First Use - Rinsing your appliance

1 - Unpack your appliance. Keep the Claris Filter cartridge (according to model) to one side.
2 - Engage the lid on the body of the product. (fig. 1, 2, 3)
3 - Wash and dry the water tank. Fill the water tank with cold water. (fig. 4, 5)
4 - Place the water tank onto the appliance and then close the lid onto the water tank. Press the water tank firmly into place. (fig. 6)
5 - Place the appliance on a flat, stable heat-resistant surface.
6 - Plug the appliance in.
7 - Place a container that holds approximately 1.7 litres under the nozzle.
8 - Adjust the nozzle according to the height of the container by pulling the rubber grip up or pushing it down.
9 - Press the hot water button, hot water will begin to dispense from the spout. 220ml of hot water will be dispensed automatically, repeat the process until the water tank is empty. (fig. 7)

NB : The noise and vibration during use is the pump operating. This is normal.

10 - When the container is almost full, discard the water.

NB : A little water may splash from the nozzle. To avoid this, we recommend you use a taller vessel or hold the cup closer to the nozzle.

To remove or fit the drip tray, up-lift it during the removal or fitting process.

Fitting the Claris Filter cartridge (according to model)

1 - Unwrap the Claris Filter cartridge. Hold the Claris Filter cartridge under a tap and rinse it for 30 seconds under running water to eliminate any carbon residues.
2 - Note the month in which you begin to use the cartridge by turning the upper ring on the cartridge. We would suggest that the month should be the one showing in the left hand side of the opening. (fig. 8)
3 - Fit the Claris Filter cartridge into the water tank by making a quarter turn clockwise. (fig. 9)
4 - The Claris Filter cartridge should be replaced after approximately 50 litres of water used, or after approximately 6 weeks depending on frequency of use. For models with cartridge change indicator, change the cartridge when the blue light turns on. (fig. 10)
5 - Once you have changed the Claris Filter cartridge, press and hold the hot and ambient buttons simultaneously for approximately 5 seconds. The reset is memorised and the blue light will turn off (according to model). (fig. 11)
6 - Place a container under the nozzle and press the hot water button. Run a 220ml cycle of water into a cup and then discard it, in order to remove any final carbon residues from the filter.

The benefits of using Claris Filter cartridge

You can use your Quick & Hot without a cartridge but for best results we recommend using a Claris filter cartridge. The Claris Filter cartridge will only filter the water as you dispense it, so you always have fresh filtered water. The cartridge contains an antilime substance and activated carbon that reduces chlorine, impurities, lead, copper, pesticides etc that are present in water. Minerals and trace elements are preserved. You can purchase a cartridge - ref: XH5001 from our web site: www.tefal.com

1 - Fill the water tank with cold water. (fig. 12)
2 - Place the water tank onto the appliance and then close the lid onto the water tank. Press the water tank firmly into place. (fig. 6)
3 - Plug the appliance in.
4 - Place a cup under the nozzle. To obtain hot water, briefly press the hot water button and you will automatically obtain 220ml of hot water. Adjust the height of the nozzle by pulling the rubber grip up or pushing it down. (fig.13)
5 - If you wish to stop the water before the end of the cycle, press the hot water button again. (fig. 7)
6 - Depending on the model you have, to obtain ambient water, follow the same procedure but use the ambient water button, which produces 200ml of water automatically dispensed at room temperature. (fig. 14)
NB: If you would like to get ambient water after the hot water has been running, fill half a mug and discard it or wait for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Setting the cup quantity

Quick & Hot Deluxe is already pre-programmed to dispense 220 ml of hot water and 200 ml of ambient water (depending on model).

To change the programmed amount :

1 - Fill the water tank with cold water.
2 - Push the water tank firmly into place.
3 - To set up the hot water quantity, press and hold the hot water button. Once the desired amount of hot water is reached, release the hot water button. The new hot water quantity is now programmed.
4 - If your model has an ambient water button, to set the quantity repeat the above steps pressing the ambient temperature button.

Descaling

Dscaling should be carried out every 2 months (or after 500 cycles) or for models with descending indicator, descending should be done when the orange light flashes on the control panel. (fig. 15)

1 - Place a 1.7 litre container under the nozzle.
2 - Remove the Claris filter cartridge. Fill the tank with 1 litre of white vinegar. (White vinegar is available from hardware stores).
3a - For models with descending indicator:

  • Press and hold the hot and ambient water buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds.
  • The orange light will remain on during descending and white vinegar will intermittently spread through the circuit of the appliance to break down the scale.

Descending will last approximately 10 minutes
- At the end of the descending cycle, the orange indicator light will turn off. (fig. 11)

3b - For models with only one button and no orange indicator:
Press the hot button several times to empty the tank.
4-For all models:
- Refill the water tank, and rinse the appliance following the 'Rinsing your appliance section'.
NB : If the orange light flashes during use you may need to descale the appliance as soon as possible.
