Before connecting the tool, always check that the switch trigger works properly and returns to the

'off' position when released. Do not push the switch trigger hard without pressing the lock button. This may damage the switch. Using a tool with a switch that does not actuate properly can lead to loss of control and serious injury.

7. Connection to mains

Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, make sure that the supply voltage corresponds to the value given on the rating plate. The supply installation should be made in accordance with the essential requirements for electrical installations and meet the safety requirements for use. The parameters for the minimum cross-section of the supply cable and the nominal value of the fuse depending on the power of the appliance are given in the table below:

Rated power [W]Minimum conductor cross-section [mm2]Minimum value of type C fuse [A]
1400÷23001,516

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. When using extension cords, ensure that the cable cross-section is not smaller than required (see table). Arrange the electrical cable so that it is not at risk of being cut during operation. Do not use damaged extension cords. Check the condition of the power cable periodically. Do not pull on the power cord.

8. Switching on the device

DEDRA DED7772 - Switching on the device - 1

Before starting up the unit, it is essential to carry out the steps described in the section 'Preparing

for operation'.

The device, has an on/off switch lock button to prevent accidental activation.

Switching on

- Press switch lock button.(Fig. A, 12)

- Press the switch button.(Fig. A, 11)

When the circular saw reaches its rated speed, press the head down and make the cut. Once the material is cut, release the main switch button but do not reduce pressure on the handle.

Switching off

- Release the pressure on the switch button.

- Once the circular saw has come to a complete stop, you can lift the head.

9. Operation of the device

DEDRA DED7772 - Operation of the device - 1

Do not stay in the cutting plane while working. Use additional supports whenever necessary due

to the dimensions of the workpiece.

Before use, release the handle from its lowered position by pulling on the stop pin.

Do not exert excessive pressure on the handle during cutting. Excessive force may overload the motor and/or reduce cutting performance. Only apply as much force to the handle as is necessary for smooth cutting without significantly reducing blade speed. Gently press the handle to make the cut. If the handle is pressed with a lot of force or a lateral force is applied, the blade will vibrate and leave a mark (saw mark) in the workpiece and the cutting precision will be worse.

When sliding cutting, gently push the carriage towards the guide without stopping. Stopping the movement of the carriage during cutting will leave a mark on the workpiece and compromise cutting precision.

Before switching on the switch, ensure that the disc is not in contact with the workpiece, etc. Switching on the tool with the disc in contact with the workpiece can cause kickback and serious injury.

Press-on cutting (cutting small parts)

- Completely press the carriage against the guide and tighten the locking screw clockwise to secure the carriage.

- Properly clamp the workpiece with the appropriate type of vise.

- Switch on the tool without the disc making contact with the ground and wait for the disc to reach full speed before lowering.

- Then gently lower the handle to the fully lowered position to cut the workpiece.

- When the cut is complete, switch off the tool and wait for the disc to come to a complete stop before returning to the fully raised position.

DEDRA DED7772 - Press-on cutting (cutting small parts) - 1

Tighten the knob clockwise firmly so that the carriage does not move during operation.

Failure to tighten the knob sufficiently can result in recoil, which can lead to serious injury.

Sliding (push) cutting (cutting wide workpieces)

- Loosen the locking screw counterclockwise so that the carriage can move freely.

- Secure the workpiece with a suitable type of vise.

- Pull the carriage fully towards you.

- Switch on the tool without making contact with the blade and wait until the blade reaches full speed.

- Press the handle down and push the handlebar towards the guide, pass through the workpiece.

- Once the cut is complete, switch off the tool and wait for the blade to come to a complete stop before returning the blade to its fully raised position.

WARNING When making a sliding cut, first pull the carriage towards you and push the handle all the way in, then push the carriage towards the guide. Never start a cut when the carriage is not fully pulled towards you. If a cut is made without the carriage being fully pulled towards you, unexpected recoil and serious injury may result.

  • Never attempt to make a sliding cut by pulling the carriage towards you. Pulling the carriage towards you while cutting can cause unexpected recoil, resulting in serious injury.
  • Never make a slide cut with the handle locked in the lowered position.
  • Never loosen the locking screw that secures the carriage when the blade is rotating. A loose carriage during cutting can cause unexpected kickback and consequent serious injury.

Diagonal cut

See the previously described section 'Adjusting the bevel angle'.

  • Loosen the lever and tilt the discs to set the bevel angle (see section 'Adjusting the bevel angle' described earlier). Tighten the lever securely to set the chosen bevel angle.
  • Secure the workpiece with a vise. Ensure that the carriage is fully retracted towards the operator.
  • Switch on the tool without making contact with the blade and wait until the blade has reached full speed.
  • Then gently lower the handle to the fully retracted position, applying pressure parallel to the disc and press the carriage against the guide to cut the workpiece.
  • When the cut is complete, switch off the tool and wait for the disc to come to a complete stop before returning to the fully raised position.

Once the bevel cutting disc has been set up, ensure that the carriage and disc are free to move throughout the intended cut before starting the tool. Interrupting the movement of the carriage or disc during cutting can cause kickback and serious injury.

  • Keep hands away from the disc when making a bevel cut. The angle of the disc can confuse the operator as to the actual path of the disc when cutting, and contact with the disc can cause serious injury.
  • The disc should not be lifted until it has come to a complete stop. When cutting diagonally, the cut piece may lean against the disc. If the disc is lifted while it is rotating, the cut-off piece may be ejected, causing fragmentation of the material, which may result in serious injury.

When applying pressure to the handle, apply pressure parallel to the blade. If the force is applied perpendicular to the rotating base or if the direction of pressure is changed during cutting, the precision of the cut will deteriorate.

It may be necessary to adjust the guide bar before cutting diagonally. See the section entitled 'Adjusting the guide bar'.

When making mitre cuts, always remove the guide fence so that it does not interfere with any part of the carriage.

Compound cut

Compound cutting is a process in which the bevel angle is made at the same time as the bevel angle is cut on the workpiece. A compound cut can be made at the angles shown in the table.

Chamfer angleBevel angle
Left and right 0 - 45Left and right 0^ - 45^

When carrying out a compound cut, refer to the explanations 'Squeeze cut', 'Slide cut', 'Slash cut' and 'Diagonal cut'.

10. Ongoing maintenance

DEDRA DED7772 - Ongoing maintenance - 1

All maintenance must be carried out with the unit unplugged.
