How to turn the computer on or off?

Use the power switch located on the upper left of the keyboard. Press once to turn on, hold for a few seconds to turn off.

What to do if the touchpad stops working?

Press Fn + F7 to enable/disable the touchpad. Also check the mouse settings in the Control Panel.

How to adjust the screen brightness?

Use Fn + ▲ to increase brightness and Fn + ▼ to decrease it.

The battery is not charging, what to do?

Make sure the AC adapter is properly plugged in and the charge light is orange. If the light is blue, the battery is full. If no light, test another outlet or contact customer support.

How to connect an external monitor?

Connect the monitor to the VGA or HDMI port, then press Fn + F5 to toggle between the internal display, external display, or both.

The sound is not working, what to check?

Make sure the speakers are not disabled via Fn + F8. Check the volume in the taskbar and in the audio settings.

How to use the special keys (Fn)?

Hold down the Fn key and press the desired function key (F1 to F12). For example, Fn + F4 puts the computer to sleep.

Can I replace the battery myself?

Yes, the battery is removable. Unlock the release latch and slide the battery out of its compartment. Insert the new battery and lock it.

How to access the complete user guide?

Click on Start > All Programs > AcerSystem, then on the AcerSystem user guide. It is in PDF format and requires Adobe Reader.

What to do if the optical drive does not open?

Use the emergency eject hole: insert a straightened paperclip into the small hole next to the eject button. The tray will open.

It covers basic topics such as using the keyboard and audio, etc. Please understand that due to its nature, the AcerSystem User Guide mentioned below will occasionally refer to functions or features which are only contained in certain models of the series, but not necessarily in the model you purchased. Such instances are marked in the text with language such as "only for certain models".

This Quick Guide introduces you to the basic features and functions of your new computer. For more on how your computer can help you to be more productive, please refer to the AcerSystem User Guide. This guide contains detailed information on such subjects as system utilities, data recovery, expansion options and troubleshooting. In addition it contains warranty information and the general regulations and safety notices for your notebook. It is available in Portable Document Format (PDF) and comes preloaded on your notebook. Follow these steps to access it:

1 Click on Start > All Programs > AcerSystem.
2 Click on AcerSystem User Guide.

Note: Viewing the file requires Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader is not installed on your computer, clicking on AcerSystem User Guide will run the Adobe Reader setup program first. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. For instructions on how to use Adobe Reader, access the Help and Support menu.

7		Click buttons (left and right)	The left and right buttons function like the left and right mouse buttons.
8		Palmrest	Comfortable support area for your hands when you use the computer.
9		HDD	Indicates when the hard disk drive is active.
		Communication indicator	Indicates the computer's wireless connectivity device status.
10		Power switch	Turns the computer on and off.
11		Microphone	Internal microphone for sound recording.

Hotkeys

The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output.

To activate hotkeys, press and hold the <Fn> key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination.
