Information on noise

Noise emissions were determined in accordance with the standard EN 19432-1 and values are given in the table above.

DEDRA DED8836 - Information on noise - 1

Noise can cause hearing damage, always wear hearing protection when working!

The declared total vibration/noise value has been measured according to a standard test method and can be used to compare one device with another. The stated vibration/noise level can also be used for a preliminary vibration/noise exposure assessment.

Vibration/noise levels during actual use of the equipment may differ from the declared values, depending on the use of the work tools, in particular the type of workpiece and the need to determine operator protection measures. In order to accurately estimate exposure in actual use conditions, all parts of the work cycle must be taken into account, including periods when the machine is switched off or when it is switched on but not used for work.

6. Preparing for use

Initial settings

Caution: all setting operations must be carried out with the engine switched off and the spark plug disconnected. Always wear protective gloves.

Do not start the unit until all preliminary steps have been completed. Use a universal spanner, ampoule spanner and carburettor adjustment screwdriver to carry out the preliminary work.

Place the unit on a flat, level surface.

The assembly of the disc is shown in diagram #2 (in the order of ring, cutting disc (note the direction of rotation of the disc, marked on the body), ring (note: with undercut on the outside), washer, M10 x 20 screw). For a disc with a 25.4 mm hole, the installation method is shown in diagram #1 (in the order of ring #2 (note: with undercut on the outside), cutting disc (note the direction of disc rotation, marked on the body), ring #1, small ring, M10 x 20 screw).

Removing the cutting disc.

Insert the ampoule spanner into the centre hole in the belt guard. The disc will be immobilised. Loosen the M10 x 20 screw and remove the cutting disc.

Fuel

Notes: Take special care when transporting fuel. Do not smoke. Do not keep fuel near sources of open flame or sparks (risk of fire).

Fuel mixture

The machine is equipped with an air-cooled two-stroke engine running on a mixture of petrol and oil. The engine is suitable for petrol with an octane number of 89. If such a fuel is not available, a higher octane number can be used. This will not affect the efficiency of the engine.

Use only unleaded petrol.

To lubricate the engine, add oil dedicated to two-stroke mixtures to the petrol. For thorough lubrication, use a ratio of 25:1 (25 parts petrol, 1 part oil) during the first 10 hours of operation. After this time, a fuel mixture composition of 40:1 (40 parts petrol, 1 part oil) can be used.

When preparing the mixture, add half the amount of petrol to the oil, mix and add the rest of the petrol. Mix the mixture thoroughly before pouring it into the equipment tank.

Caution: due to the increased pressure in the tank, carefully unscrew the fuel filler cap.

Note: after pre-lubricating the engine with a 25:1 mix, use a 40:1 mix.

Adding more oil will result in more exhaust emissions, which has an adverse effect on the environment. In addition, fuel consumption increases and engine performance decreases.

Fuel storage

Fuel has a limited shelf life. Fuel and fuel mixture ages due to evaporation, especially at higher temperatures. Old fuel and fuel mixture can cause problems when starting the engine and lead to engine damage. Only purchase the amount of fuel that will be used within the next few months. In higher temperatures, the fuel storage period should not be longer than 6-8 weeks. Store fuel only in containers intended for this purpose, in dry, cool and safe places.

Caution: avoid contact of fuel with skin and eyes.

Mineral oils degrease the skin. If the skin repeatedly comes into contact with oil, this can lead to dryness and injury to the skin. In addition, an allergic reaction may occur. If oil comes into contact with the eyes, irritation may occur. If oil gets into the eyes, immediately flush the eyes with water. If irritation persists, it is imperative to consult a doctor.

Filling the tank with fuel

Note: Follow the safety rules.

Carry fuel with care and attention. The engine must be switched off and cooled down when filling the tank with fuel. Thoroughly clean the fuel filler and the filling end of the fuel tank to remove any debris that could enter the tank. Place the unit on a flat, level surface. Unscrew the fuel filler cap and carefully pour the fuel into the appliance tank. Avoid spilling fuel. Seal the fuel filler cap tightly.

Wipe the fuel filler cap after filling the tank. Never start the appliance in the same place where fuel was poured. If fuel has got onto clothing, change clothes immediately.

7. Switching on the device

DEDRA DED8836 - Switching on the device - 1

Before starting up the unit, it is essential to carry out the steps described in the section 'Preparing

for operation'.

