The BOSCH Serie 8 VarioComfort TDS8060DE iron has an automated descaling function called "Calc'nClean". A "Calc'nClean" indicator light (3) flashes and three beeps sound to alert you that descaling is necessary. You can continue ironing, but you must perform the descaling process before the next use, when the device is cold.

Descaling the boiler:

Ensure the device is cold and unplugged.
Empty the water tank.
Remove the iron from the iron rest.
Unscrew and remove the boiler cap (9) and empty it completely.
Fill the boiler with about 300 ml of tap water, close the cap, and shake the base for a few moments, then empty completely. Repeat this process twice for better results.
If your device has a limescale filter (9*), rinse it under tap water until the limescale residues disappear.
Replace and tighten the cap.

Descaling the iron:

Fill the tank (10) with tap water and plug in the device.
Press the power button (2).
Press the descaling button (3) for 2 seconds. Its indicator light stays on.
Wait until the indicator light (2) stops flashing and stays on. Two beeps will sound.
Hold the iron horizontally above an empty sink to collect the water. If your device has a "Calc'nClean" collection tank (18*), place the iron above it.
Press the steam release button (14) for 2 seconds. The process starts automatically. Boiling water and steam will escape from the soleplate, containing limescale and deposits. Beeps will sound every 5 seconds.
After about 3 minutes, the iron stops emitting steam and a long beep indicates the end of the process. The device will turn off automatically.
