USER MANUAL BI15 TROTEC
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents to clean the device.
- The device must not be exposed to direct sunlight, high temperatures or humidity! Otherwise, the insu- lation or electronics of the device can be damaged.
- Do not use the device when the battery compartment or the housing are open.
- Do not leave the packaging lying around. Children may use it as a dangerous toy.
- The device is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children. Risk from laser radiation!
- Do not look into the laser beam. Do not point the de- vice at people. Danger!
- Cables and connections can differ in terms of con- struction, shielding and insulation, which can influ- ence the AC power detection. Personnel qualifications People who use this device must:
- know and understand the dangers of working on live parts;
- take measures to protect themselves from direct contact with live parts;

The exact position of beams and braces is detected and shown in the display as edges. The laser pointer rotates by 180° to show where other beams are found. For precision, two spirit levels are built into the device. The adjustment wheels are used to precisely align the device on uneven surfaces.

16B - 7 Operating manual - Locating device BI15 EN Calibration So that the detection works, the device must first be cal- ibrated on the surface to be tested. Dense material and damp or recently painted walls can influence the calibration.
1. Place the device on the surface to be tested in a po-
sition under which there is no metal or wood.
2. Press and hold the "On" button (8) during the cali-
bration and the subsequent measurement. – All symbols appear on the display for one second. – The "WOOD" (14) or "METAL" (12) symbols flash depending on which material was set beforehand. – After 3 seconds, a beep is emitted and the "READY" symbol (10) appears. – The "READY" (10) and "WOOD" (14) symbols ap- pear.
4. Push the device over the surface in a straight line.
– If wood is detected, lines appear in the display. When near wood, the lines in the middle of the display move closer to the middle of the display (see figure on page B - 6). – If an edge is detected, the "EDGE" symbol (15) ap- pears and a beep is emitted. – The "READY" (10) and "METAL" (12) symbols ap- pear.
