USER MANUAL KM 3118 CLATRONIC
General Safety Instructions Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fi t for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the workplace, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
- Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.
- Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualifi ed person and with a cable of the same type.
- Use only original spare parts.

- Only operate this machine under supervision.
- Do not interfere with any safety switches.
- Do not insert anything into the rotating hooks while the machine is working.
- Place the machine on a smooth, fl at and stable working surface.
- Do not insert the appliance plug without installing the necessary attachments.
- Before changing the attachments, the appliance must be disconnected from the mains!

- The kitchen scales are designed for a maximum weight of 3 kg.

Unpacking the appliance
- Remove the appliance from the box and all the enclosed accessories.
- Do not through the packaging away, but keep it together with the inner packing and the warranty documents for the whole life of the warranty.
- Place the appliance on smooth, level and stable work surface.
- Do not insert the appliance plug without installing the necessary attachments.
- In order to remove any contamination from the production line please clean the mixing bowl (1) and other accessories before initial use in a soapy water solution.
- Dry well all the parts after washing. Instructions for Use Attachments, Speeds and Operating Times for max. 1.2 kg of mixture: Product/Type of Preparation Max. Quantity Utensil Speed Max. - With heavy mixtures, do not operate the machine for more than 10 minutes, and then allow it to cool down for a further 30 minutes.
- Depending on the consistency of the mixture it is necessary to remove the mixture from the edge of the mixing bowl and place it back on the kneading attachments. To this purpose you can turn the bowl by hand and use the dough scraper (22). The device must be turned off. TURBO Switch (11) In order to switch the device to the maximum speed for a short time press the TURBO button. CAUTION: Do not use this function for more than 1 minute! Cable winding device The mains lead should only be pulled as far as the stop. Under no circumstances should you pull the lead with force as this may damage the cable take-up. Said damages are not covered by the warranty. Winding Press the cable winding button Retract (13) and guide the cable. Hold the cable to avoid wrapping. NOTE: The mixing bowl does not have its own drive. It is turned as a result of the movements of the attachments in the items being mixed, or you can turn it by hand. Clean the edge from time to time with the dough scraper (22).
- During operation no objects such as spoons, the dough scraper or your hands should touch the rotating whisks or dough hook!
- Do not press the RELEASE button (5) during operation. Assembly

3. In order to lift the arm, press the RELEASE button (5) and

21) by inserting the upper end into the openings provided on

Electrical Connection Pull the lead out of the compartment. Insert the mains plug into a properly installed 230 V/50 Hz safety power socket. Operation
- Turn the control (12) to min initially. Move the ON/OFF switch (9) to ON. CAUTION: The device is already switched on! The control lamp (10) remains on and shows that the device is working.
- Turn the control (12) to a speed between Min and Max (depending on the mixture).
- After you have fi nished kneading / mixing, move the switch (9) back to the „OFF“ position as soon as the mixture or a ball of dough has formed. Then remove the mains plug.
- Press the RELEASE button (5) and pull the arm upwards.
- The inserted tool can be removed by pressing the eject button (8).
- The fi nish dough can be loosened with the dough scraper supplied and taken out of the mixing bowl.
- Remove the mixing bowl.
Kitchen Scales Inserting the batteries (batteries not supplied) The battery compartment of the kitchen scales is located on the underside of the device.
1. Push the kitchen scales into the device or into the compart-
its side. Open the battery compartment on the underside. Use a screwdriver, for example, to carefully press open the mounting.
3. Insert 3 batteries of type AM4 „AAA“ 1,5V. Please ensure
that the polarity is correct (see the fl oor of the battery compartment)!
4. Close the battery compartment again.
5. If the device is not going to be used for a prolonged period,
please take the batteries out of the device in order to prevent the leaking of battery acid.
6. A battery symbol and the letters „Lo“ in the display indicate
that the batteries should be replaced. CAUTION:
- Different battery types or new and used batteries must not be used together.
- Batteries are not to be disposed of together with domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.
Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight. Never throw batteries into the fi re. There is a danger of explosion! Use Press the Ejection unlock button (14) to eject the kitchen scales. Please ensure that nothing is located in front of the kitchen scales when you press the button. NOTE: You can also use the kitchen scales if the device is not connected to the mains. Weighing Function
1. Press the on/off (17) button to switch the device on. The
display sets itself to „0.000“ kg or „0.000“ Lb. or „0.00 oz“ (see „Unit“ section).
2. Place the items to be weighed on the weighing surface. If
further ingredients are placed on the weighing surface the weights are added together.
3. As the bowl supplied is not suitable for weighing you should
use a suitable vessel (not larger than the weighing surface). Place it on the weighing surface and then press the REVERSE button; the display returns to 0.000 (0.00). If the vessel is fi lled, only the weight of the ingredient is shown. Unit In the weighing mode you can choose between kilograms (kg), pounds (lb) and ounces (oz) by pressing the Unit button. Weigh-in Function (TARA)
1. If you would like to weigh further ingredients for example,
use the weigh-in function.
2. Now put a further ingredient on the weighing surface. The
actual weight of the second ingredient is now shown in the display. Repeat this procedure if necessary.
3. If the scales are not being used they switch off automatically
after approx. 2 minutes in order to prolong the battery life, or you can press the on/off button (17).
4. Push the kitchen scales manually back into the compart-
ment. Handle the balance with care. It is a precision measuring instrument. Do not place a greater weight on the scales than their maximum measuring range. Do not load the appliance with more than 3 kg (Vessel and ingredients) to avoid damaging the device. If the letters „0-Ld“ appear, the weight is above 3 kg. Cleaning

Suggested Recipes Sponge Mixture (Basic Recipe) Level Min Medium Ingredients: 250 grams soft butter or margarine, 250 grams sugar, 1 packet vanilla sugar or 1 bag Citro-Back, 1 pinch of salt, 4 eggs, 500 grams wheat fl our, 1 packet baking powder, approx. 1/8 litre milk. Preparation: Put the wheat fl our with the other ingredients into the mixing bowl; then stir with the whisk for 30 seconds on the minimum level and approx. 3 minutes on the medium level. Grease a tin or cover with baking paper. Fill in the mixture and bake. Before the cake is removed from the oven, test to see if it is done. With a sharp wooden stick pierce the centre of the cake. If no mixture sticks to it, the cake is cooked. Turn the cake on to a cake grid and allow to cool. Depending on taste, this recipe can be changed, for example with 100g raisins or 100g nuts or 100g grated chocolate. In fact, the possibilities are endless. Linseed Bread Rolls Level Minimum Ingredients: 500-550g wheat fl our, 50g linseed, 3/8 litre water, 1 cube of yeast (40g), 100g low-fat curds, well drained, 1 tsp salt. For coating: 2 tbsp of water Preparation
Soak the linseed in 1/8 litre of lukewarm water. Put the rest of the lukewarm water (1/4 l) into the mixing bowl, crumble in the yeast, add the curd and mix thoroughly with the dough hook at a low speed. The yeast must be completely dissolved. Put the fl our with the soaked linseed and the salt into the mixing bowl. Knead thoroughly at a low level; then increase the level slightly and continue kneading for 3-5 minutes. Cover the mixture and allow to rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes. Knead thoroughly once more, remove from the bowl and form sixteen rolls. Cover the baking tin with wet baking paper. Place the rolls on this and allow to rise for 15 minutes. Coat with lukewarm water and bake.