Starting the engine (Fig. C)

Familiarise yourself with the safety rules before starting the motor. Start the engine only after complete assembly and inspection of the unit. Start the unit at a distance of not less than 3 metres from the refuelling point. Stand firmly on a flat surface. Ensure that the cutting disc is not in contact with the surface and is not in contact with any object. With the switch set to the "off" position, position the blade guard. Try to position the guard so as to protect the operator as much as possible from bouncing fragments of the material being cut. A water hose is fitted to the guard. The water line should be connected to the water system or a suitable pressurised tank. You can adjust the speed of the water flow by turning the adjustment screws on the blade guard.

Cold start

Grip the front handle firmly and securely, pressing the device to the ground. Press the appliance to the ground with your left foot (placing your foot on the back handle). Turn the switch to the ON (I) position. Pull back the suction lever, then pull the tug handle in a smooth motion. Allow the jerk handle to return freely. Repeat 4-5 times until the engine starts to startle. Press the suction button and pull the jerk handle until the engine starts.

Warm start

Grip the front handle firmly and securely, pressing the device to the ground. Press the appliance to the ground with your left foot (placing your foot on the back handle). Turn the switch to the ON (I) position. Pull the jerk handle in a smooth motion. Allow the jerk handle to return freely. Repeat 2-3 times until the engine starts. If the engine does not start, use the cold starting method.

Note: if the engine has been off for a short time, there is no need to pull back the suction lever.

Stopping the engine

Release the throttle button and then switch the switch to the O position.

Carburettor adjustment

The machine's factory settings allow a spindle speed of approximately 5100 rpm, but it may be necessary to change the settings during operation. Adjustment can only be carried out by an authorised service.

Accessories

Cutting disc: the diamond-coated disc offers the highest safety, ease of operation and cutting performance. Diamond-coated discs can be used to cut any material except metal. The high resistance ensures low wear and minimal changes in disc diameter, resulting in a long service life. The use of diamond grit ensures a high cutting quality. The metal body of the disc ensures rigidity and minimum vibration during cutting.

The use of diamond-coated discs significantly reduces cutting times. This translates into lower labour costs (lower fuel consumption, shorter cutting time, resulting in service savings, less wear and tear on parts, etc.).

Pressure vessels

Wet cutting should be used to minimise the appearance of dust during operation and to increase cutting performance. It is possible to connect the hose to the mains water supply or use a water pressure tank.

8. Operation of the device

DEDRA DED8836 - Operation of the device - 1

When operating the device, all safety rules and instructions described in the safety conditions observed..

Caution: always wear respiratory protection.

Materials that may emit hazardous substances may only be cut after notification to and under the control of persons authorised or designated to do so.

Caution: when a disc rotating at high speed comes into contact with the metal being cut, the metal heats up and melts at the point of contact. Adjust the guard so that any sparks that occur are not directed towards the operator (risk of fire).

Mark the cutting line on the material, make the initial cut at medium speed and make the guide groove, then make the cut at full speed with full pressure on the machine. Keep the cutting line straight. The cutting disc should be in a vertical position. Do not bend the disc, this may cause it to break. The most efficient cutting is achieved when the machine is moved back and forth while cutting. Do not push the machine with all your might.

Thick circular material is best cut in stages. Thin pipes can be cut in a single cut. Cut large diameter pipes as for round material. To avoid bending the blade and to improve control of the cut, do not make one deep cut, but cut shallow material around the entire piece.

Used discs have a smaller diameter than new discs. Therefore, at the same speed, they have a lower peripheral speed, which can reduce cutting performance.

Cut I-beams and L-bars in stages.

Cut bands and plates like pipes: along the wide side with a long cut.

When cutting material under tension (supported material or material in structures), always make a cut on the pressure (pressure) side and then make a cut on the tension side so that the disc does not jam during cutting. Secure the cut material to prevent it from falling. Note: if material can be cut under tension, be prepared for recoil to occur Ensure that there is room in the working area for an adequate response. Take special care when working on rubbish dumps, areas with residual metal parts, etc. Unsecurely positioned or stressed objects may behave in an uncontrolled manner. Secure material against falling. Exercise a high degree of caution and only use equipment and accessories in very good condition. Familiarise yourself with the accident prevention rules provided by your employer and/or insurance organisations.

Cutting masonry and concrete (Fig. D, E)

Caution: always wear suitable respiratory protection!

