, and also immediately after each cycle of use. WARNING Risk of injury and damage to the appliance. – Never immerse the motor unit in water. WARNING Health risks due to unsuitable cleaning agents. – Only food-grade cleaning agents should be used for cleaning the individual components. CAUTION Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions or tools that night cause scratches to the surfaces. The individual components of the juicer are not dishwasher-safe.
1. Clean the motor unit with a damp cloth.
2. The micro sieve and the attachment for frozen
ingredients should be cleaned thoroughly under running water, inside and out, with the help of the cleaning brush bristles.
3. Clean the spiral juice extractor under running water.
If necessary, you can use the pointed end of the cleaning brush to remove stubborn pulp residue from the spiral juice extractor.
4. Clean the scraper under running water.
5. Remove any pulp residue from the bowl and then
clean it under running water.
6. The lid and pestle must be cleaned thoroughly
under running water.
7. The pulp and juice containers may be cleaned with
a little mild detergent and clean water. 5 Assembling the juicer
1. Place the motor unit on a fi rm, level surface,
ensuring that is fi rmly seated. HINT: The On/Off switch should face to the right.
2. Place the processing bowl onto the motor unit in
such a way that the left mark on the bowl is properly aligned against the corresponding arrow symbol on the motor unit.
Put the micro sieve into the scraper.
Put the scraper with the micro sieve into the bowl in such a way that the two arrows are aligned.27
5. Place the spiral juice extractor into the micro sieve
and turn it back and forth until it is fi rmly seated inside the rubber collar. HINT: The lid cannot be closed all the way unless the spiral juice extractor has been properly fi tted.
6. Place the lid on the bowl in such a way that the
arrow on the lid and the arrow on the motor unit are facing each other.
Turn the lid clockwise until it is heard locking into place. The rectangular symbol on the lid is now facing the arrow on the motor unit. The right-hand marking on the bowl is now above the arrow on the motor unit.
Connect the unit to the mains. Ü The appliance is now ready for juice extraction.28
6 Juice extraction CAUTION Do not try to extract juice from items with a very low water content, such as bananas, dried fruit or legumes; this will cause damage to the unit.
1. Peel the fruit or vegetable, unless you intend to
extract juice from the peel.
2. Cut the ingredients for the juice into cubes small
enough to fi t through the feeder chute (about 2.5 cm in size).
3. Remove any hard stones or pips from the fruit. Do
not attempt to extract juice from them.
4. Place the plug into an earthed safety wall outlet.
6. Place the juice container under the juice outlet.
7. Use the On/Off switch to turn the unit on.
8. Feed the ingredients down the feeder chute.
WARNING Risk of injury – Do not use the fi ngers to push the food into the appliance.
9. Always use the pestle to push the food down the
feeder chute. HINT: Should any ingredients become stuck, set the On/Off switch to its ‚R‘ position (reverse operation) to clear the blockage.
10. Once all the ingredients have been processed, use
the On/Off switch to turn the appliance off.
11. Remove the plug from the wall socket.
12. The appliance should be cleaned immediately after
use, see Cleaning the juicer on page 26. 7 Preparing iced desserts/ sorbet CAUTION Iced desserts/sorbet can only be made from deep-frozen fruit or vegetables. Otherwise there is a risk of damage to the unit.
1. Allow the frozen food to thaw slightly before it is
processed. WARNING Health risk – Do not process any ingredients that have been previously defrosted, but have then been deep-frozen again. – The ingredients should be processed immediately after the outside is slightly thawed.
2. Assemble the juicer using the attachment for frozen
ingredients instead of the scraper and micro sieve, as described in the section Assembling the juicer on page 26.
3. Place the juice container under the juice outlet.
4. Use the On/Off switch to turn the unit on.
5. Feed the ingredients down the feeder chute.
WARNING Risk of injury – Do not use the fi ngers to push the food into the appliance.
6. Always use the pestle to push the food down the
feeder chute. HINT: Should any ingredients become stuck, set the On/Off switch to its ‚R‘ position (reverse operation) to clear the blockage.
7. Once all the ingredients have been processed, use
the On/Off switch to turn the appliance off.
8. Remove the plug from the wall socket.29
9. The appliance should be cleaned immediately after
use, see Cleaning the juicer on page 26. 8 Disassembling the juicer
1. Disconnect the unit from the mains.
2. To open the lid, turn it anti-clockwise until the arrow
on the lid is aligned with the arrow on the motor unit.
3. Take off the lid.
4. Remove the bowl from the motor unit.
5. Remove the scraper (with the micro sieve) and the
spiral juice extractor from the bowl; it may have to be turned slightly.
6. Separate the scraper from the micro sieve.
7. Remove the spiral juice extractor from the micro
sieve, turning it back and forth if necessary. Ü The individual components of the juicer can now be cleaned separately (see Cleaning the juicer on page 26).30

10.1 Solving problems yourself
WARNING Risk of injury. The unit does not contain any components that you can service or repair yourself. – Never use a defective appliance. – Do not attempt to carry out any repair work yourself. If a defect is found, contact our Customer Service Department (see Customer service on page 194). Before you contact our Customer Service or send the appliance in, please use the following table to check whether the problem can be solved at home. Problem Cause Remedy The appliance does not operate. The power plug is not inserted/ the unit is not connected to the mains. Insert the plug into the wall outlet. The unit has not been correctly assembled. Assemble the unit as described in Assembling the juicer on page 26. The lid must be heard locking into place; only then is the juicer assembled correctly. The appliance stops suddenly. Some ingredients have become stuck. Set the On/Off switch to its ‚R‘ position. The spiral juice extractor reverses its direction and the blockage is cleared. The lid has become loose. Try to close the lid again fi rmly, until it locks into place. The pulp outlet is blocked. Use the On/Off switch to turn the unit off. Remove the plug from the wall socket and use the blunt end of the cleaning brush to remove the blockage in the pulp outlet. The unit is overloaded, the overload protection has been activated. Press the Reset button to reset the overload protection feature. Turn the unit off. Wait for 30 minutes, until the motor unit has cooled down suffi ciently. The motor unit becomes hot. The appliance has been operated for too long. Turn the unit off. Remove the plug from the wall socket. Wait for 30 minutes, until the motor unit has cooled down suffi ciently. 10.2 Accessories and spare
Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter. 11 Guarantee SEVERIN offers a guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to an authorised service centre. The guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modifi ed, repaired or interfered with by any person or entity not authorised by SEVERIN, and has not been damaged through misuse. This guarantee does not of course cover normal wear and tear, nor breakable items such as glass or ceramic fi ttings, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, or any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods.
