General Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

The lightning symbol should advise the user of parts in the inside of the device which carry dangerously high voltage levels.

Devices bearing this symbol work with a „class 1 laser" for tracing the CD. The built-in safety switches should prevent the user being exposed to dangerous laser light, which is invisible to the human eye, when the CD compartment is opened.
Under no circumstances should these safety switches be bypassed or manipulated, as this could result in a danger of exposure to the laser light.

Intended Use
This device is used for:
- Playing back audio/MP3 CDs.
It is intended exclusively for this purpose and may only be used as such. It may only be used in the manner described in these instructions for use. The device must not be used for commercial purposes.
Any other use of this device is considered to be contrary to the intended use and may result in damage to materials or even personal injury.
The firm EIV – Elektro-Technische Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH does not accept any liability for damage caused as a result of the use of this device contrary to its intended use.
Commissioning the device
CD deck transport protection
- Shift the OPEN key (9) to the right to open the CD compartment (8).
- Remove the transport protection from the CD player if present before use.
Inserting the battery/batteries (battery/batteries not supplied)
- Open the battery compartment (17) on the inside of the machine.
- Insert 2 1.5V R6, AA type batteries. Match the polarities correctly (see the inside of the battery compartment).
- Close the battery compartment.
- A battery symbol in the display indicates that the batteries need to be replaced.
- If the device is not used for a prolonged period, please remove the batteries in order to avoid the leakage of battery acid.
△ CAUTION:
- Different battery types or new and used batteries must not be used together.
- Batteries are not to be disposed of together with domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the relevant collection bin or at your dealer's.
WARNING:
Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight. Never throw batteries into the fire. There is a danger of explosion!
Mains Operation
(power pack not supplied)
It is possible to operate the device using the mains power unit.

Insert the plug of the power unit into a correctly installed 230V, 50 Hz wall socket.

Connect the CD player to the power unit by inserting the plug of the power unit into the DC 4.5 V socket (12).
- When using a power unit (DC 4.5V/600mA) ensure the correct polarity according to the inscriptions on the CD player.
General Operation
HOLD (16)
This blocks the functions of all keys on the device and is intended to protect against a key being activated accidentally. When the switch is pushed to the right the word "HOLD" appears in the display.
OPEN (9)
For opening the CD compartment.
4,5 V socket (12)
For connecting to a mains adapter.
LINE-OUT (5)
For connection to a stereo system, for example.
BBS (4)
This is used to amplify the bass sounds. With the function switched on BBS appears in the display.
VOLUME (7)
This is used to control the volume.
PHONES (6)
For connecting to the headphones or earphones.
Switching off
You can turn the device off by pressing the ■ STOP button (3) once, or twice if the device is running.
i NOTE:
If the device is not operated in stop mode, it switches off automatically after approximately 30 seconds.
Playing CDs
- Shift the OPEN key (9) to the right to open the CD compartment.
- Insert a CD with the label facing upwards and press carefully over the button until it snaps into place. Close the CD compartment.

Press the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button (2) to switch the device on and play back the CD. The letters „Cd“, „ESP“ appear in the display and „MP3“ fl ashes. Then the number of tracks appears briefly together with the total running time. The CD starts from the first track. The track currently being played and the time that has elapsed are shown in the display.