Asbestos and other materials which emit hazardous substances may only be cut after the relevant services have been notified and under the supervision of these services or persons designated by them. When cutting pressed or reinforced components, follow the instructions of the relevant authorised bodies or persons involved in the construction of the components to be cut.

Reinforcing bars must be cut in appropriately described sequences while observing safety rules.

Please note: mortar, stone and concrete cause a lot of dust during cutting. To increase the service life of the cutting disc and to improve visibility during cutting, we recommend using wet cutting instead of dry cutting.

In wet cutting, the cutting disc is wetted evenly on both sides.

Caution: remove any foreign bodies such as stones, sand, nails, etc. found in the work area.

Note: check that there are no electrical cables in the cutting area.

The high speed of the cutting disc can, when in contact with the material, cause fragments of the material being cut to be ejected at high speed. For safety, the blade guard should be closed as far as possible so that the material is ejected as far away from the operator as possible.

Mark out the cutting line and then make a groove about 5mm deep. This will ensure that the actual cut is carried out exactly along the marked line. Cut using forward and backward movements with the device.

When cutting slabs, it is not necessary to make a cut through the full depth of the material. It is necessary to make a groove through the entire length of the material to be cut and then remove the excess material by resting it against a flat surface and chipping it off with a hammer.

Caution: when carrying out cutting work, always plan the work so that the cutting disc does not become jammed in the material being cut and the work area is protected so that persons who may be in the area are not exposed to injury from material flying off.

9. Ongoing maintenance

WARNING

All maintenance must be carried out with the unit unplugged.

Transport and storage

Always switch off the motor when transporting or moving the machine from one place to another. Never move the machine while the engine is running and the disc is rotating. Carry the machine by holding the main handle so that the disc is facing away from the operator. Avoid touching the muffler (risk of burns).

When moving the unit over long distances, use transport wheels or place the unit on a trolley. When transporting the unit on a semi-trailer or trailer of a vehicle, always secure the unit against movement. Ensure that no fuel is spilled during transport. Transport the unit with the disc removed. Store the unit in a dry room. Never store the appliance outdoors. Store the appliance with the disc removed. Keep the appliance out of the reach of children. If you store or transport your appliance for long periods of time, refer to the instructions. Store the appliance without fuel in the tank and with the carburettor thoroughly dry.

When storing the disc:

  • keep discs in a dry place, clean and dry. Caution: do not clean resin discs with anything other than water!
  • store the discs horizontally on a flat surface.
  • avoid humidity, very low temperatures, exposure to sunlight, high temperatures and sudden temperature changes. Such conditions can lead to damage to the disc.
  • Before using a resin disc again, check its expiry date. Do not use discs whose expiry date has passed!

Always check discs, both new and used, for defects and damage. After fitting the disc and before the first cut, set the cutter to full speed and leave it for about 60 seconds. Do not stand in the spinning line of the disc during the test. Ensure that there are no bystanders in the working area.

Maintenance operations

Caution: switch off the engine and remove the spark plug pipe before carrying out maintenance. Wait for the engine to cool down (risk of burns).

Always check the condition of the machine before starting. Ensure that the disc is fitted correctly and that it is suitable for the type of work to be carried out. Check that the carburettor is not damaged.

Regularly clean the unit of dust. Regularly clean the fuel tank. Check the seals of the fuel filler cap. Observe accident prevention instructions issued by industry associations and insurance companies. NEVER modify the unit. Independent modifications expose the user to the risk of injury.

  • Carry out only those maintenance operations described in the operating instructions. All other operations must be carried out at Dedra-Exim Sp. Z o.o. services.

Use only original parts and accessories. The use of non-original parts and accessories exposes the user to the risk of injury. If non-original parts and accessories are used, the responsibility for accidents falls on the user of the appliance.

Disposal of the appliance

Keep environmental protection in mind. Used discs must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Before handing them in for disposal, they must be brought to such a condition that reuse is not possible. In the event of wear and tear or damage to the unit, the authorised persons should be consulted to determine how the unit should be disposed of.

Service

Correct spindle speed setting:

  • start the machine and warm up the engine (approx. 3-5 minutes of operation)

  • Use the screwdriver provided to adjust the carburettor.

If the disc rotates even though the throttle is not depressed, turn the carburettor adjustment screw counterclockwise until the disc stops rotating. If the engine suddenly accelerates at idle, turn the screw in a clockwise direction. Always switch off the engine before servicing, remove the cutting disc, remove the cap from the spark plug. Wear protective gloves.

