Frequently Asked Questions - DUB1312 D-LINK

How to install the DUB-1312 driver on Windows?
Insert the provided installation CD into the drive. The user interface appears, click Install. If the interface does not open, manually browse to the Autorun folder on the CD and open the Install folder. Follow the wizard instructions. Once the driver is installed, plug the adapter into a USB port.
What to do if the driver is not recognized by Windows?
On Windows Vista/XP, you may need to ignore WHQL warnings by selecting Continue Anyway. On 64-bit systems, temporarily disable WHQL verification in startup options. Also check that the CD is properly inserted or download the latest drivers from D-Link's website.
How to know if the connection is Gigabit (1 Gbps)?
Observe the Connection Speed LED on the adapter: if it stays solid green, the connection is Gigabit; if off, it is 10/100 Mbps. The Link/Activity LED indicates an active link or data transfer.
Can I use the adapter on a USB 2.0 port?
Yes, the DUB-1312 is compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports. However, speeds will be limited to the port speed (480 Mbps for USB 2.0). For optimal performance, use a USB 3.0 port.
Which operating systems are compatible?
The adapter is compatible with Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP (Service Pack 3), Mac OS 10.6 to 10.8, and Linux (kernel 2.6.14 or higher). For Mac and Linux, refer to the user manual on the CD.
How to resolve a network connection problem?
First check the LEDs: if both are off, there is a physical problem. Check the cables between the adapter, computer, and router/switch. Ensure the network device is turned on. Try a different Ethernet cable or USB port.
What do the LED indicators mean?
The Connection Speed LED: on = Gigabit (1 Gbps), off = 10/100 Mbps. The Link/Activity LED: solid on = active connection, blinking = data transmitting/receiving.
Can I connect the adapter directly to an Ethernet cable from the wall?
Yes, as long as the other end is connected to a switch, hub, or router. The DUB-1312 supports auto-MDI/MDI-X detection, so no crossover cable is needed.
Where to download the drivers if I don't have the CD?
Go to D-Link's support website at dlink.com/support and search for model DUB-1312. You will find drivers for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Does the adapter work with a 10/100 only router?
Yes, it is backward compatible with 10/100 Mbps networks. Speed will be limited to the lower speed between the adapter and router, but it will work perfectly.
