USER MANUAL R4SDP RYOBI
Safety, performance, and dependability have been given top priority in the design of your screwdriver. INTENDED USE The screwdriver is intended to be used only by adults who have read and understood the instructions and warnings in this manual, and can be considered responsible for their actions. The product is intended for fastening and removing screws and bolts. The product is intended for consumer use only. Do not use the product for any other purpose. Use of the product for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation. NOTE: It is recommended to use pilot holes prior to driving screws. WARNING Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
SCREWDRIVER SAFETY WARNINGS
■ Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the fastener may contact hidden wiring. Fasteners contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock. ■ Ambient temperature range for tool during operation is between 0°C and 40°C. ■ Ambient temperature range for tool storage is between 0°C and 40°C. ■ The recommended ambient temperature range for the charging system during charging is between 10°C and 38°C.
CHARGER SAFETY WARNINGS
■ Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings in this manual, on battery charger, battery, and product using battery to prevent misuse of the products and possible injury or damage. ■ Do not use charger outdoors or expose to wet or damp conditions. Water entering charger will increase the risk of electric shock. ■ Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by the battery charger manufacturer may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious personal injury. ■ Do not abuse cord or charger. Never use the cord to carry the charger. Do not pull the charger cord rather than the plug when disconnecting from receptacle. Damage to the cord or charger could occur and create an electric shock hazard. Replace damaged cords immediately. ■ Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp edges or moving parts or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. This will reduce the risk of accidental falls, which could cause injury, and damage to the cord, which could result in electric shock.2 | English ■ Keep cord and charger from heat to prevent damage to housing or internal parts. ■ Do not operate charger with a damaged cord or plug, which could cause shorting and electric shock. If damaged, have the charger replaced by an authorised serviceman. ■ Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way. Take it to an authorised serviceman for electrical check to determine if the charger is in good working order. ■ Do not disassemble charger. Take it to an authorised serviceman when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire. ■ Unplug charger from outlet before attempting any maintenance or cleaning to reduce the risk of electric shock. ■ Disconnect charger from the power supply when not in use. This will reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the charger if metal items should fall into the opening. It also will help prevent damage to the charger during a power surge. ■ Risk of electric shock. Do not touch uninsulated portion of output connector or uninsulated battery terminal.
BATTERY SAFETY WARNINGS
Li-ion ■ Do not dispose of used battery packs in the household refuse or by burning them. To ensure proper disposal of waste battery packs and protect the environment, hand over old battery packs to your Ryobi distributor. ■ Segregate electronic waste properly by removing integrated battery packs from the main unit before disposal. Hand them over to applicable collection points. ■ To remove the integrated battery pack: Separate the housing shells from one another by removing the screws. Disconnect the battery pack from the circuit and remove. ■ NOTE: When opened, the product is no longer reusable or serviceable and should be disposed of properly. ■ Before removing the battery pack from the power tool, switch on the product until the battery pack is fully discharged. ■ Ensure that the battery pack to be disposed of cannot come in contact with batteries, other battery packs, or conductive materials by protecting exposed connectors with insulating, non-conductive caps or tape. ■ Never charge a damaged battery pack.
ADDITIONAL BATTERY SAFETY
WARNINGS WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, personal injury, and product damage due to a short circuit, never immerse your tool in fluids or allow a fluid to flow inside it. Corrosive or conductive fluids, such as seawater, certain industrial chemicals, and bleach or bleach-containing products, etc., can cause a short circuit.3 English |
■ Ambient temperature range for battery during use is between 0°C and 40°C. ■ Ambient temperature range for battery storage is between 0°C and 20°C. RESIDUAL RISKS Even when the product is used as prescribed, it is still impossible to completely eliminate certain residual risk factors. The following hazards may arise and the operator should pay special attention to avoid the following: ■ Damage to hearing caused by noise Wear suitable hearing protection and limit exposure. ■ Injury to the eyes Wear protective eye shields or goggles when using the product. ■ Injury caused by vibration Limit exposure. Follow the instructions in Risk Reduction. ■ Electric shock caused by contact with hidden wires Hold the product only by insulated services. ■ Injury caused by dust Dust created by operating the product can cause respiratory injury. Wear appropriate dust control mask with filters suitable for protecting against particles from the material being worked on. RISK REDUCTION It has been reported that vibrations from handheld tools may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness, and blanching of the fingers, usually apparent upon exposure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure to cold and dampness, diet, smoking, and work practices are all thought to contribute to the development of these symptoms. There are measures that can be taken by the operator to possibly reduce the effects of vibration: ■ Keep your body warm in cold weather. When operating the unit, wear gloves to keep the hands and wrists warm. It is reported that cold weather is a major factor contributing to Raynaud’s Syndrome. ■ After each period of operation, exercise to increase blood circulation. ■ Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day. If you experience any of the symptoms of this condition, immediately discontinue use and see your doctor about these symptoms. WARNING Injuries may be caused, or aggravated, by prolonged use of a tool. When using any tool for prolonged periods, ensure you take regular breaks.
