- Do not use E10 fuel.
Attention:
Do not use a fuel mixture that has been stored for more than 90 days.
Attention:
Do not use 2-stroke oil that recommends a mixing ratio of 100:1. The engine guarantee of the manufacturer becomes invalid in the event of damage to the engine due to insufficient lubrication.
Attention:
Use only designated and approved vessels for the transport and storage of fuel. Put the correct amount of petrol and 2-stroke oil into the enclosed oil-petrol mixing bottle (A). Then shake the vessel well.
Never use oil for 4-stroke engines or water-cooled 2-stroke engines. This can cause the spark plug to become fouled, the exhaust part to become blocked or the piston ring to become stuck. Fuel mixtures that have not been used for one month or longer can clog the carburettor or impair engine operation. Put unused fuel in an airtight vessel and store it in a dark, cool room.
Fuel mixing table
Mixing procedure: 40 parts petrol to 1 part oil
Example:
1 | petrol: 0.025 | 2-stroke oil
5 | petrol: 0.125 | 2-stroke oil
Warning! Pay attention to the exhaust gases.
Always switch off the engine before refuelling.
Never add petrol to the device while the engine is running or it is hot. There is a risk of fire!
Only fuel the unit outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms. Make sure that no fuel gets into the soil (environmental protection). Use a suitable surface. Only use bio chain oil.
Fuels only have a limited shelf life as they age. Expired fuels and fuel mixtures can result in start problems. Therefore only mix as much fuel as required for one months use. Only store fuels in approved and labelled containers. Store the fuel container in a dry and safe place.
Make sure that the fuel container cannot be reached by children when stored.
Attention! Before commissioning, find out how to take the device out of operation in an emergency!

- Check the device for leaks.
- Check the device for visible damage.
- Check that all parts of the device are securely attached.
- Check that all safety devices are in good condition and functional.
10.2.1 Starting with a cold engine (Fig. 1, 3, 4)
Support the petrol hedge trimmer when starting it and hold it firmly. Ensure that the cutting device is free.
- Remove the blade guard (E) from the cutting device (1).
- Set the petrol hedge trimmer down on a firm and level surface. The cutting device (1) must not come into contact with the floor.
- Press the fuel pump primer (5) 7x.
- Turn the cold start lever (choke) (4) to "Cold start".
- Hold the petrol hedge trimmer firmly by the front handle (3) and pull the start pull cord (12) out slowly until you feel the first resistance.
- Now pull the start pull cord (12) and the engine should start. If the engine does not start, repeat the process. As long as the cold start lever (choke) (4) is set to "Cold start", the engine will run for only a short time and then stop.
- As soon as the engine has stopped, actuate the throttle interlock (7) and the throttle (9) together. The (choke) lever (4) will automatically spring back to the "warm start" operating position.
- Now pull the start pull cord (12) again and the engine should start.
- After actuating the throttle lever (9) once, the engine runs at idle speed.
- Allow the engine to warm up briefly.
If the engine does not start even after several attempts, read the "Troubleshooting" chapter.
Attention
Always pull the start pull cord (12) out straight. If it is pulled out at an angle, friction will occur on the lug. This friction causes the cord to wear through and wear out faster. Hold the handle of the start pull cord (12) firmly when the pull cord (12) winds back in.
Never allow the start pull cord (12) to spin back. This can result in damage.
Note:
With high outside temperatures, it may be necessary to start the engine without the cold start lever (choke) (4) even when the engine is cold.
Note:
If the cutting device (1) moves at idle or the engine stops on its own when the throttle is released, a carburettor adjustment must be made (see chapter "13.2 Setting the idle speed").
10.2.2 Starting the engine when warm
- The cold start lever (choke) does not have to be set to "Warm start" to start a warm engine.
- Hold the petrol hedge trimmer firmly by the front handle (3) and pull the start pull cord (12) out slowly until you feel the first resistance.
- Now pull the start pull cord (12) quickly. The device should start after 1-2 pulls. If the device has still not started after 6 pulls, repeat the procedure described under "Starting the engine when cold".
10.3 Operation of the hedge trimmer (Fig. 1)

11. Working instructions
11.1 Working with the hedge trimmer
- The hedge trimmer is suitable for cutting hedges, bushes and shrubs.
- Hold the hedge trimmer at a safe distance away from your body with two hands.
- The maximal diameter to cut depends on the wood's type, age, moisture and hardness.
- Therefore cut very thick branches using branch shears to your desired length before trimming the hedge.
- Thanks to the its double-sided cutting unit, the hedge trimmer can be moved forward and backward or from one side to the other swinging it back and forth.
- Cut the sides of the hedges first and then the top edge.
- Cut hedges from bottom to the top.
