milk) Important safety instructions ∙ In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix). ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it. ∙ Caution: The milk container heats up during operation and will remain hot some time afterwards. Do not touch hot surfaces. ∙ Hold the container only by its handle. ∙ This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as the - staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments, - agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. GB10 ∙ This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. ∙ Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. ∙ The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fi tted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance. ∙ This appliance is solely designed for heating up and frothing milk. Do not put any other type of liquid or solid food in the container. ∙ Do not leave the milk frother unattended while in use. ∙ Always observe the minimum and maximum level marks inside the container for each application. ∙ The protrusion in the bottom of the container (min. level mark) must be covered by the milk. If there is not enough milk, the appliance may overheat. ∙ To prevent such overheating, the appliance will automatically switch off if it is operated when empty. ∙ Overfi lling the container may cause danger if frothing milk is forced out. ∙ Caution: The lid must be fi tted during operation. To add ingredients during operation, always use the opening in the lid. ∙ The appliance may only be used with the original accessory parts provided by the manufacturer. ∙ The appliance must always be set on a fi rm, level surface. ∙ Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to come into contact with open fl ames or any hot surfaces such as hot- plates. ∙ Do not allow the power cord to hang free; the cord must be kept well away from hot parts of the appliance. ∙ Always remove the plug from the wall socket - in case of any malfunction, - after use,11 - before cleaning the appliance. ∙ When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. ∙ No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. Before using for the fi rst time Remove any packaging materials and check that all components are present. Before the appliance is used for the fi rst time, or after extended periods of non-use, it should be thoroughly cleaned as described in the section Cleaning and care. Operation We recommend the use of long-life low-fat milk (UTF, 1.5% fat content). For best results, the milk should be taken from the refrigerator immediately before frothing. The underside of the container and the contact area on the inside of the base must be clean and dry. Choosing the stirring head ∙ Use the smooth stirring head to heat up milk. ∙ For frothing and heating milk at the same time, use the serrated head. ∙ For cold-frothing milk, also use the serrated head. ∙ When not in use, the stirring heads may be safely stored at the rear of the housing. Fill amounts ∙ Always observe the minimum mark and ensure the container is fi lled with at least 120 ml milk. ∙ For frothing, fi ll the container to a maximum of 350 ml (lower max mark

After a beep signal is heard, the indicator light for the selected temperature function shows a steady light and the cooling system of the motor is heard to start up. A moment later, the appliance starts to stir the milk. Once the milk is suffi ciently hot or the cold-frothing process is complete, both heating and stirring processes stop automatically. from the base. Use a suitable spoon to take off the milk froth. The cooling system continues to run for a brief period. The temperature indicator lamp stops fl ashing after about three minutes. After a heating cycle, the appliance cannot start a new stirring and heating cycle immediately, but must be allowed to cool down fi rst. After a cold-frothing cycle, a new stirring and heating cycle may be started immediately. Making cocoa The appliance is also suitable for preparing cocoa drinks. Proceed as described in the section Heating up or frothing milk. Fit the smooth stirring head and set the temperature selector to 45° C. As soon as the milk has been heated to 45° C (as indicated by the corresponding beep signals), take off the lid insert and add the required amount of cocoa powder. Now set the temperature selector to 65° C and press the On/Off switch again. To prevent any blockage or congestion, do not use grated chocolate or chocolate fl akes when making cocoa. Interrupting or ending a cycle Press the On/Off switch to stop the heating and stirring process: The main indicator lamp starts fl ashing and the motor cooling system can be heard. To continue the heating and stirring process, Press the On/Off switch again. Hint To achieve a thicker froth, go through a cold-frothing cycle fi rst, followed by a hot-frothing cycle. Cleaning and care ∙ Always remove the plug from the wall socket and wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill before cleaning the appliance. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the base or the power cord with water and do not immerse them. ∙ The container, stirring heads and lid should be cleaned after each cycle of use with hot water and a little detergent, or in a dishwasher. If necessary, the serrated stirring head may be cleaned with a suitable brush. ∙ Wipe all parts thoroughly dry. ∙ The base may be cleaned with a damp cloth and a little detergent. ∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. Disposal Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
