How to configure the ASUS RT-N19 router?

Connect the router to a power outlet and turn it on. Connect your computer to a LAN port or to the default Wi-Fi network (SSID on the label). Open a browser and go to http://router.asus.com. Follow the on-screen instructions to set a password and Wi-Fi settings.

What to do if I forgot the admin password?

You must reset the router to factory settings. Press and hold the Reset button on the back for about 5 seconds until the power LED blinks. Release, the router will restart with default settings.

How to restore factory settings?

Use a paperclip or pen to press the Reset button on the back of the router. Hold it for about 5 seconds until the power LED blinks. The router will restart with factory settings.

How to use the WPS button?

Press the WPS button on the back of the router. Then, on your client device (smartphone, computer), enable WPS connection in Wi-Fi settings. The secure connection will be established automatically without a password.

Where to find the default SSID and password?

The default SSID and Wi-Fi password are printed on the label at the back of the router. The SSID is usually in the format 'ASUS_XX_2G' where XX corresponds to the last two digits of the 2.4 GHz MAC address.

How to update the router firmware?

Log into the router's web interface (http://router.asus.com). Go to 'Administration' then 'Firmware Update'. Click 'Check' to see available updates. Follow instructions to download and install the new version. Make sure not to power off during the update.

What do the LED indicators on the RT-N19 mean?

The power LED indicates power on. The LAN and WAN LEDs indicate an active network connection. The 2.4 GHz LED blinks when Wi-Fi is active. Refer to the manual for more details.

How to connect my router to the Internet?

Connect the network cable from your modem to the router's WAN (Internet) port. Turn on the modem first, then the router. Configure the connection type (PPPoE, Dynamic IP, etc.) via the web interface. You will need information provided by your ISP.

Can I use the ASUS Router app to configure the RT-N19?

Yes, download the ASUS Router app from the App Store or Google Play. Connect your mobile device to the router's Wi-Fi network (default). Launch the app and follow the step-by-step setup instructions.

Position your wireless router

For optimal wireless transmission between the wireless router and connected wireless devices, ensure that you:

• Place the wireless router in a centralized area for a maximum wireless coverage for the network devices.
• Keep the wireless router away from metal obstructions and away from direct sunlight.
• Keep the wireless router away from 802.11g or 20MHz only Wi-Fi devices, 2.4GHz computer peripherals, Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, transformers, heavy-duty motors, fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and other industrial equipment to prevent signal interference or loss.
• Always update to the latest firmware. Visit the ASUS website at http://www.asus.com to get the latest firmware updates.
• To ensure the best wireless signal, orient the four detachable antennas as shown in the drawing below.

Preparing your modem

1. Unplug the power cable/DSL modem. If it has a battery backup, remove the battery.

NOTE: If you are using DSL for Internet, you will need your username/password from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to properly configure the router.

Setting up your RT-N19

You can set up your RT-N19 via wired or wireless connection.

A. Wired connection

1. Plug your router into a power outlet and power it on. Connect the network cable from your computer to a LAN port on your router.
