Light-duty drilling

WARNING
Battery products are always in operating condition. Therefore, the switch should always be locked when not in use or carrying at your side.
BATTERY PROTECTION FEATURES
Ryobi 4 V lithium-ion batteries are designed with features that protect the lithium-ion cells and maximize battery life.
If the tool stops during use, release the trigger to reset and resume operation. If the tool still does not work, the battery needs to be recharged.
TO INSTALL / REMOVE BATTERY PACK
See Figure 2.

OPERATION
DIRECTION OF ROTATION SELECTOR (FORWARD / REVERSE / CENTER LOCK)
See Figure 3.
The direction of bit rotation is reversible and is controlled by a selector located above the switch trigger. With the screwdriver held in normal operating position, the direction of rotation selector should be positioned to the left of the switch trigger for forward motion. The direction is reversed when the selector is to the right of the switch trigger.
Setting the switch trigger in the OFF (center lock) position helps reduce the possibility of accidental starting when not in use.

CAUTION
To prevent gear damage, always allow the collet to come to a complete stop before changing the direction of rotation.
To stop the screwdriver, release the switch trigger and allow the collet to come to a complete stop.
NOTE: The screwdriver will not run unless the direction of rotation selector is pushed fully to the left or right.
TWO-SPEED GEAR BOX
See Figure 4.
The screwdriver has a two-speed gear box designed for LO or HI speeds. A slide switch is located on top of the screwdriver to select either LO or HI speed. When using screwdriver in the LO speed range, speed will decrease and unit will have more power and torque. When using screwdriver in the HI speed range, speed will increase and unit will have less power and torque. When drilling use 1/4 in. hex shank drill bits only. Maximum drill size is 1/4 in.
Use the HI speed setting to drill holes, and use the LO speed setting for driving screws.
TO LOAD/RELEASE BITS
See Figure 5.
The SPEEDLOAD +^TM SYSTEM on the screwdriver is a quick change chuck designed to accept any 1/4 in. hex bits. Insert the bit into the chuck and push as far as possible until the chuck locks onto the bit. To remove a bit, push rubber collar forward, and then pull the bit straight out of the chuck.
ADJUSTABLE TORQUE CLUTCH
This screwdriver is equipped with an adjustable torque clutch for driving different types of screws into different materials. The proper setting depends on the type of material and the size of screw you are using.
ADJUSTING TORQUE
See Figure 6.
There are twenty-four torque indicator settings located on the front of the screwdriver.
Select the gear selection setting to HI or LO speed.
Rotate the adjusting ring to the desired setting.
| 1 - 4 | For driving small screws (HI or LO speed) |
| 5 - 8 | For driving screws into soft material (LO speed) |
| 9 - 12 | For driving screws into soft and hard materials (LO speed) |
| 13 - 16 | For driving screws in hard wood (LO speed) |
| 17 - 24 | For driving large screws (LO speed) |
OVERLOAD PROTECTION DEVICE
The tool has an overload protection device. The tool will stop if the spindle is locked for several seconds while the trigger is on. If this happens, release the trigger, then wait for a few seconds before you resume operation. To avoid this situation, do not force the tool.
LED WORKLIGHT
See Figure 7.
The screwdriver has a built-in LED worklight. This feature is convenient when working in close or tight areas where additional light is needed. Whenever the switch trigger is depressed, the LED worklight will illuminate.
NOTE: The LED worklight will go off when overload protection causes the tool to stop. The light will come on again when the trigger is depressed and operation resumes.
MAINTENANCE

WARNING
When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other part may create a hazard or cause product damage.
English
MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

WARNING
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. They contain chemicals that can damage, weaken or destroy plastic.
Do not abuse power tools. Abusive practices can damage tool as well as workpiece.

WARNING
Do not attempt to modify this tool or create accessories not recommended for use with this tool. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal injury.

All Ryobi products are guaranteed against manufacturing defects and defective parts for a period of twenty four (24) months from the date stated on the original invoice drawn up by the retailer and given to the end user.
Deterioration caused by normal wear and tear, unauthorised or improper use or maintenance, or overload are excluded from this guarantee as are accessories such as battery packs, light bulbs, blades, fittings, bags, etc. In the event of malfunction during the warranty period, please take the NON-DISMANTLED product, along with the proof of purchase, to your retailer or nearest Authorised Ryobi Service Centre.
This warranty in no way affects your legal rights concerning defective products.

GARANTIE - CONDITIONS
The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in accordance with a standardised test given in EN 60745 and may be used to compare one tool with another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period.
An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the exposure level over the total working period. Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.
