How to clean the EHEIM skim350 filter?

To clean the filter, first unplug the device. Remove the filter chamber by pressing upward, then remove the cartridge. Clean the cartridge with clean water or replace it. Also clean the pump impeller with a brush under water. Then reassemble in reverse order. See the maintenance section of the manual.

What is the maximum water temperature for this device?

The water temperature must not exceed 35°C.

Can I use the skim350 filter in saltwater?

No, this device is designed for use in freshwater only. Use in saltwater could damage the device.

What to do if water leaks from the device?

In case of a leak, immediately disconnect all aquarium devices from the mains. Check the condition of the seals and cartridge. If the problem persists, contact EHEIM after-sales service. Never operate the device out of water.

How to install the filter for the first time?

Install the filter in the aquarium by attaching it to the glass using the supplied suction cups. Follow the assembly instructions in the manual. Ensure the device is submerged and the cable forms a drip loop to prevent water ingress.

What are the important safety precautions?

Read the entire manual before use. Use a 30 mA residual current device. Never operate the device out of water. Disconnect before maintenance. Do not use with flammable liquids. Keep out of reach of children.

Can I use the filter with chemicals or additives?

No, the device must not be used with easily flammable, aggressive or explosive substances, nor with food or drinking water. Use it only for aquarium water filtration.

How to replace the filter cartridge?

Unplug the device. Remove the filter chamber by pressing upward, then remove the old cartridge. Insert a new cartridge (reference see manual). Reassemble the chamber. Regular replacement is recommended for optimal filtration.

Is the device covered by a warranty?

Application

The appliance and all parts included in the scope of delivery are intended for private use and must only be used:

· for aquarium-related purposes
· indoors
· in compliance with the technical data

The following limitations apply to the appliance:

· do not use for commercial or industrial purposes
- do not use together with caustic, inflammable, aggressive or explosive substances, food or drinking water
· the water temperature may not exceed 35^ C
· never operate without a water flow

For your safety

• Do not let the appliance packaging and small parts get into the hands of children or people who are unaware of how to handle them, as hazards can arise (danger of suffocation!). Keep away from animals.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are under the supervision of someone responsible for their safety or have received instruction on usage of the appliance from said person. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

· Only for European markets:

This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised and have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the resulting dangers. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.

• Before use, carry out a visual inspection to ensure that the appliance, especially the mains cable and plug, are undamaged.
  · The appliance must never be operated out of water.
  · Repairs must only be carried out by an EHEIM service centre.
• The mains cable of this appliance cannot be replaced. If the cable is damaged, the appliance must be scrapped.
• Only carry out the work described in these instructions.
  · Never make technical modifications to the appliance.
• Only use original spare parts and accessories for the appliance.

We recommend protecting all electrical aquarium appliances via a residual current protective device with a rated residual current of 30 mA maximum.

- In the event of leakage or when the residual current protection device is triggered, immediately disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply. - If they are not being used, always disconnect all devices in the aquarium from the power supply before you install/remove any parts and before all cleaning and maintenance work.

- Protect the mains socket and mains plug against moisture and wetness. A drip loop must be formed with the mains cable.

This prevents any water running along the cable to the mains socket, which would result in a short-circuit.

- The electrical data of the appliance must match the data of the power mains. This data is found on the type plate, the packaging and in these instructions.

Maintenance

Cleaning or changing the filter cartridge and cleaning the pump miniFLAT/miniUP (☒G/H/I/J)

1. Before maintenance work, remove the mains plug.
2. Gently tilt the filter container① upward.
3. Remove the filter container from the pump cover ^② .
4. Remove the filter cartridge ③.
5. Wash the filter cartridge or replace it.
6. Remove the pump cover from the pump body ②.
7. Pull the impeller⑤ out of the pump body.
8. Using a brush, clean all components under a jet of water.
9. Install all components again in reverse order.

The appliance may no longer be disposed of with the municipal or household waste. The appliance will be accepted free of charge at municipal collection points or recycling centres. The product packaging is made up of recyclable materials. Dispose of them in an environmentally responsible manner and take them for recycling.
