1 Important

Read this user manual carefully before you use the Rice cooker and save it for future reference.

Danger

• The appliance must not be immersed.

Warning

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
• This appliance should be positioned in a stable situation with the handles (if any) positioned to avoid spillage of the hot liquids.

• This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

• Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;

• Farm houses;
• By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
• Bed and breakfast type environments.

- If the power cord set is damaged, it must be replaced by a cord set available from the manufacturer.

• The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or a separate remote-control system.
• Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local power voltage before you connect it.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance stands.
• Make sure the heating element, the temperature sensor, and the outside of the inner pot are clean and dry before you put the plug in the power outlet.
• Do not plug in the appliance or press any of the buttons on the control panel with wet hands.
• WARNING: Make sure to avoid spillage on the power connector to avoid a potential hazard.
• WARNING: Always follow the instructions and use the appliance properly to avoid potential injury.
• According to the instructions prescribed in this user manual, use a soft damp cloth to clean the surfaces in contact with food and make sure to remove all the food residues stuck to the appliance.
• Don't place the power cord under the appliance when in use.

Caution

- The symbol marked on the appliance means "Caution, Hot surfaces", do not touch the hot surface in order to avoid scald.

• CAUTION: Surface of the heating element is subject to residual heat after use.
• Never use any accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that Philips does not specifically recommend. If you use such accessories or parts, your guarantee becomes invalid.
• The aluminum board of the top lid is not intended to contact with acidic foods pH≤5.0 such as sauerkraut, pickles, jam, jellies, tomatoes, vinegar, lime or lemon, sour plum and coke.
• Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures, nor place it on a working or still hot stove or cooker.
• Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight.
• Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal, and level surface.
• Always put the inner pot in the appliance before you put the plug in the power outlet and switch it on.
• Do not place the inner pot directly over an open fire to cook rice.
• Do not use the inner pot if it is deformed.
• The accessible surfaces may become hot when the appliance is operating. Take extra caution when touching the appliance.
• Beware of hot steam coming out of the steam vent during cooking or out of the appliance when you open the lid. Keep hands and face away from the appliance to avoid the steam.
• Do not lift and move the appliance while it is operating.
• Do not exceed the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot to prevent overflow which might cause potential hazard.
• Do not place the cooking utensils inside the pot while cooking, keeping warm or reheating rice.
• Only use the cooking utensils provided. Avoid using sharp utensils.
• To avoid scratches, it is not recommended to cook ingredients with crustaceans and shellfish. Remove the hard shells before cooking.
• Do not insert metallic objects or alien substances into the steam vent.
• Do not place a magnetic substance on the lid. Do not use the appliance near a magnetic substance
• Always let the appliance cool down before you clean or move it.
• Always clean the appliance after use. Do not clean the appliance in a dishwasher.
• Always unplug the appliance if not used for a longer period.
• The operating altitude range of the appliance is 0 -2000 meters.

- If the appliance is used improperly or for professional or semi-professional purposes, or if it is not used according to the instructions in this user manual, the guarantee becomes invalid and Philips refuses liability for any damage caused.

Power-failure memory function

This appliance features a power-failure memory function that save the status prior to the power loss.

• If a power outage occurs during cooking and power is restored within 2 hours, the cooking time countdown will resume from its previous point.
• If a power outage occurs while the product is in preset mode and power is restored within 2 hours, the preset time countdown will resume from its previous point.
• If power is not restored within 2 hours, the appliance may not resume its previous work process.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This appliance complies with the applicable standards and regulations regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.

*Default cooking time means the default cooking time displayed on the screen when the corresponding function is selected. The appliance cannot adjust the cooking time manually. The actual cooking time may vary depending on the amount of ingredients, amount of water, water temperature, environment, etc.

**Use the measuring cup provided with the rice cooker to measure raw rice.

***The Fast cook function is affected by factors such as rice amount, water quantity, water temperature, and environment, so the cooking time is not directly displayed at the beginning of cooking process.

As a reference, the cooking time is approximately 30 minutes for cooking 1 cup of short-grain rice.

3 Using your rice cooker

Before first use

1 Take out all the accessories from the inner pot. Remove the packaging material of the inner pot.
2 Before first use, boil water and clean the Rice cooker.
3 Clean the parts of the Rice cooker thoroughly before using it for the first time (see chapter "Cleaning and Maintenance").

Notes

• Make sure all parts are completely dry before you start using the Rice cooker.

Preparations before cooking

Warning

- Make sure the detachable inner lid is correctly installed.

Notes

• Do not exceed the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot, as this may cause the Rice cooker to overflow.
• The level marked inside the inner pot is just an indication.
• You can always adjust the water level for different types of grains and your own preference.
• After the cooking process starts, you can press Menu/Cancel to cancel the cooking, the rice cooker will go to standby mode.
• After the rice cooker is powered on, if there is no operation within 5 minutes, the appliance will go to standby mode, and the user can press any key to re-activate the rice cooking.

