Protection against overheating
This appliance is equipped with a safety device which prevents sealing of the bag or receptacle if the unit overheats. The automatic thermal protection system will be activated for example:
- Extreme ambient conditions (e.g. 35^ (95^) and / or 10% extra voltage If the thermal protection system is activated, wait 30 minutes until the appliance has cooled before starting again allowing the protection system to be re-established.
4. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Adjustment
Before using it for the first time, make sure that the vacuum chamber and the appliance parts which come into contact with the food are clean. Follow the cleaning instructions
in the "5. Maintenance and Cleaning" section.
How to dismantle the vacuum chamber
- Move the chamber extraction lever (L) as shown in Fig. 2. Raise the left side of the vacuum chamber and pull it all out (Figure 3).
- To refit the vacuum chamber (I), fit the right side into the right side of the coupling (Figure 4). Make sure that the suction nozzle (a) fits into the corresponding hole in the chamber and that the chamber's positioning tab (b) is inserted into its corresponding groove.
- Press the left side into the coupling until the lever (L) clicks (Figure 5).
Vacuum packing
- Put the appliance in a dry place. Make sure that the work area in front of the appliance is obstacle free and is wide enough for the food bags. Plug it in and press the "ON/OFF" switch (K); the green light will come on.
- Make sure that the bag you want to use is at least 8 cm (3.1 in.) longer than the food. If you want to reuse the bag, you must take into account that you will need 2 cm more (0.8 in.) each time you want to reuse it.
- Raise the cover (F) and place the food inside the bag, taking care not to cause wrinkles or tension on the surface. Remove the liquids or the residue from the food inside the bag which is about to be sealed. Put the bag with its contents in front of the machine positioning it inside the vacuum chamber (I) (Figure 6).
- Lower the cover (F) completely and press it down for a few seconds (Figure 7). The yellow light (C) flashes whilst the unit is working. The vacuum cycle is now in progress. During the sealing phase, the red light (E) will also flash. When the bag has been sealed the two lights will go out. Now press the vacuum button (A) and let air enter the pneumatic circuit (Figure 8). Raise the cover and remove the bag with the end sealed.
- If you need to interrupt the vacuum operation (e.g. the bag is not fitted
correctly) first press the "Stop" button (B) and then the vacuum button (A).
- Check the appearance of the sealed bag; it should have a tape along the sealing and no wrinkles; if not, the sealing is possibly not complete.
Recommendation: If the food you are sealing have sharp edges, such as bones, spaghetti or seafood, put kitchen paper around these edges to avoid them ripping the bag.
Information on the bags
This appliance can use bags available on the market which are suitable for vacuum packing. However, Fagor only guarantees correct functioning of the appliance with the bags and accessories in its own range.
Fagor bags can be reused, they are suitable for the microwave and freezer and they can be boiled.
Before reusing a bag, wash it first as indicated in "Maintenance and Cleaning"
Vacuum adjustment function
You can remove the bag with the vacuum level of your choice. Follow normal operations according to what was described above to create the vacuum inside the bags. During the operation, whilst the yellow light (C) is flashing, briefly press the "Stop" button (B). The red light (E) will come on, meaning that the sealing bar has been activated. When sealing is completed, the unit automatically finishes its work cycle.
5. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Cleaning
- Wash your hands before cleaning the machine and its accessories.
- Make sure the unit is unplugged before cleaning it.
- Clean the outer surfaces of the appliance with a damp cloth (no detergent) before and after use.
- Do not use detergents or abrasive products to clean the appliance
- Do not submerge the appliance in water to clean it
- The vacuum chamber can be cleaned under a running tap or in the dishwasher
(Figure 9). To dismantle the chamber see "How to dismantle the vacuum chamber"
Warning: Make sure the unit is unplugged before cleaning it. If liquid is spilt accidentally in any part of the unit, do not plug it in or try to reuse it. Contact the authorised technical service or supplier.
Re-using Fagor bags
If you want to re-use a used Fagor bag, firstly you must clean it using neutral soap and leave it to dry completely before using it again. They can also be washed in the dishwasher.
Maintenance
With use, the upper (H) and lower (M) closing seals deteriorate and need to be replaced with new seals.
From time to time, turn the seal over. Dismantle the seal and fit it upside down (Fig. 10)
6. TROUBLE SHOOTING
Here are the steps to follow if you experience problems with the product.
The appliance does not work.
- Make sure that the unit is plugged in correctly. Check the electrical socket by plugging in another appliance.
- Check that the "ON/OFF" switch (K) has been pressed correctly. The green light (D) must come on.
- If the unit has overheated, sealing is interrupted automatically. Let it cool for 30 minutes and try again.
- Check if the cable or plug is damaged. If so, do not try to work it again.
The unit does not create a complete vacuum inside the bags
- The open end of the bag should remain completely inside the vacuum chamber coupling.
- Check for impurities in the sealing seals and the seals. Clean them and put them back in the correct position.
- Turn the useful side of the lower seal over by turning it.
- The bag could have a hole in it. To check this, seal the bag with some air inside,
submerge the bag in water and squeeze it.
Bubbles will indicate that there is a leak.
Seal it again or use another bag
The bags have not sealed correctly
- The cause could be the sealing bar overheating or the bag has melted. Open the cover and let the sealing bar cool for several minutes.
The bag did not maintain the vacuum after being sealed
-
This can be caused by a leak due to wrinkles, crumbs, fat or liquid. Open the bag, clean the upper part and remove any foreign matter from the sealing bar before trying to seal it again.
-
Make sure that the bag does not have any holes. If the food to be sealed has sharp edges, first cover it with serviettes or kitchen paper.
7. DURATION OF VACUUM PACKED FOOD
Vacuum packing processes prolong the life of food by eliminating most of the air in the sealed receptacle, thereby reducing oxidation which affects the nutritional value, their flavour and above all the quality. Expelling air also inhibits proliferation of micro-organisms Below is a list of the storage times for vacuum packed foods. 8. INFORMATION FOR THE CORRECT DISPOSAL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES

At the end of its working life, the product must not be disposed of as urban waste. It must be taken to a special local authority differentiated waste collection centre or to
a dealer providing this service. Disposing of a household appliance separately avoids possible negative consequences for the environment and health deriving from inappropriate disposal and enables the constituent materials to be recovered to obtain significant savings in energy and resources.
To remind you that you must collaborate with a selective collection scheme, the symbol shown appears on the product warning you not to dispose of it in traditional refuse containers.
For further information, contact your local authority or the shop where you bought the product.
