This product can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the product in a safe way and understand the haz- ards involved. Children shall not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by chil- dren without supervision. Do not use the product if you detect any kind of damage. The illuminant is not replaceable. If the illuminant fails at the end of its life, the entire product must be replaced.19 GB/IE Product-specific safety instructions Make sure that the solar cell is free of dirt and free of snow and ice in winter. Otherwise the performance of the solar cell will diminish. Safety instructions for batteries/ rechargeable batteries DANGER TO LIFE! Keep batteries/rechargeable batter- ies out of reach of children. If accidentally swallowed seek immediate medical attention. Swallowing may lead to burns, perforation of soft tissue, and death. Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestion. DANGER OF EXPLOSION! Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Do not short-circuit batteries/rechargeable batteries and/or open them. Overheating, fire or bursting can be the result. Never throw batteries/rechargeable batteries into fire or water. Do not exert mechanical loads to batteries/echargeable batteries. Risk of leakage of batteries/rechargeable batteries Avoid extreme environmental conditions and temperatures, which could affect batteries/rechargeable batteries, e.g. radiators/direct sunlight. If batteries/rechargeable batteries have leaked, avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes with the chemicals! Flush immediately the affected areas with fresh water and seek medical attention! WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES! Leaked or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can cause burns on contact with the skin. Wear suita- ble protective gloves at all times if such an event occurs. In the event of a leakage of batteries/rechargeable batteries, immediately remove them from the product to prevent damage. Remove batteries/rechargeable batteries if the product will not be used for a longer period. Risk of damage of the product Only use the specified type of battery/rechargeable battery! Insert batteries/rechargeable batteries according to polarity marks (+) and (-) on the battery/rechargeable battery and the product.20 GB/IE Use a dry lint-free cloth or cotton swab to clean the contacts on the battery/rechargeable battery and in the battery compartment before inserting! Remove exhausted batteries/rechargeable batteries from the product immediately. Functioning The solar cell installed in the product converts sunlight into elec- trical energy and stores it in 1 Ni-MH rechargeable battery. Switch on the product with the ON/OFF switch

. The product will automatically light on as it begins to get dark. The in-built LED is a very long-life and energy-saving light source. The light duration depends on the amount of sunlight, the angle of light on the so- lar cell and the temperature (the rechargeable battery capacity is temperature-dependent). A vertical angle of light at tempera- tures above the freezing point is ideal. The rechargeable battery

does not achieve maximum capacity until after several charge and discharge cycles. Preparing for use Note: Remove all packaging materials from the product. Installing the product Install the product in accordance with Figures A, C, D:

Setting up the product Insert the assembled product far enough into the ground (lawn, flower bed) for it to be stable. Make sure you keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not use any force when assembling or setting-up the21 GB/IE product, e.g. hammer blows. This will damage the product. In order to achieve the best result, set the product up in a place where the solar cell will get direct sunlight for as long as possible. Make sure that the solar cell is not influenced by any other source of light such as yard or street lighting as otherwise the light will not come on in twilight. The light automatically switches on in twilight conditions and off again when normal outdoor lighting conditions return. Replacing the rechargeable battery The rechargeable battery should be replaced every 12 months to ensure optimum performance.

by using a small cross head screwdriver and then lever out the decorative solar light

with the help of a slot screwdriver (see Fig. B/E).

3. Take care not to damage the cables and cable connections

4. Exchange the old rechargeable battery

to a new one. Take care about the correct polarity, when inserting the new rechargeable battery. The polarity is indicated in the battery compartment. The new rechargeable battery has to have the same technical data like the old one.

to the position ON. Charging the rechargeable battery Note that the product must be switched on when the rechargea- ble battery is charging. The charging time of the rechargeable battery when the solar cell is used depends on the intensity of the sunlight and the angle of incidence of the light on the solar cell. Place the solar cell as perpendicular as possible to the angle of incidence of the light. In this way you will receive the highest light levels. Maintenance and care The LED cannot be replaced. The product is maintenance-free, except for any necessary change of rechargeable battery.22 GB/IE Clean the product regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth. Use a slightly dampened cloth to remove more stubborn dirt. Troubleshooting Note: This product has delicate electronic components. This means that if it is placed near an object that transmits radio signals, it could cause interference. If you notice that the prod- uct is malfunctioning, remove any sources of interference from the area of the product. Note: Electrostatic discharges may cause product to malfunction. In the event of such malfunctions, remove the rechargeable battery briefly and reinsert it. Error Cause Solution The light will not switch on even though the sun shone on the prod- uct all day. Artificial sources of light, e.g. street lighting, are in- terfering with the product. Mount the product in a place where it can- not be disturbed by other sources of light. The light does not come on or comes on only briefly. The rechargeable battery is broken or there was not enough daylight. Replace the rechargea- ble battery or mount the product in a place where it can receive more sunlight. Disposal The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.

Observe the marking of the packaging materials for waste separation, which are marked with abbrevia- tions (a) and numbers (b) with following meaning: 1–7: plastics/20–22: paper and fibreboard/80–98: composite materials. Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details of how to dispose of your worn-out product. To help protect the environment, please dispose of the product properly when it has reached the end of its useful life and not in the household waste. Infor- mation on collection points and their opening hours can be obtained from your local authority.23 GB/IE The product incl. accessories and packaging materials are recy- clable and are subject to extended producer responsibility. Dis- pose them separately, following the illustrated Info-tri (sorting information), for better waste treatment. The Triman logo is valid in France only. Faulty or used batteries/rechargeable batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC and its amendments. Please return the batteries/rechargeable batteries and/or the product to the available collection points. Environmental damage through incorrect disposal of the batteries/rechargeable batteries! Batteries/rechargeable batteries may not be disposed of with the usual domestic waste. They may contain toxic heavy metals and are subject to hazardous waste treatment rules and regula- tions. The chemical symbols for heavy metals are as follows: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. That is why you should dispose of used batteries/rechargeable batteries at a local collection point. Warranty The product has been manufactured to strict quality guidelines and meticulously examined before delivery. In the event of ma- terial or manufacturing defects you have legal rights against the retailer of this product. Your legal rights are not limited in any way by our warranty detailed below. The warranty for this product is 3 years from the date of purchase
