General safety instructions
Important!
- Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future reference.
- This appliance complies with international safety standards.
- Before using for the first time, check if the voltage rating on the type plate corresponds to the mains voltage in your home. This appliance must be connected to an earthed socket.
- If it is absolutely necessary to use an extension cable, make sure that it is suitable for 10 A or more and has a socket with an earth connection.
- This appliance must only be used for the purposes it was designed, i.e. as an iron. Any other use will be considered as improper and consequently dangerous. The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any damage arising from misuse or improper use.
- The electrical plug must not be removed from the socket by pulling the cable.
- Do not leave the appliance exposed to weather conditions (rain, sun, frost, etc).
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is plugged in.
- Keep the appliance out of children's reach.
- This appliance is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Remove the plug from the socket before filling the appliance with water or before pouring out the remaining water after use.
- Never immerse the iron or the station in water or any other fluid.
- The appliance must never be placed under the tap to fill with water.
- When you have finished ironing, and also when leaving the iron even for a short while:
- set variable temperature dial to minimum.
- switch the main switch to the -off-position.
- place the iron on its support on the appliance.
- remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
- Some parts of the iron have been slightly greased and as a result the iron may smell slightly when switched on for the first time. After a short while, however, this will cease.
- Before using the iron for the first time remove any sticker or protective foil from the soleplate. Clean the soleplate with a soft cloth.
- Do not put vinegar or other descaling agents into the water tank.

- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
- When turned on for the first time, your new iron may smell for up to 10 minutes. This is due to the initial heating of the used materials. The odor is safe and should not reoccur after initial heating. Moreover, the iron may emit some small particles from the steam holes. This is normal and will not occur after several times using the "steam" function.
- Do not aim iron at other persons or towards yourself, while using the "steam" function.
- The filling lid must not be opened during use.
- The appliance must be used and placed on a stable surface.
- When placed in a support, make sure that the surface on which the support stands is stable.
- The iron should not be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it is leaking water. It must be checked by an authorized Technical Service Centre before it can be used again.
- Do not allow the mains cord and the supply hose to come into contact with the soleplate when it is hot.
- Caution: The steam hose, base station and in particular the iron can get very hot when used!!

- Open the water inlet lid (9).
- Use the provided beaker to fill the tank with water.
- Fill the tank with water until the MAX mark.
Important
- Normal tap water can be used. If the water in your region is very hard, we advise you to mix it with an equal amount of distilled or demineralised water. This will prolong the optimal steam function of the steam station. You can inquire about the water hardness with your local water supplier.
- Never use distilled water exclusively.
- To avoid any damage and/or contamination of the system, do not put any perfume, vinegar, starch, or other type of chemical into the water tank.
- Do not use condensation water from tumble dryers, fridges or the like.
E) Setting the temperature
- Check the ironing instruction label on the garment to determine the correct ironing temperature.
- Place the iron on the iron stand (16).
- Insert the mains plug into the mains supply and then set the main switch (4) either to the DRY IRON ▶ STEAM IRON position.
- Select the right temperature on the iron by rotating the temperature dial (12).
- Synthetics
- Silk/Wool ••• Cotton / Linen
- The steam function ready light will flash during heating up taking approximately 2 – 3 minutes. (For first time use, the pre-heating time can be 4 minutes.)
Tips:
- Sort your garments out based on their cleaning symbol labels. Always start ironing with clothes
that have to be ironed at the lowest temperatures.
- If you are not sure what the garment is made of, then begin ironing at a low temperature and decide on the right temperature by ironing a small section not usually seen when worn.
F) Ironing with Steam
- Make sure that there is enough water in the appliance.
- Turn the temperature dial (12) to the steam position between •• and MAX.
(If a too low temperature has been selected and the steam function is used water may leak from the soleplate)
- Place the iron on the iron stand (16).
- Insert the mains plug into the wall socket.
- Turn the main switch (4) to steam position.
- The "steam ready" pilot light (1) will be continuously on after the boiler/iron reaches the desired temperature.

- Hold the steam release button (11) for steam production during ironing in horizontal position or freshen up garments in vertical position.
For models with cork handle only:
For permanent steam press the lock button (14) and slide it backwards until it locks. To switch off the permanent steam, slide the lock button forward.
Note:
- The “Water empty” pilot light (2) will flash when the water tank is empty or when the water level is too low. Refill the tank if the steam function is needed. (see D)
Important
- The steam hose may get hot if you are ironing for a long time.
- While the steam release button is pressed, the appliance may produce a pumping sound. This is normal, indicating that water is pumped into the steam boiler inside the housing.
G) Vertical steam feature
- Set the temperature dial (12) to the position ••• or MAX.
- You can steam curtains and hanging garments by holding the iron in a vertical position and pressing the steam release button (11).
- Operate the iron at a distance of 10 to 20 cm.
Caution:
The steam is very hot. Never direct the steam towards a person.
H) Ironing without steam
- Turn the main switch (4) to the position to iron without steam. The boiler will not be activated.
- Ironing without steam is also possible in the position if the steam release button (11) is not pushed. In this case the boiler is activated.
Additional features
(Depending on the model)
I) Automatic cable rewind
TDS1536
For easy storage, your ironing station is fitted with automatic cable rewind.
- Pull the plug and extract the length of cable required. The cable locks automatically.
- Do not try to extract the cable beyond the red mark at the end of the cable.
- To wind up the cable, press the rewind button.
J) Fabric-protection soleplate cover
The fabric-protection soleplate cover is used for steam-ironing delicate garments at maximum temperature without damaging them. Use of the soleplate cover also does away with the need for a cloth to prevent shine on dark materials.
It is advisable to first iron a small section on the inside of the garment to see if it is suitable.
To attach the soleplate cover to the iron, place the tip of the iron into the end of the soleplate cover and pull the elastic strap over the lower rear of the iron until it fits tightly. To release the soleplate cover, pull the elastic strap and remove the iron.
The fabric-protection soleplate cover may be purchased from the customer service or specialist shops.

Do not use descaling agents for rinsing out the boiler, as they could damage it.
- Allow the appliance to cool down.
- Turn the appliance upside down.
- Remove the plastic cover of the boiler plug (5) using a screwdriver or coin. Then remove the boiler plug underneath (6). (See picture K).
- Use a funnel to introduce 1/4 liter of water inside the boiler for rinsing.
- Shake the appliance lightly to loosen scale deposits and pour the water into a sink.
M) Storing the appliance
- Always allow the appliance to cool down before storing!
- Set the main switch (4) to the OFF position and unplug the mains cord.
- Pour any remaining water out of the water tank. (See picture M).
- Store the mains cable by pushing it into the cord storage compartment (8). Store the plug by inserting it into the cavities next to the compartment. For models with cable rewind, please read section I.
- If the appliance is not used for a longer time, empty also the steam boiler by opening the plug at the bottom (6) of the appliance (See picture L).