To remove a CD, press the ■ STOP key (3), open the CD deck with the OPEN key and take out the CD carefully.
Always keep the CD deck cover closed.
i NOTE:
When a disc is inserted incorrectly, "Er" appears in the display. If no disc is inserted, the words "NO dISC" appear.
Playing back Music in MP3 Format
With this device it is possible to play back pieces of music in MP3 format. The device also supports all standard CD types: CD, CD-RW, CD-R. The active ESP function always appears in the display (memory 12 seconds); see item "ESP".
- Insert an MP3 CD into the CD compartment as described above. Close the CD compartment.
- Press the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button (2) to switch the device on and play back the CD.
- The letters „Cd“, „ESP“ appear in the display and „MP3“ fl ashes. Then the number of folders appears in the display, together with the tracks and total running time. The MP3 CD is played back, starting with the first track. The current folder, the current song and the elapsed playing time are shown in the display.
Description of the CD buttons
▶ II PLAY/PAUSE (2)
You can briefly interrupt and resume playback using this button. The playing time that has elapsed flashes in the display. Pressing again continues playback.
I◀◀ SKIP- (14)
With the CD running:
Press once = This starts the current track again from the beginning.
Press a second time = This jumps back to the previous track.
Press a third time = This plays the song before etc. If the button is kept pressed down, the machine starts to search through the tracks.
▶▶ I SKIP+ (13)
With the CD running:
With this button you can jump to the following track or the next track but one etc. If the button is kept pressed down, the machine starts to search through the tracks.
■ STOP (3)
The CD is stopped. By pressing once again, the unit is switched off.
ESP/DIR (15)
ESP in CD mode:
It fills the 40-second electronic memory to protect against the jumping of the CD. If the player is jolted, the CD music data is read out continuously from an intermediate memory. Reading errors are corrected subsequently in the intermediate memory. Every time the device is switched on an indication appears in the display that the anti-shock function is activated. Press the ESP button if you want to deactivate this function.
DIR function only in MP3 mode:
When an MP3 CD is inserted, this key is used to select the various directories stored on the CD.
MODE (11)
The following functions can be selected with the MODE key:
Press once = " " : the current track is repeated continuously.
Press a second time = "ALL": the whole CD is played continuously.
Press a third time = „INTRO": the word „INTRO" appears in the display (during playback). Then press the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button (2). All tracks are played for ten seconds.
Press a fourth time = the word „RND“ appears in the display (during playback). If the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button is pressed, all tracks are played back in random order.
Press a fifth time = all the functions are reset. The normal play mode is resumed.
Functions in Playback Mode of an MP3 CD:
Press once = " " " the current track is repeated continuously.
Press a second time = "ALBUM": the currently selected directory (the album) is repeated continuously.
Press a third time = "ALL ALBUM": the whole CD is played continuously.
Press a fourth time = „INTRO”: the word „INTRO" appears in the display (during playback). Then press the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button (2). All tracks are played for ten seconds.
Press a fi fth time = the word „RND“ appears in the display (during playback). If the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button is pressed, all tracks are played back in random order.
Press a sixth time = all the functions are reset.
The normal play mode is resumed.
Programmed Play
- Press the ■ STOP key (3).
- Press the PROG key (10).
- PROG and „Cd 00“ (track number) flashes on the display. Next to it you can see the memory preset number P-01.
- In MP3 mode the number of the folder is shown at the top and the track number below it. Next to it you can see the memory preset number P-01.
- Use the ▶▶▶ SKIP+/I◀◀ SKIP- buttons (13/14) to select the desired track and then press the PROG button again.
i NOTE:
Press the ESP/DIR button to select the desired folder in MP3 mode.
- The display changes to memory slot 02.
- Select the next track with the ▶▶▶I SKIP+/I◀◀ SKIP- and press the PROG key again. Repeat the procedure until all the desired tracks are selected. Press the ▶▶▶ PLAY/PAUSE key (2). The playback starts. Press this button to pause briefly the playback.
- Press once the ■ STOP key to stop the playback while retaining the program.
- To resume the playback of the program press first the PROG key once and then the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE key.
- To delete the program, press the ■ STOP key twice (The machine switches off).
The device stops automatically once the entire sequence of programmed tracks is completed. The programmed sequence remains in the memory until the CD is taken out of the CD deck or until the device is switched off.
It is possible to combine the pre-programmed tracks with the MODE function. After you have programmed the tracks and started the machine, please press the MODE button up to fourth times so that the functions „☐”, “☐” ALL" and "INTRO" can be used as described in the section entitled "MODE".
MP3 CDs
This machine of is able to play MP3 CDs. Up to 200 tracks can be compressed and stored on these CDs. Your machine detects an MP3 CD automatically (the word MP3 appears in the display). If you would like to play one of these CDs, proceed as described under „Playing CDs". Tracks can be programmed as described under „Playing Back Programmed Tracks".