- Cut the hedges in trapezium shape. This prevents the lower hedge area from becoming bare due to insufficient light.
- Stretch a guide over the complete length of the hedge when you want to shorten the upper edge of the hedge evenly.
- Trim in several passes if you have to cut down a large portion of the hedge.
- Make sure to remove any foreign objects from the hedges (e.g. wire), since they may damage the blade of the hedge trimmer.
- Attention! The blades are still running! Do not stop the blades with your hand.
The right time to cut:
• Leaf hedge: June and October
• Conifer hedge: April and August
- Fast growing hedge: around every 6 weeks from May
Pay attention to nesting birds in the hedge. Delay the hedge cut or leave this area out if this is the case.
12. Transport
To transport the device, switch the engine off, wait until the cutting device has come to a standstill and attach the blade guard (E) (Fig. 4).
Carry the device by the front handle (3). Hold the cutting device (1) backwards and keep the hot silencer (13) away from your body.
Only transport the device in the boot of the car or on a separate transport surface.
Secure the petrol hedge trimmer against tipping, damage and from fuel leaking.
13. Cleaning and maintenance
Before any maintenance and cleaning work
- Shut off engine
- Wait until the cutting device is at a standstill
- Remove the spark plug connector (except for idling adjustments)
- Leave the device to cool down
Note
The device should be thoroughly cleaned after each use. Only carry out cleaning and maintenance work to the extent specified in this operating manual.
Further maintenance and cleaning work, as described in this chapter, may only be carried out by customer service.
Do not carry out maintenance work in the vicinity of naked flames. Risk of fire!
Safety devices removed for maintenance and cleaning must always be properly reattached and checked.
Only use original parts. Other parts can lead to unpredictable damage and injuries.
Wear gloves in order to prevent potential injuries.
In order to ensure reliable use of the petrol hedge trimmer for a long time, carry out the following maintenance work on a regular basis.
Check the petrol hedge trimmer for obvious defects such as
- loose fastenings
- worn or damaged components
- bent, broken or damaged cutting device
• Tank plug and fuel lines for leaks
Check the petrol hedge trimmer after every use
- Wear, especially sliding clearance of the cutting device.
- Covers or protective devices correctly mounted and intact.
Necessary repairs or maintenance work is carried out before using the petrol hedge trimmer.
13.1 Lubricating the transmission (Fig. 5)
Lubricate the drive every 10 to 20 operating hours.
- Using the 4 mm Allen key (C) supplied, open the screw of the lubrication hole (18) on the underside of the hedge trimmer.
- Place the grease gun on the lubrication hole (18).
- Squeeze some grease into it.
- Screw the screw of the lubrication hole (18) back in.
Attention! Top up with only a little grease. Under no circumstances overfill.
13.2 Setting the idle speed
If the cutting device (1) moves at idle or the engine stops by itself when the throttle is released, a carburettor adjustment must be made.
Note:
Have carburettor adjustments (e.g. idle speed) carried out only by qualified specialists to avoid engine damage.
13.3 Cleaning or replacing the air filter (Fig. 6)
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to reduced air supply to the carburettor. Dust and pollen clog the pores of the foam insert. Regular inspection is therefore essential.
Clean the air filter (17) approx. every 15 operating hours, more often in particularly dusty conditions.
- Set the cold start lever (choke) (4) to "Cold start" so that no particles of dirt get into the carburettor.
- Remove the air filter cover (16). To do this, loosen the wing screw (15).
- Remove the air filter (17) from the foam.
- Wash the air filter (17) in lukewarm soapy water. Do not blow out the particles of dirt, there is a danger of eye injuries!
- Clean the inside of the air filter with a brush.
- Allow the air filter (17) to dry and reinsert it again.
- Attach the air filter cover (16) again.
Attention:
Never clean the air filter with petrol or inflammable cleaning agents.
In order to prolong the service life of the engine, a damaged air filter must be replaced immediately.
⚠ Warning!
Never leave the engine running if the air filter element is not inserted.
13.4 Clean or replace the fuel filter
Check the fuel filter if necessary. A contaminated fuel filter hinders the fuel supply.
Open the tank cover (11) and pull the fuel filter through the opening using a wire hook (not included in the scope of delivery).
• In the event of light contamination:
- Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line and clean the filter in cleaning solvent.
• In the event of heavy contamination:
- Replace the fuel filter.
- To remove the fuel filter from the fuel line, squeeze the hose clamp and slide it down.
- Now the fuel filter can be removed from the fuel line.
13.5 Check, clean or replace spark plug (Fig. 7/8) Attention
Do not touch the spark plug (14.1) or the spark plug connector (14) while the engine is running. High voltage!
Danger of burning if motor is hot. Wear safety gloves!