Important: as many of the parts of the appliance necessary for its safe operation are not listed in the body of the manual, the appliance should be taken to a service centre for regular maintenance and inspection. Important: if the disc becomes damaged (e.g. breaks) during cutting, the unit must be taken to a service centre for inspection.

Changing the drive belt.

Wear on the drive belt causes the disc to rotate at a very low speed. The drive belt must then be changed.

  • Loosen the screws and remove the belt cover

  • turn the pulley and insert an ampoule spanner into the hole to lock the pulley

Ensure that the pulley is locked.

  • Loosen the 3 screws locking the position of the arm with the pulley

  • loosen the wheel tension eccentric in a counterclockwise direction.

  • Remove worn belt or belt components

clean the device

Fit the new belt in the reverse order. Tighten the screws locking the position of the arm with the pulley to a torque of 14-17 Nm.

Cleaning the shield

After prolonged use, debris can collect inside the disc guard, which can affect the rotation of the cutting disc. Clean the disc guard regularly. Expose the disc by moving the disc guard over the spring. Remove the spoil. Clean the roller of accumulated dirt.

Cleaning and replacing the air filter

Caution: switch off the engine before changing the filter. Never clean the filter with compressed air. Do not use fuel to clean the air filter and filter insert.

Correct engine operation depends, among other things, on the condition of the air filter. A dirty filter can cause faster wear of engine components. If the filter is damaged, replace it immediately. Larger pieces of excavated material can damage the motor. If possible, do not work in excessively dusty areas. Dust from dry cutting affects both the health of the operator and the life of the machine. If possible, use wet cutting.

Filter replacement:

  • unscrew the screws and remove the filter cover
  • remove the sponge filter (pre-filter) from the cover
  • unscrew the screws and remove the cover, take out the paper filter (internal)

Rinse the sponge filter with water. Wipe the paper filter with a damp cloth and washing up liquid. Allow the filters to dry.

The paper filter (internal) is used to capture finer spoil particles thanks to the material used. Do not clean the filter with a water jet or compressed

air. Check the condition of the filter regularly. For a superficial cleaning of the filter, shake it gently by tapping it against a flat surface.

Clean the filter every 6 motoring hours. Replace the filter every 20 motoring hours.

Replace the filter as soon as you notice a significant drop in power, a significant drop in speed or smoke coming out of the vents.

Before installing the filter, check the chamber for debris. Clean the chamber if necessary.

Spark plug

Attention:

  • never touch a spark plug while the engine is running (shock hazard)
  • switch off the appliance during maintenance operations
  • A hot engine can cause burns. Wear protective gloves
  • the spark plug should be replaced if the insulation is damaged, the electrode is eroded or the electrode is very dirty or oily
  • Remove filter cover and disc cover.
  • remove the candle pipe from the candle.
To prevent damage to the valve when unscrewing the plug, adjust the spanner so that it does not come into contact with the valve. Removing the spark plug:
  • open the engine cover with a screwdriver
  • detach the 3 clips from the filter cover
  • removing the entire engine cover
  • disconnect the ignition coil (remove the spark plug pipe)
  • unscrew the spark plug

Checking the candle

Remove the pipe from the spark plug and unscrew the spark plug. Put the pipe back on the unscrewed spark plug. Caution: do not insert the spanner into the plug socket, this may damage the engine.

  • Using pliers with insulation, hold the spark plug (with pipe) against the

engine block, touching the thread of the spark plug to the edge of the cylinder cover.

  • turn the device switch to the ON (I) position

  • pull the tug (the engine will not resist due to lack of compression).

If the spark plug is working properly, there should be a visible spark between the electrodes

Fuel filter replacement

The felt filter in the fuel tank can become clogged. It is advisable to replace the fuel filter tip once every 3 months to ensure that the fuel has not had excessive resistance when flowing into the carburettor. Unscrew the fuel tank, pull out the retainer and pour out the fuel. Using a wire hook, pull out the fuel filter and replace it. Avoid fuel coming into contact with skin and eyes!

Recommendations for periodic inspections

In order to ensure a long service life of the appliance, the avoidance of malfunctions and the full functionality of the safety systems, the maintenance operations specified below must be carried out regularly. The warranty conditions only apply if maintenance is carried out regularly. Caution: Improper maintenance of the unit may cause accidents.