Perform the following preparations before cooking with the rice cooker:

1 Press the lid release button to open the rice cooker.

2 Take out the inner pot.

3 Put the washed food into the inner pot, and wipe off water outside of the inner pot with a soft clean cloth, put it back into the appliance.

4 Close the lid.

5 put the plug in the power socket.

Note

• Make sure that the outside of the inner pot is dry and clean, and that there is no foreign residue on the inside of the appliance.
• Make sure the inner pot is in proper contact with the heating element.
• During or immediately after use, keep your body away from steam vent to avoid burns.

Cooking rice

1 Follow the steps in "Preparations before cooking".
2 Press Menu/Cancel to choose Fast cook, White rice, Brown rice for Sushi rice.

→The indicator of chosen cooking function blinks.

→The default cooking timer displays on the screen.

3 Press Start to start the cooking process.

4 When the cooking is finished, you will hear 4 beeps and the selected cooking function light will be off.

5 The rice cooker will be in keep warm mode automatically.

→The keep-warm indicator lights up.

Note

• After the cooking process is started, press Menu/Cancel to terminate the current cooking process.
• The level marked inside the inner pot is just an indication; you can always adjust the water level for different types of rice and your own preference.
• Besides following the water level indications, you may also add rice and water at 1:(1.3-1.6) ratio for rice cooking.
• To prevent the rice from clumping, loosen the rice within 30 minutes.
• Do not exceed the volume indicated nor exceed the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot, as this may cause the rice cooker to overflow and cause potential hazard.

Porridge

1 Put all ingredients into the inner pot.
2 Follow the steps in "Preparations before cooking".
3 Press Menu/Cancel to select Porridge.

4 Press Start to start cooking.

Preset timer for delayed cooking

Notes

• The preset function is not available for Keep warm. The preset timer is up to 24 hours.
• The preset timer should be longer than cooking time.
• If you want to enjoy delicious rice after 8 hours, set the preset time to 8 hours.
• Beware of setting this for too long in the future if there are perishable foods among the contents of the dish you are cooking.

1 Choose a function you need, Press Preset time/ Timerto set the preset timer.

→The preset timer indicator blinks.

2 Press Preset time /Time to adjust the time.

→With each press, the time increases by 15 minutes. Long press Preset time/Time to quickly adjust the time.

3 Press Start to confirm. The rice cooker starts working at the selected mode.

→The preset timer indicator is on.
→The rice cooker starts countdown until the cooking process is finished.

4 Cleaning and Maintenance

Notes

• Unplug the Rice cooker before starting to clean it.
• Wait until the appliance has cooled down sufficiently before cleaning.

Inner lid

• Remove the inner lid that can be detached from the top lid and clean it.
• Soak the inner lid in warm water and wash it with a sponge.
• Remove all the food residues stuck to the appliance.
  • Reattach the inner lid to the top lid.

Interior

Top lid and inside of the appliance:

• Wipe with wrung out cloth.
• Remove all the food residues stuck to the appliance.

Heating element:

• Wipe with wrung out cloth.
• Remove all the food residues.

Exterior

• Wipe with a cloth damped with soap water.
• Only use soft and dry cloth to wipe the control panel.
  • Make sure to remove all the food residues.

Accessories

Rice scoop and inner pot.

- Soak in hot water and clean with sponge.

5 Recycling

This symbol means that this product shall not be disposed of with normal household waste (2012/19/EU).

Follow your country's rules for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Correct disposal helps prevent negative consequences for the environment and human health.

6 Warranty and support

8 Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems when using this appliance, check the following points before requesting service. If you cannot solve the problem, contact the Philips Consumer Care Center in your country.

Problem Solution
The light on the button does not go on.	There is a connection problem. Check if the power cord is connected to the rice cooker properly and if the plug is inserted firmly into the power outlet.
	The light is defective. Take the appliance to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
The rice is not cooked.	There is not enough water. Add water according to the scale on the inside of the inner pot.
	Make sure that there is no foreign residue on the heating element and the outside of the inner pot before switching the rice cooker on.
	The heating element is damaged, or the inner pot is deformed. Take the rice cooker to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
The rice is too hard, or not well cooked.	Add more water into the rice or cook longer.
The appliance does not switch to keep warm mode automatically.	The temperature control system has malfunction. Take the appliance to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
During cooking, There is water spilling in the rice cooker.	Based on the rice amount and different types of rice, add the appropriate amount of water according to the water level indication on the inner pot.
Rice smells bad after cooking	Use the cleaning agent and warm water to clean the inner pot.
	After cooking, make sure the steam vent cap, inner lid and inner pot are cleaned thoroughly. Clean the inner pot with some washing detergent and warm water.
E1, E2, E3 or E4 displays on the screen.	The rice cooker has malfunction. Take the appliance to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
